Laptop Issue

What would cause a laptop to do random things, when pushing keys? For example, "q", "w", "e", "r" and "t" work fine, but "y" shuts the PC down, and "u" enters random symbols.

Check the keyboard settings. It should be set to British or American style keyboard.

Better yet, go into Control Panel > Accessibility Options and make sure it's turned off there. Pressing the shift key several times isn't a sure fire way of getting the option to pop up.
