Tutorial: Saving as jpeg, png etc. in Paint

Featured Replies

This is a VERY basic tutorial. I am just posting it because we get this question a lot. This way I can simply post the link.

Go to the menu and select "File" then "Save as"

Then see if the drop down menu shows the option for jpg like this:

Sometimes it won't show anything but bitmap. Paint is odd that way. Just type in the file name as I did there with the quotation marks. Let's say your file name is dog. Type in

"dog.jpg"

Make sure you put the " " symbols or it won't work.

Ive found that it's not only in paint when it doesnt give any options other than .bmp. A remedy that works for me is to clear my cookies and delete my temp internet files close down explorer or paint and reopen it.

Nice guide, but yeah JPEG is not the best format to save in.

I read from a post that you can save in BMP, and upload to imageshack in BMP and the site will conver to PNG automatically. I tried it and it works, no more opening PS just to save to PNG because my MSpaint is too old to have that option. :D
