and do i need 300 soft clays?

Yes you need to unlock it, and yes you'll need one clay per spell.

You don't have to unlock it to use them but you do have to unlock it to make the tablets. If you have a friend who can make them i suggest asking him or try trading materials for them or buying them

or you can get someone who has bones to peaches unlocked to make the tablets for you.
