  1. I'm afraid the vast majority of gamers and reviewers disagree with you. Saying not to compare the two games on graphics and then complaining about WoW's skill system is a bit hypocritical. The two shouldn't be compared but if you are going to make a comment on WoW at least acknowledge it's strengths when you compare it against Runescape, oh and at least get to level 40 for a mount (you made it sound like you were lower).
  2. Most people who play RuneScape can't afford the godly computers required to run lag-less in WoW. WoW is killing monsters over and over again for a week until you hit level 70. You're right that's way harder and nowhere near as repetitive as the 20+ skills, great story lines, and tons of quests and mini-games RuneScape has. Yes, WoW has much better gameplay... You're a complete moron, and you're obviously confusing lag with framerate, wow isn't demanding in the least, the most demanding component is the RAM which is dirt cheap anyway. I didn't find the grind to 70 that bad, I enjoyed most of my time levelling espicially in outland. The only reason the trip to 70 is so short is so people can concentrate on dungeons and have a progression through those instead of levels. As for Runescape having a better storyline than the WoW lore that's just ridiculous, I'd be intrested in how much of the WoW lore you know of. RS and WoW are completely and utterly different games with different strengths. Runescape has it's skill, WoW has it's PvP and PvE combat (say what you want about the PvP but it's damn popular) personally, I much prefer WoW but I still play Runescape and I'm paying for membership, if you want to slag off WoW and want to be taken seriously kindly link me to your armoury profile.
  3. So yeah, could you just link me to your armoury profile/s so I can check your arena ratings, guild progression and gear. Wow has a fantastic art style which is why people make a fuss about the graphics, and even then I don't hear people making out like they're amazing. Anyway, people saying graphics don't make a difference are fools. Everytime you begin to explore a new area the graphics will probably be what will spur you on, when you see somebody in amazing gear, the graphics will play a big factor in how much you want it. Graphics are a huge part of a MMORPG, MMORPG's are about creating an identity for yourself and being immersed in a world, both rely heavily on graphics. On topic, it's possible IGN just meant that this would be the first time Jagex debuted the graphics at an event. It's not like Runescape gets coverage from IGN so most of their subscribers won't know about it so it'll be news to them. Oh and the 14th of July is mid July, I don't think Jagex would refer to it as early July.
  4. Are you serious? You think jagex shouldn't push content forwards because some players may get slight advantage? Guess Ectofungus and Gilded Altars should never have happened because of all the people who had reached their desired prayer levels didn't benefit from them, but all the others did. Or the countless other updates that have benefited some people more, fact of the matter is not every update is fair to everybody but when it's something so small just learn to live with it and move on and wait for the updates that will benefit you.
  5. Get a Kodo at 40  I'm stuck with a titchy snake, mainly because I don't like playing as a hunter :?
  6. Summoning articles in the kbase too!
  7. ... members would win, simple as. I can't really see much of a discussion to this, I can't see J mods fighting members to the best of their ability if it means they'd lose their jobs for one thing, just a silly topic and silly idea to be honest. Post it in questionairs.
  8. Calm down, it's not like he's made a personal attack on you. Anyway, try looking at the other summoning threads, there's lots of them scattered around the first few pages of this board already, everybody's excited for it's release :)
  9. Like WOW where their legal  They are NOT legal in WoW, or any other MMORPG for that matter. It's just that the makers of WoW appear not to be as concerned about their game as Jagex. It's because RWT's don't really have a negative impact on WOW. It's mainly combat based and all the best PVP / PVE gear is untradable and can't be bought with gold, you have to work for it.
  10. i believe a 120 can still obtain 126 or a bit higher through 99 summoning. problem is, when he goes to the f2p world is he a 126 or a 120? if he was a 126 it would be unfair because he'd fight other 126s even though not all of his stats are maxed. He'd be 120. It's not hard to understand, when you log onto a F2P world, summoning won't be used to calculate your combat skill. Just like members items are marked as members items when you're on a F2P server.
