You usually don't take them in any kind of 'order'. C and C++ are two seperate languages, you don't need to know C in order to do C++.

My self, I took C++ my senior year although I think they're offered almost any time.

Yes, there's pretty much classes for all languages. Visual Basic 6, Visual Basic.NET, Java, JavaScript. etc. It depends on which ones your school actually offers.

The reason I'm asking this is because I'm unsure what to do. My school does not offer any and I would like to take some computer programming course, but I am not sure what to take. I'll be using an online course.

 

EDIT: I looked up a bit on Java online courses, but with that, I'm not sure where to begin. Is there a good starting place with Java, or does anywhere work?

Well it depends which way you want to go in coding. If you want to go with webpages then you want html, phpbb, and javascript among others. Or if you want to you want to make programs and other things you can learn C, C++ (note: different languages), visual basic and a lot of other languages (named the most popular off the top of my head).

I say before you take any specific language course you take an introductory to programing course to show you the basics and how to do coding in any language.

all you really need are books/internet guides. Books tend to be easier on the eyes, but internet guides are free and eco-friendly. Up to you, but there really isn't much of a need to take a class, unless you tend to have a really hard time learning things.

as far as what to learn when, for web programing start with html, (then css if you wish), then javascript, then php/cgi, etc. (at least in my opinion)

for programs and such, just go for it! there isn't enough of a similarity between languages that you should start with an easy one and them move up, though understanding arrays, variables, conditional statements, and loops may help.

You can do whatever you want..as Nadril said, you don't need to know C to move on to C++. Myself, I'm going to learn Visual Basic before I move on to C++. You can go with Java, Javascript, CSS, HTML...do whatever you want to do. I'd recommend buying a book or looking at an online guide to help you.

There's no real order in which you need to take the classes. Do what you want to do.

If I could make a suggestion though, I'd START with BASIC or Visual Basic if you've never programmed anything before. I've learned a whole lot going through a Visual Basic course at school.
