hi guys,

I was recently reading a article and I saw that they used the quotation mark in this paragraph....

"These children, they are psychologically pretty traumatized. ... When you are in a desperate situation in some of these countries, parents will pay for their children ... to get a better life for themselves in a country like this."

Then it is just emphasizing like how I 'emphasized' the word emphasize. But I've only seen that done with ' and ', not " and ".

Seriously though, slow down when you type so it is legible.

ok...the quotation marks are because, and I know this is hard, but because it's a q u o t e. The use of the little dots, or full stops, is to show where the quoter chopped out bits of his words that were irrelevant. It gives the reader an idea of what he means, whilst removing unesecary text.

You're not making any bloody sense, and those question marks in your siggay confuse me more :?

What is your question? Are you asking what a dot-dot-dot (...) means? It's called an elipses. As a previous poster said, it's what you do to take out irrelevent parts of a quote. For example.

So, the other day, I walked the dog- who happened to have a bad back because he fell down the stairs fourteen days ago- and i met Paul McCartney!

Now, if someone wanted to quote and show the person that Kin met Paul McCartney, he'd take out the irrelevent parts.

So, the other day... i met Paul McCartney!

It cannot, however, be used to twist a quote's meaning. For example, i say,

I do not love you! and you quote "I...Love you" that's a different meaning- not allowed.

Otherwise, I've not got a bloody clue- what's the question and why'd I waste time not knowing what it was?
