Alrighty, thanks!

Hi, simple question here. Would I make more farming ranarrs or snapdragons? It would appear to be a simple math thing, but according to different guides, it seems as though you get fewer snapdragons than ranarrs on average when farmed. Thanks for your help!

Anyone having problems with Fullscreen (alt-tabbing)
Sonicspeed replied to simosimo's topic in Help and Advice
I have this problem too. Everything runs perfectly, aside from this nitpick. Sometimes runescape refuses to return to window-mode too. I don't know why! >_< -
HINT: Really easy way to get raw chicken is from Wysen's food shop in Port Sarim. But yeah, err... It's undead chicken!

Woot! Jagex changed the theme music!

The change will likely be temporary, just like it was for Hunter. -
Pros and Cons of Summoning? Explain please
Sonicspeed replied to monkeyboo2's topic in General Discussion
At a high level, the skill seems to offer a lot of support for other skills. Beasts of burden look as though they may be among the most useful, as they expand your inventory up to 10 extra spaces, (with the yak). Certain skill related beasts of burden will allow minor bonuses, such as the ability to carry a couple extra essence and a few more fish per inventory. Other familiars, like the Macaw, might be useful just to keep summoned for their forage ability (the Macaw happens to randomly find herbs.) While your familiar can only fight with you in certain areas, they can be summoned almost anywhere except certain "summoning free" areas. This means that particular summons (specifically the unicorn that can heal yup to 15% of your hitpoints for the cost of one scroll!) are still useful. I'm curious about some of the special scroll effects of the summons, (particularly the beaver and woodcutting) but at the moment it seems as though some of the bonuses may be worth it. -
It's a little difficult to see-but it's a ladder-type icon on the minimap. It's just southeast of the colony itself, more east than south, still up in the darker section. It's a trapdoor, which almost blends into the ground. Took me a couple minutes to spot it my first time.

The best way to infuse seems to be to just run back and forth from the Fishing Colony. I've been doing it for awhile, and I can't see any better way.

TWIRP Report and Economic Analysis: Week of January 14, 2008

If you're interested about where and how he gets the numbers, read the in depth explanation! You have no need to speculate, because he spells it out. -
We have overhauled the account recovery system to make completing the request form easier and recovering a lost account faster. We hope you will find this new system simpler to use, which will allow us to more accurately recover your account. The links to access the system from the front page have remained unchanged, however they will now take you to a login form similar to all the other login forms on our website, except it will not require a password to proceed. Additionally, the pages have been re-designed in the style of the new billing system which we launched at the end of last year. As part of the upgrade to the new system we have slightly changed how we handle locked accounts. Previously, when a locked account was appealed we answered the appeal as soon as possible. Under the new system lock appeals will be held for up to 3 days to allow any other players contesting the account to appeal as well. This change will allow us to secure compromised accounts more effectively. Standard forgotten or lost password appeals are not affected by this and will continue to be answered as quickly as possible. Users with 'Tracking IDs' from the previous account recovery system should find that they work correctly with the new system.

1.Drop trading, is it still a problem? 2. Grave markers?
Sonicspeed replied to joey11223's topic in Help and Advice
Only 3,000 gp "worth" of items can be seen if dropped every 15 minutes. (A bit complex, but you "regain" 200 gp per minute that can be seen when dropped.) An item's worth is determined by its current value on the Grand Exchange. When you dropped your junk, it wasn't worth 3,000 gp. Therefore, people could see it. Graves are new. When you die, you keep three items like normal, but your items are now protected by a grave for a certain period of time. If you get back there in time, you can get them. If you don't make it, nobody will ever see the items (unless they happen to be less than 3k). "Blessing" the gravestone will cause it to last longer, so you can help someone out by doing that. A bless will give the gravestone an hour, while praying at it gives it an extra couple minutes, I believe. Different types of gravestones last different amounts of time. See the knowledge base on runescape.com for a little more detail on that. -
Post your Manage thy Kingdom results.

^ The above method is only a false sense of profit. If you simply sold the nature runes you crafted, you'd make far more money than high alching those bows. Especially since you're not only mining the essence for them, but also gathering/buying bowstrings. Such a method only seems to profit, when in reality, you're losing potential money. -
Nevermind.

If I'm using bone bolts, am I better off...
Sonicspeed replied to Sonicspeed's topic in Help and Advice
Oh wait, I didn't consider whether or not the rune crossbow CAN use bone bolts. That's probably what's confusing here, and I didn't even stop to consider it myself. And they're not. Duh. I'm just crazy, question answered. -
If I'm using bone bolts, am I better off...
Sonicspeed replied to Sonicspeed's topic in Help and Advice
I'm not asking about the bolts themselves, I'm asking which crossbow is better to use with bone bolts. I'm asking if the bone crossbow gives a particular advantage with the bone bolts or not. -
The abyss is still faster without being able to use a pickaxe/regular axe, but you also may have to worry about food depending on your defense level. All in all, the time's probably worth it if you buy some junk food off the GE.

