OBEs and NDEs

No, they're not drugs  .

OBEs - Out of body experiences

NDEs - Near Death Experiences

The subject of these fascinate me. As one of my goals in life is to achieve an OBE, as there are several ways to try and induce it, simply put "trying to fall asleep without losing conciousness".

Does anyone have any stories about these or have experienced one  ? Or any facts about them...

NDE: Almost died in a swimming pool. Blacked out because I ran out of breath, was saved however, not through CPR, but by my body floating to the surface quickly and regaining consciousness, I was able to grab a breath, but I was weak for a while.

I had the same sort of experience in a pool, I was doing a handstand, hit my head on a step, completely blacked out, but my friend sat me up and I only got a concussion. Never saw any "light" or anything...

That wouldn't nesecarily be a NDE, although you were literally "near death".

In a NDE, you have a concious feeling of being dead, and see a light at the end of a dark tunnel, feeling calm and happy, and then being awakened from death, in a sense, so near death that you were already dead.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near-death_experience what NDEs ussually include:

  • A sense of being dead.

An out-of-body experience. A sensation of floating above one's body and seeing the surrounding area.

Pleasant feelings, calmness. A sense of overwhelming love and peace.

A sensation of moving upwards through a tunnel or narrow passageway.

Meeting deceased relatives or spiritual figures.

Encountering a being of light, or a light (possibly a religious or divine figure).

    Being given a life review.

    Reaching a border or boundary.

A feeling of being returned to the body, often accompanied by a reluctance.

I have an NDE.

One day, me and my friends were outside and were walking across the highway in our neighborhood. Myself, being the [developmentally delayed] I am, doesn't wait for the light to change so we can cross. I look one way and see a big 18-wheeler coming slowly and knew that I could make it. So I start jogging across. My friends frantically start yelling "TIM!! TIM!!!". I look to the left and see a mini van barreling at about 70 mph coming towards me. I sprint across the highway and missed being hit by the van by a couple of inches. Some guy waiting for the light to change on the other side comes up to me and says, "You're [bleep]ing crazy!! You almost got nailed by that van!!!"

I swear that I could have outran Carl Lewis and Reggie Bush combined I ran so fast. I would have ran the 40 yard dash in under 2 seconds at that speed.

Well, I had the same experience Viktor had.

I nearly drowned in a swimming pool. I was saved by my dad though. My life flashed in front of my eyes and it was actually awhile until I woke up. I don't remember seeing a light... I just remember seeing a lot of my memories.

NDE: I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. Twice. In the exact same spot. I think it was the same snake too.

I'm tired of these mother****ing snakes!!
