Aiiieee, Steyr Aug is what the Australian Army uses. Anyway, looks pretty good considering I know zilch about 3d modeling. In some parts it looks wrong, as in the side that you can see swap as if it's cylindrical. Argh, I dunno how to explain it. :P Good work. :)

Ahhh! So very off...

Are you using references pics? (can i see them?)

If so, are you using them in a different window or in 3ds itself?

What's your technique? What do you start with, what do you edit in, what tools you use most etc...

The stock is totally messed up, and it looks like the big cylinder piece at the barrel needs a smoothing group assigned to it.

1st of all, i tried not do use referance images since thats pretty damn noobish... pure tracing >_>

and, the steyr i modeled that off looked different then ur carbine... and even then, why flame?

+ i said its a wip, and im still working out certain parts... i guess i forgot to add a smoothing group to the barrel

References are NOT cheap.

If your going to mimic an actual item, why not try to get it the same as in real life, instead of totally different?

And i don't know what you mean by tracing? Or are you using splines (I still don't know this - you never specified your technique).

Using references are accepted and used by almost every modeler out there, unless he's just making something up as he goes.

Though i'd like to point out, since we are on the subject of references and being cheap, using an image you didn't make to texture your gun is not accepted by most modelers. Its considered stealing, ripping, or in some cases, plagiarizing, and also considered "cheap", since there isn't as much work involved as making your own textures.

And, I may be wrong, but thats what it looked like you did in this post.

http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=113636

(thats why i asked to see clays/wireframes, since theres no point in rating the texturing if you didn't make it, and instead i could just rate the model itself)

and, the steyr i modeled that off looked different then ur carbine... and even then, why flame?

And i wasn't flaming, i was trying to help. And i was asking for a references so i could see what you were using as a reference, and give you points on how to improve. I was also trying to find out your modeling technique, and if its one i'm comfortable with i could help you out with that too.

True, sorry about that.

If your putting it here to be rated (i'm guessing thats what your doing), you should prepare yourself for people who may not like the image you've created. Unfortunately, alot of people aren't as generous as others on rating highly, because their opinions may be different.

well excuse me but i think its pretty damn good considering i have no experince with max, and it was done in about 3-5 hours... ive had a headache all day and its hard for me to concentrate... even then, maybe you culd tell me what you think is wrong with it in your opinion, instead of "it doesnt look like it at all", i mean holy hell, if you can look at that and not see that its supposed to be a freakin steyr aug you need some glasses... also i do find that referance images are very cheap, its just tracing... where is there skill in tracing? plus... if i did use them, (wich i do use them for other things when i need them) for this gun, i would need a front view or a top view... and theres no top view anywhere to be found on google :o

o and yeah, the g22 kinda sucked anyway, i did it in like 40 mins with a uvmap for a texture

and no i wasnt putting it out to be rated i was putting it out for some cc, its still a wip why wuld i put it out to be rated?

and worm u ***hole :) i knew u were gona say that... :)

How do you shoot it?

Well the general view on these things is that you should try pulling the trigger preferably with the barrel facing away from you.....

There isn't a trigger yet, so it would be pretty hard to shoot ;)

Clays = untextured, unskinned. That means no/very few colours..
