Hello, here is a little guide on how to get the rogue outfit from the Rogue's Den Maze. :) Requirements - 82+ thieving and pretty good agility. Disclaimer - This is just how I do it, it may not be the best way but it works for me. I was going to write a big shiny guide but it's a bit too complicated. Instead I have taken a load of screenies and highlighted my route. I have included two routes on the map, the yellow one is my route (82+ thieving needed), the pink route is the route needed if you a lower thieving level, it is possible but a lot more frustrating (soul destroying!). It took me about 50 successful attempts to get full rogue, that was when I was failing about 1 in 3 times, so it is quite frustrating, you just have to keep at it. For those who don't know, full rogue is an untradeable outfit you gain from doing the maze under Burthorpe. The outfit has 5 parts, legs, top, gloves, boots and mask, this can be placed in your house. You can also get a special tool that is good for questing, but I have never use it. In my experience the mask is the most difficult part to obtain. The maze can be quite fun but you don't get much xp from it, on a successful run you will get less than 500 xp in thieving and agility. The Guide First of all I would recommend anyone attempting this to read this first, this is the guide I used to do the Rogues Maze in the first place - http://tip.it/runescape/?page=rogues_den_guide.htm The yellow route on the map below is the way to do it, I will be concentrating on this for now because the other route (as I have said) is horrid. If you can see where the yellow and pink routes separate, this is the door you need to lock-pick, you need 80 thieving to pick this lock. I don't think agility matters much, you do lose agility levels for every obstacle you pass, but I have never failed any of the agility obstacles. Every trap you disable takes one thieving level off you. You need to do the maze in the most economical way so you get to the door with at least 80 thieving. Therefore if you have 82 thieving, you need to make it there while only disarming 2 traps! There is a way, read on... You need to strip naked and get a mystic gem from Brian O'Richard in the Rogues Den main area, under the pub. This is a safe minigame, the only penalty for dieing, is you have to start it again from the beginning, after getting a new gem from Brian. [hide=Start to flash powder]First a hint, have run on at all times if possible, there are places where you can walk for a bit but I try and keep run on all the time to prevent mistakes. If you run out of run then wait till you have enough back to do the next trap. As you can see, this is the start, note that I am about to click on the contortion bars without disarming the trap! Don't worry, if you have run on you wont be hit by the trap. After the bars, and after jumping through a pendulum you find yourself in this room. Ignore me in the centre, just click on the coloured spots to navigate the room, easy peasy. Yellow, green then pink, manly colours! Then you will be stood in front of a trap on the West side of the room, like so. From here, don't disarm the trap, just click on the gate in front of you (note where my cursor is) and you will run over the trap without getting hit and through the gate. You will find yourself in a small corridor with a wall trap leading on to a room with lots of floor traps, but don't stress. Position yourself where my character is and click where my cursor is, you will run past the wall trap (red mess) and into the room, safe! From here, disarm the floor by right clicking the trap in front of you and move forward one space. This is the only trap you need to disarm in this room. This picture is a bit bigger to show where you click next, you do not need to check any more traps after that first one. Just click on the minimap where the corridor opens up (where my red flag is) and you will run over every single trap. If you dont have enough run then dont even attempt this, if you are out of run you will die for sure. After the easy ledge, click in the minimap where the big yellow blob is, this is the flash powder for later. [/hide] This section is from obtaining the flash powder to what I call the blade room. The blade room on the map is the large cavern, slightly North West of the centre with four pink S's, these are set out in two rows of two. [hide=Flash powder to blade room] Take the flash powder and run (or walk if you don't have much run) to where the next yellow blob is on the minimap. This picture is self explanatory, I have never failed the floor blades. After the blades, run slightly West and then North through the pendulums and across the bridge. Again, after the easy bridge, click on the yellow blob and your character will stop just before the set of 4 floor traps below. Search and disarm the first trap then click where my yellow blob is again, you will run over the next three traps. In this picture I have already disarmed the trap, don't go running straight onto it! Go slightly north and you will find yourself at the fabled door! Now, thus far (if you have done exactly what I have said) you should of only disarmed 2 traps, so if you had a thieving level of 82+ you will be able to open the door. Note my thieving level, I have only dropped 2 levels. Once through the door click in the yellow blob on the minimap again and go through the contortion bars. Notice a pattern here? After the bars click on the yellow blob yet again, to get to a gate, this is a perfect place to walk as there are no traps, you will walk through safely. Go through the gate and head slightly north, stop just short of the first trap in the blade room.