  11. The waiting F2P population? What are they waiting for, there's nothing for them to wait for. F2P getting summoning was pure speculation, the people who believed it built themselves up to be disappointed, the pictures of Mod Piers could easily be faked, but even when the pictures with Mod Paul talking to players and teeling them the truth some of you still wouldn't believe it. It's not Jagex's fault you got caught up in the speculation, and if anything they did a favour for you by confirming it's P2P in the Dev Diary. Summoning? Members? How dare they reward their paying fanbase over the players who play the game and contribute nothing to Jagex, what kind of a company are they running?! I'm annoyed about the recent updates, and I can understand why F2P'ers are too, but players like you who are acting like spoiled brats should just be quiet, you just look stupid. If you want to try summoning pay up, if you can't then too bad. You wanting to pay for members doesn't pay the wages at Jagex tower, the sooner you learn that Jagex owes F2P'ers nothing the better, it's the same with members too, if we break the rules we get banned whether or not we pay, you have to learn that you're at the bottom of the pecking order as far as Jagex is concerned, just above the last of bots.
  12. Unfair how? What exactly do you contribute to Jagex to justify you getting summoning? Pay up or stop whining.
  13. Or maybe it can turn logs into planks. Don't know how they'd make it cost gp too though.
  14. Sure why not. PS: May I add, that an excellent insight into the pro's and con's of doing this.
  15. Construction - f2ps can use normal and oak planks (since they can already chop normal and oak trees) , steel bars , soft clay ... I dont see why this one cant be f2p if we are talking about "All members skills are built around the entire member world, impossible to drop them down into f2p without opening up huge portions of the map." (its too new they wont drop just saying ..) Farming - there are alot patches in f2p land ... no problem with this one too Fletching - you dont need a bit of p2ps map for this one Herblore - no problem with the map too Slayer - well some monsters are f2p i think (bears , cows , dwarves , goblins , Minotaurs , moss giants and many more) ... and there is one f2p master there ... Thieving - you can actualy pickpocket with no problem and there are 3 f2p stoles (i meen on f2p map) so what was the "All members skills are built around the entire member world, impossible to drop them down into f2p without opening up huge portions of the map." again ? Giving them construction would be like giving them a ton of of bank space, if construction goes P2P even a little bit I wouldn't become a meber ever again, because what would I be paying for? Server space for F2P?
  16. That's very interesting but I don't really care. How about the demonic throne, steel dragon and hellhounds? It's not the fact that the skill is "hard to justify" which makes the skillcape rare. It's that few people who have the money choose to spend it on construction. What kind of things were you expecting to get at level 90+? would you rather that there was nothing like many of the other skills? I would actually be surprised but in a good way. I don't dislike of construction updates I simply think they aren't really really needed. I wasn't saying you would care, I was simply saying your point about ranging chinchompas is merely an option, whereas with construction the only option is to spend resources and thus cash. Demonic thrones etc arn't useful, the point is construction has a lot of potential but Jagex has just made it a skill to show off for the most part so the noobs don't complain that an inaccessable skill is useful. Again, because the skill is *so* expensive it makes it hard to justify when for that amount of cash you can be getting instant gratification from the respect of players who see you with a godsword or rare etc. Finally, I'm not trying to argue with you. I think we'd both like to see new things for construction, if you don't think it's the skill for me then you should see my bank after I started training it. Construction is one of the best things in Runescape, and it shows off what Jagex can do, that's why I feel it should have more, but I know Jagex wouldn't want to concentrate on it because it's not a skill for everybody.
  17. PK'ing and Staking didn't introduce money into the economy, although it does mean there are less super rich players who can level it 99 without emptying much of their bank. However, with the introduction of the GE, skillers who can't merchant can now easily get an income, with them being skills by nature they should use this on skills like con rather than saving up for things like a godblade.