Using a rune or bone crossbow? I'm pretty sure the bolts fire faster with the bone crossbow, so it turns out better, but I'm not positive. Thanks.

Potions update along with summoning?
Sonicspeed replied to War_Junky_91's topic in General Discussion
Well, I think we can say with certainty that it won't be released this week. The last development diary has yet to be released. -
I doubt we'll have even more deflation. The GE, by centralizing trades and removing time-consuming merchants, is allowing for more money to change hands quicker. This means that the money can be re-used more often--almost as though there's actually more money than before now, since more exchanges can happen. When the trading restrictions in January hit, more people will be forced to use the GE and more money will be flowing, after the initial pause as prices correct themselves. Furthermore, what's important to remember is this: if alchers are persistent, they will find another method come January. It's true that most "new money" comes from Alchers, however there's also the money that comes in from selling items to stores and through monster drops themselves. Additionally, not all the alched money is from yew logs. In fact, I'm surprised this thread isn't considering inflation, as the value of the nature rune is decreasing. There's probably no need to fear further deflation, because the GP has seemingly had its major fall due to the removal of merchants. According to the graphs by primadog, we can see that most prices are stabilizing. The only way to go is up, and the price of the nature rune's ready to facilitate new mass-alched items. Alching will be lost for yew logs unless they see a major decrease, but it probably won't matter because people will find other items to use. For those that don't know, inflation and deflation are not "bad and good" opposites. Deflation's actually somewhat of a bad thing, because an increasing value in money encourages people to hold onto it rather than spend it, as it'll be worth more tomorrow. Too much inflation also means lots of problems, because the money loses its value and people panic about its worth. A constant, predictable, low rate of inflation encourages people to spend their money without losing control.

Potions update along with summoning?

The farming requirement used to put a lot of people off, as it's relatively high. Perhaps now that farming's been out for longer it's less of a big deal. -
Does Jagex think everyone to be a noob?
Sonicspeed replied to MasterMarduk's topic in General Discussion
You're making the wrong conclusions for the wrong reasons. The overall point that I have to side with Jagex on is that, previously, "sharing" exp was unfair to somebody. While both of you agreed to do it, the fact of the matter is that whoever gave their raw products for finished ones was losing out. With the GE this is now obvious -- rather than give up your raw products for finished ones, sell them and you can buy even MORE finished product. Thus it was unfair for two reasons: One, for the one giving up raw materials, and two: for everybody else, who didn't get the opportunity to train at a lower cost. People need to start getting used to the GE now, and treat themselves fairly now that trading is no longer a hassle. Jagex is forcing you, raw materials givers, to get the most out of your hard work. Yes, gifts are no longer possible, but this is all the more reason for people to work for themselves now. I agree with some that it's somewhat of a hassle when group monster hunting, but perhaps now people will simply bring a big stack of coins so that exchanging items is still easy there. Furthermore, this isn't "communistic". The way you're using that word seems to make me think you're only using it because it has the "bad" connotation. It's still a free market, capitalistic system. People just aren't allowed to jipp themselves off now. Pots are less than herbs because people demand exp more than products, thereby raising their price. Everything else you described is explainable. In runescape, people are willing to pay for exp, rather than for time used to make products. -
I'm very impressed. With that aside, I wouldn't continue working this hard if it's tiresome. Jagex promised to actually produce a site with graphs and market trends for us based on the GE, so your hard work may be useless once that finally gets out the door. Though, that may not be for awhile, and it could be lacking in features. So, if you're interested, I don't see why you couldn't continue either.

Tip.it Times Presents: Letters to the editor #11
Sonicspeed replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
I don't particularly agree that PKing ruled the economy as much as the last letter suggested. I believe that it plays a large part in the economy, but that it isn't truly the "central hub". PKers do demand armor, runes, food, and potions, but this demand also exists in other areas. Monster hunters and duelers also demand these resources in vast quantities, and even greater demand exists through skillers--who also buy goods that PKing doesn't use (Ores? Herbs? Bars? The list goes on). It's not fair to say that PKing is the entire economy, because it isn't. -
RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card
Sonicspeed replied to qeltar's topic in General Discussion
A thorough, comprehensive review. I think you covered all the important updates in the year. What's important to remember, and you touched on this in your review, is that the effort put by Jagex in many of the most controversial updates--though some are implemented in a way that is not ideal--is commendable in of itself. We have to allow them the chance to patch them up properly. -
An Inconvenient Truth: High Alching Yew Longs Gone?
Sonicspeed replied to Gwasha's topic in General Discussion
If it's as outrageous as you believe it is, the GE price will finally be forced to be corrected to the real market price. There isn't anything to fear, as their price will likely plummet come January.
