Additions to slayer

Ok, I think most people would agree that slayer is lacking a bit. There are really no initial rewards the bulk of the reward comes at 85 when you can obtain abbysal whips. After this though, I don't believe there are many incentives to go past 85.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, the point of this thread, is to give suggestions to make slayer:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

-Have more and better incentives so players will want to raise it.

 

 

 

-More intresting.

 

 

 

-More fun and intresting (but by no means less hard) to train.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Before people start flaming about farming being worse, slayer is older, and has recieved few updates (if any) whereas farming is relativly new, Jagex will probally be thinking about adding to it right now, rather than slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, my first and main point for slayer is to give it a sort of guild, well three to be exact:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One in the karamja jungle, requires level 40 slayer to enter.

 

 

 

Another in the Rellaka province, requires level 50 slayer to enter.

 

 

 

A final one on a island nearish to Rellaka (reached by boat by the rellaka slayer guild), requires level 60 slayer to enter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Those levels are not set in stone, they are just there to give people an idea, I've done a lot of thinking, and as I'm only 42 slayer I really want other players input.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, they wouldnt be called slayer guilds, they would be called the hunting lodges.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At each lodge would be another slayer master, you can get one assignment from a ordinary slayer master and one from a hunting lodge slayer master, meaning you could take a break from one assignment while still being able to train slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They would not give you the normal slayer tasks, with the intoduction of the hunting lodges, new monsters would be put in the surronding areas, meaning you wouldn't need to spend much time travelling.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It wouldnt be as simple as going to the area and training for an hour or whatever however, each area has a unique aspect to slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the rellaka province the monsters are in a nearby woodland area. Some monsters will be very agile, so you'll need to lay down traps like leaf traps (like the ones in regicide) or snares. Whereas other will be very big, although you can just attack, it's much easier to set something like a log attack (they set off a wire and a log swings into them) or a spear wall (spear dug in the ground so the beasts will skewer themselves on them).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The karamja troopical jungles will require you to track your prey, so you'll need to look for footprints, knocked over trees and the like, some sort of pet would come in handy (read on for more info).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The rellaka island has very harsh, cold weather, so the hardest part will be keeping warm and alive, make sure you wrap up warm in furs and take breaks to warm up by a fire.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I havn't figured out many monsters yet, so I'll post those later. But be sure that there will be some good drops from them, such as:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A staff/spear combination. Looks like guthans spear but with a orb in between the top. Special attack: A stab attack, then a spell while the staff is still 'inside' them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rusted arrows, get them id'ed by the tindel merchant. They have the same stats as the corrisponding arrows but a lower chance of getting them back. They can poisen your opponent (only hits a 3 however) and inflicts disease (lowers stats)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hunting spear, mainly a melee weapon, but can be thrown. (will either appear on the ground straight away, or after you've killed the monster)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hunters crossbow, slower than some bows, but more accurate and has a decent max hit seeing as it can use the special hunting bolts (bought from slayer masters or dropped by monsters)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There will be more later.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Incentives to train slayer above 85.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

-Some sort of professer who will repair your barrows equipment for cheaper if you can slay some kind of monster (which will of course require a level higher than 85)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

-A monster which needs a slayer level higher than 85 that drops either, dragon boots, dragon gauntlets, or a dragon full helm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

-Some kind of item that is given to you by a slayer master for reaching 99 slayer (that can be worn and is untradable).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I will definatly update this numerous times at a later date. Opinions appreciated.

Well can you tell me a reason other than being able to attack things that there is any point to slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The slayer skill is more like the mini game in the gnome tower, you get asked to do something then you go do it and get exp.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The only diffrents is that slay has other items you need a certain level to use.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Slayer has not got potential its basicly its own mini game that helps you train a little bit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jagex did not think slayer through which is why there are hardly ever any updates

but yes i know the ability to kill every single monster in the game must be boring, since you've eliminated the challenge, congrats tho

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i agree their needs to be an expansion of skills such as combat based skills like ranged and melee armor, magic not soo much i just think the "spell book" should have a flip page in non-wilderness where you can "flip page" to your ancient spells if you have, i dunno added the page after doing desert treasure? just an idea, that im gonna post here later

That reminds me of another drop I'd thought of, God pages 5 and 6.

 

 

 

You would be able to preach etc even if you only had the original four, these are more of expansion pages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You can only get the benefits of having them when both are in your book, these are:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Two prayers, one that leeches life, another that inflicts damage.

 

 

 

A teleport to an area that represents your god.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You could however have a 7th page for the ancient magiks, good idea :D

your thinking god books, yes i think god books should be better, 1 thing i REALLY would like about my god book is to be ABLE TO RAD IT...its a BOOK wtf, it would tell you the history of the god whose book you have taken,id REALLY love to have a zaros book because zaros is my favorite god any wy

Hmm, reading the god books would be nice, but I don't thing it should involve slayer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Perhaps, there are passages written in different languages and there is some sort of mini game where you traverse runescape searching bookcase (you have to know which book your looking for so you'll have to ask a npc)
