Attacking Style Question

I've used them both, and while it's minute, it's like this.

Attack - Hits more, hits slightly less hard.

Strength - Hits harder, less accurate

Defense - Hit less often and not quite as hard as often, but get hit less.

I won't swear to this, as I didn't exactly do math, or watch the numbers, but I'd supposed that it be around that.

Wouldn't it be more logical that you would check your attackstyle for the 'other' description, like slash, stab, crush, etc..and would check your attackbonus for those different styles? Assume you know that the highest attackbonus will give the highest rate of hits..

His question was, does he hit more often, and get hit less, depending on the attack style. Logically thinking, training in defence would make you less likely to get hit... Training in attack would make you prone to getting hit, but make you more accurate. He said nothing about the bonuses.

Possibly I didnt make myself clear..

You will hit more often with the attackstyle with the highest attackbonus.. This was part of his question, wasnt 'it?

As far what you state, quote:

"Logically thinking, training in defence would make you less likely to get hit... Training in attack would make you prone to getting hit, but make you more accurate"

Could be logical thinking for you and me, but it's nothing more than a wild assumption regarding rs-combatstyles.. Forum should be somuch better if people kept to the facts... Or did you find something in RS-knowledge base that I dont know about, in which case my apologies...

Edit: Ok, i've send a query, so we'll see if i get a response.

I'd like to take this time to also apologise in advance if im wrong, but i couldn't find anything on the knowledge base.

In screenshots of Classic, it is shown as +3 to Attack, Strength or Defence, , or +1 to all 3 from Controlled.

The effect of training a particular skill far outweighs the the small effect of using the style.

As for stab / slash / crush, that relates more to the characteristics of the weapon used, for the common weapons, the main style of the weapon is usually available in accurate, aggressive and defensive modes, while the secondary style tends to be in aggressive or controlled.