[/hide] This section is quite quick but I wanted to separate it into 3 sections to make life easier. :P [hide=Blade room to safes]Note - In this picture you can barely see the first trap because I am in the way, stop one click South of the first trap, don't misclick here, you are nearly there! When I first saw this room my mind boggled, how the hell do you get through here without dieing? Well, EASY! Simply position yourself where I am, have run on, click where my cursor/yellow blob is, sit back and smile! Your little fella will run like the wind bypassing all the traps. :D After running the gauntlet, you are in the last main part of the maze, the rogue guards. This can be quite tricky but with practise it will become second nature. Note that I have moved my view angle around so I have a better angle to hit the guard. I simply hide near the skeleton and wait for the southern guard to move towards me, then quickly click on the flash powder and then him. When he is hit you have a few seconds to run past him. Run in the direction of the yellow blob then south. See next picture - The view angle is back to normal now. The yellow arrow is the route you take from the guards to the centre, you have to jump through 2 more useless pendulums to get there but they never hit you. Once in the middle you have the task of cracking a safe, pick whichever one you want, they are all random. This is the end room, where you get the loot or not! : The problem here is any safe can hit you and send you out of the maze without the loot, sometimes you will get all the way through the maze and leave with nothing because of these annoying things! The higher your thieving level the better at this stage that is why you need to do the maze by using the least amount of thieving levels. I think the way I do it is the best way, I can get to the centre by only using 12 thieving levels. Once you have the loot you will be transported to the beginning again, it feels exactly the same as dieing, but you will have a strange thing in your inventory. :P Boots! [/hide] Here is a picture of the maze without my routes drawn on it, thank you to Tip.It for the picture. Thank you for reading, please let my know if I can improve it in any way. I will be looking at improving the layout, grammar and pictures soon (if I can be bothered!). I am also looking at putting up details of the alternative, lower level route but I shall see. To be honest, I can not abide doing the lower level route any more. It feels like walking to the moon when there's a space shuttle sat there, so get working on ya thieving level! Playing WoW Server - Ghostlands US My mian is Redshifter - Level 80 Feral Druid
Ermy
Very nice guide, but there is one thing i didn't see. Any chance you could put how long it usually takes you? Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.
judgment_al
Very nice guide, but there is one thing i didn't see. Any chance you could put how long it usually takes you? Thank you. :D I haven't actually timed myself but it is over pretty fast, I'm talking less than 5 minutes each run (don't hold me to that though!). I will time myself soon and post it on the guide. mrpez
I can show you how to skip almost every trap on the way to the chest without wasting thieving points, and you only need around 55 thieving.

I think at 55 thieving you will struggle to open the safes on a regular basis. It would be like this - :wall: There are plenty of ways to do this at all levels, and as I said in the disclaimer - this is just my way. To do it quickly and effectively I cant really see past the door at this time. For the door you need 80 thieving, there's no way around that. Having said that, I'm not discouraging people from doing this at lower levels, it can be done, just a bit slower. :) Playing WoW Server - Ghostlands US My mian is Redshifter - Level 80 Feral Druid
joepie8899
Very nice guide, I might use it when I hit the right thieving level. I got the set myself with the lower level way, around level 60. But you mentioned the safes are random - I get different clothing from each of them(I have the whole set too, so It's kinda weird :? ). Feel free to Hyt me :)

Thank you. :D That is kinda weird lol, I always went for the first safe in the room and I got the whole set out of that. Without extensive testing there's no way of finding this out I suppose. :-k Congrats on getting the whole set at such a low level (though 60 is a decent theiving lvl), I started it in my early 70s and it wasn't until 85 that I got the whole set, I was just failling too much on the safes so I went to pyramid plunder and got hooked! sessie
I can remember that you get experience which depends on the levels you lose. I am not sure but i think it was 12 times the number of levels lost, so 40 thieving levels and 30 agility levels lost in the maze gives you 480 thieving exp and 360 agility.
