simo498
i wanna do devious mind quest, but i need 65 smithing. I am currently at 59, and im going to 63, and going to use dwarven stout(m) for the rest. How should i lvl this?
icecube
I would recommend just mining (or buying) coal + iron and making steel plates. This would be one of the faster methods, but more costly. Or what I did for Devious Minds was using a Spicy Stew (requires Evil Dave's subquest of RFD to be complete). Since it can boost +6 leves, I could do it at 59. It takes a couple stews though.

It is an incredibly lengthy process to raise any stat by 6 via this method unless you just happen to hit it on the first few tries. Not to mention you have to mix the stew in the exact spot where you need the stat boost because you can only have one stew at a time with spices in it. You will be better served by getting your smithing level up and using a sure bet with dwarven or mature dwarven stout.

I got the correct stew within 4 tries for smithing, and within 16 tries for herblore. I found it to be a good shortcut overall.

Wow, I think you were super lucky considering there are 6 different skills that may or may not be effected by any one stew of that color, and a range of -6 to +6 on top of that! You should kill Dag Kings non-stop with that luck :D

icecube
Wow, I think you were super lucky considering there are 6 different skills that may or may not be effected by any one stew of that color, and a range of -6 to +6 on top of that! You should kill Dag Kings non-stop with that luck :D Ya I guess you're right. Well for herblore I only needed +4, but I suppose it was still rather lucky. About that stew that can raise +6, is it the same spices for everyplayer? Technically yes it uses the same spices for everyone. However, the effects are random. To get a possible effect of +6 Smithing, you need to add 3 orange spices. When you drink the stew, it'll raise or lower multiple skills up to a maximum of +6/-6. This means even if it does raise smithing, it may only raise it +5. You'll need to have quite a few stews and spices. Here's the Tip.It guide on it: For special (members) Spicy Stew you need to complete the "Evil Dave : Evil stew" part of the Recipe For Disaster quest. You first need a normal stew, then you can add spices to it. Various combinations will boost some of your stats. The boosts are random, but Jagex has announced that there is a correlation between colours and affected skills (listed below, with a roughly descriptive label devised for each group). You can only use up to 3 doses of any one colour, but you can use as many colours as you like. The stat effect will be plus or minus two times the number of spice doses used. If you add 2 red and 3 brown (a total of 5 doses), the stat effect may be anywhere from -4 to +4 in a red skill, and/or -6 to +6 in a brown skill. * red (combat): Attack, Defence, Ranged, Strength, and Magic * orange (skillcraft): Construction, Cooking, Crafting, Fletching, Runecrafting, and Smithing * yellow (self-improvement): Agility, Prayer, Slayer and Thieving * brown (gathering): Farming, Fishing, Firemaking, Herblore, Mining and Woodcutting
Pixelled0
Gold ore with the gauntlets from the quest is a speedy way... even if costly... but I guess you could mine it
stimj9
If you have a bit of money, you can buy mith bars and smith into arrows. This gets both your smithing and fletching up, and if you sell the arrows, you can make the money back or you can use to train ranging. 94 mage106/100 combat67/70 prayer52 Barrow drops249/249 QP