  18. I'm going to assume this doesn't really apply for me. Building an entire dungeon as well as the absolutely awesome looking throne of all times AND get one of the rarest skillcapes? That's good enough incentive. Oh and skills with no return are not uncommon. Firemaking has no return, Ranging with chinchompas has no r eturn. If you don't think those things are worth paying millions for then this isn't a good skill for you. For you maybe not but for others obviously there are. The most impressive parts of your house. Sounds to me like construction isn't the right skill for you but you want them to change it to make it so. I beg to differ. Of course it's hard to get high construction! Those items that you get are tokens of vaste wealth. If you suddenly make the skill easier, those items stop being special and you will have LESS incentive to go get high levels. The fact is using planks is the only realistic way to level your construction, you can easily train ranged whilst getting hides and bones. Personally, I'm going to keep my crystal thrones rather than upgrade to demonic, apart from a steel dragon and some hellhounds I have the most impressive parts of my house there's very little for me to carry on and the main incentive is the extra rooms, there's really nothing useful at the higher levels. If Jagex made something in the 90's that was really useful or only useful for the owner of the house that could be a huge incentive, how about a potions lab with the utensils to allows you to make four dose potions from a single herb and ingredient. There's so much potential in construction that I feel is wasted, now that I have to grind several thousand planks between levels I'm finding it hard to justify, and it's that that makes the skillcape so rare. PS: Don't be surprised if there's some sort of construction aid introduced with summoning.
  19. All the people saying construction is a well fleshed out skill I really wonder if you have a half decent construction level. Unlike skills like herblore with construction you're gaining most of the exp using up your resources just to gain exp, with skills like herblore you're at least getting potions back, when it's costing you millions per level and the only thing you have to look forward to within five levels is the ability to build another room onto your house, a steel dragon or hellhounds, marble spiral staircases, marble wardrobes, magical cape racks or a demonic throne. Well, you can get flatpacks built for the wardrobe and cape rack, I decided to build a crystal throne and only have two floors so spiral staircases are a waste for me, so all I'm left with is two new monsters and an increased room cap. It becomes very very hard to justify the skill, and when you're not super rich and have to work hard for your cash to get between levels there's just not many incentives. As it stands you can make any potion or mix at 85 herblore, what do you get for 14 more levels of construction? I'm not saying herblore doesn't need an update, but either construction should be easier to level or they should be giving more incentives to level it (mainly at the higher levels).
  20. [hide] No. I'm saying stop ranting about the updates because Jagex could have made the game much worse than this. So if somebody hits me in the face, I shouldn't be annoyed, I should just be glad they didn't hit me in the face with a hammer. That's what you seem to be saying. No its not like that, its like stop complaining the goverment raised your taxes, at least they didnt take your house. Why is it not like that? After all you should just be glad it wasn't worse. [/hide] I never pk'ed, but the one part of Runescape I did still play for was construction, since the new update plank prices have risen and the large loans I gave to two of my friends won't be paid back before the fair trade rule kicks in, the point is Jagex took away the one thing I played for whether they meant to or not. I have friends who played for things like pk'ing and so I know how they feel. We're all playing the same game here, but many of us play it in a completely different way, while an update may do great things for you and how you play the game it can just as easily screw over everything other players have been working towards or enjoy doing. The fact you assume I'm a pk'er and bash me for it just goes to show that you're not looking at both sides of the story and because of that I'd say you're just as bad as the pk'ers who ranted before they'd even tried BH.
  21. If you mean you get acsess to higher spells, you're right. If you mean having 99 mage will make you hit higher then a person with 60 mage with fire blast, that's false. Magic lvls will always factor in, accuracy and defence against mage attacks. Although not with slayer dart, the max hit on slayer dart increases with 1 every 10 magic levels as far as I know, and I don't believe magic level has any impact on it's accuracy.
  22. Higher magic does not effect your damage, only the spell. Magic level effects both your magic attack and magic defense, meaning the higher your level you *should* be more accurate and take less damage from magical attacks.
  23. Runescape's combat is extremely shallow, the only gameplay element RS beats Wow in is skilling, but as most casual gamers would rather have the quick simple pleasure of killing stuff it's not a great strength for RS. Also, you may have played Wow, but by the sounds of it you didn't get past the grinding to the raids and proper PVP stuff (I havn't either, but I've played enough of RS to form a decent educated opinion of it and compare it to my current Wow experience) a lot of my friends say that Wow really begins at level 70. What exactly would Jagex do to advertise RS, they couldn't really show gameplay without showing one of RS's greatest flaws. PS: As for Wow's graphics not being all that great I disagree, they're amazing technically speaking, but the artistic style and scope I think is fantastic, I would also say Wow has fantastic lore behind it, there's so much of it and it goes pretty deep. PPS: I think one of the Lineage's beats it, also Eve for paying subscriptions perhaps.
