Ha, I just watched the live stream and once the mission was over they showed everyone celebrating and shaking hands and all that. One guy got left hanging when he went to high five his buddy. I bet it'll be all over the internet.

Lime pickle.
My brothers and I met my mum's friends at an Indian restaurant to surprise her (my mum) for her 50th birthday. If you've never been to an Indian restaurant, generally before the meal they'll bring out poppadoms and dipping sauces or purees as appetisers. My older brother pointed to the lime pickle dip and told me it was the worst thing he had ever tasted, then managed to persuade me to try it. I was extremely hungover and hadn't been to sleep from the previous day, but decided to try it anyway and it was by far the worst thing I have ever tasted. It took all my concentration to avoid spewing all over the table, my mother's friends, and any parental respect I might have built up over the years.

(500) Days of Summer
Ah, I'm such a romantic sometimes.

Does anyone actually think this would go ahead if there were any major risks? NASA might be hopelessly inefficient and prone to occasional technical faults, but they're not going to crash a rocket into the moon if it could have any huge consequence.
Boundless curiosity is one of the few redeeming qualities of the human race - Let's do our best to encourage it, not to stifle it.

I just struggle at being able to make more emotional depth to a character. I could probably give you a damn biography, but depth is just so ... difficult for me.
Basis in reality is what is important here. Put yourself in any given situation, think how you would feel - Would your character feel the same way? If not; why not? Character depth is about forming expectations of a character and then having their actions logically progress from those expectations.
Also, you seem like a people watcher, but if you're not, it's essential in good writing. It's one of the areas where I'm confident about my writing because I find it difficult to immerse myself in situations instead of sitting back and viewing what is happening.

If you, say, didn't like the fact that when you forum jump that you have to press the "Go" button- I can change that.
Definitely do that. I always forget to hit 'go'.

Homework help is not allowed on the forums - I'm sure you'll be able to find resources somewhere on the internet.

People have died from seat belts. It isn't as rare as you think. Getting out of a submerged or burning car is hard enough as it is. Forcing you to wear a seat belt causes you to be in more danger in those situations. Besides, I've heard of those occurrences way more than I've ever heard of a human projectile killing other people.
I did a little bit of research on this and found two quite satisfactory answers.
While wearing a seatbelt does cause some further restriction (though not much, it's not difficult to get one off), it also increases your chances of being conscious in these situations. I'd rather face a very slight delay in taking my seatbelt off than be out cold and unable to do anything.
Secondly, people being ejected from cars is apparantly the biggest cause of death in road accidents. Of course the person ejected will rarely ever hit another person, but it does cause further complications on roads and for emergency services.

Ha, I listened to Venomai's picks, wrote up a reply, and Jaerk posted in the meantime. Here are my thoughts anyway:
Loungin' - Funny this - When I clicked to listen, I thought to myself: "I enjoy good rap music, but it never feels like the right time. If I like this, when would I listen to it?"
"And check the flow that's unique
For loungin', mellow out and just loungin'
Loungin', loungin', mellow out and just loungin'"
His flow is really very relaxing, but I can't say I enjoy the jazz elements. I don't know what it is, but I just haven't got to the stage where I can enjoy jazz music (other than a few Miles Davis records.
Transit Ride - Contrary to what I just said, I'm actually really enjoying the jazz elements in this song, and again the flow is fantastic. My one problem is that the lyrics aren't really saying anything to me, and that's my main focus when listening to rap music. Don't get me wrong, his rhymes are clever, but the subject matter means nothing to me.
Respect the Architect - Who's the first guy on this track? I like his voice. Again I'm enjoying the jazz elements, especially the open to close hi-hat in the beat. The piano is nice and tasteful too.
All in all I enjoyed listening to it, and it seems like it would be fantastic music to have on when relaxing with friends, but I'm not sure I'd listen to it alone. I'll devote some time to it. (After a second listen, Respect the Architect is great).
I'll listen to Jaerk's picks and edit them in later before I post another recommendation.

I don't think I have a preference - Both have their ups and downs.
I like winter because winter clothes are infinitely more suave than summer clothes, and looking suave is a favoured pastime of mine. However it's bitterly cold here during winter, and mostly without snow (which I like to look at but hate to be out in). Sitting in the pub with the fire going when it's cold outside has a nice cosiness to it, but I always slip and fall on the way home. Once I fell flat on my back two times within the space of 10 feet.
Summer I like because it's warm and that makes spending time outdoors much easier.

I agree with the above posters. You'd have every right to splatter yourself all over your windshield if that was the extent of the damage done.

But the thing is, people might just post without listening to the songs.
Perhaps you could include your thoughts on the songs you posted or a little bit about them, as that would convince me to listen to it; right now it just looks like a link of no interest.
(ignore this post if you listened to Lateralus' recommended songs and want to post something)
There's already threads where people can post what they're listening to or where they can recommend music to others. If people start posting without listening to someone else's recommendations then the thread becomes obsolete since it's just a duplicate and a moderator can remove it as spam.

How would I go about learning to play guitar if I have no musical talent whatsoever?
You just need a guitar and some dedication. I think some guitar players like to keep this secret, but all it takes is practice. Really. Anyone can learn to play guitar to an intermediate sort of level if they are dedicated enough. The internet is an unbelievable resource.
http://www.cyberfret.com + practice time = ability.
Simple as.

Dozens of links and recommendations are posted on this board every day, and, like many of you I'm sure, I've been introduced to many artists and songs that I've grown to love by Music, Movies and Television users. However, I am selective in what leads I follow and no doubt this prejudice has lead me to miss out on artists I might enjoy. This is an attempt to rectify the situation, and here is my idea...
This will be like a highly condensed combination of the Now Playing thread, the Top Albums lists and the Recommend An Artist... thread (which I realise this thread is similar to, but I think it will serve it's purpose more successfully if it catches on). A user posts 3 songs by an artist they enjoy in an attempt to spread the word. Here is the kicker: To post your artist and your 3 songs, you must listen to the 3 songs suggested by another user and leave your opinion. Maybe in this way we can break down genre barriers and expand some tastes. For anyone interested, here are some ground rules:
1 artist and 3 songs per recommendation.
Try and put some depth and thought into your comments.
Good quality links only please. I'm open to hearing new things, but if you post a terrible live recording then I will not listen to it, and you're hardly selling your artist either.
You can pick any user's recommendations to listen to and comment on, even if someone else has already done so (but let's try to give everyone a chance).
Leave some time between your comments - I don't want people rating everything that comes along so they can post more of their own recommendations.
I won't moderate this post using these guidelines, but they seem more like good etiquette than anything else, and I hope people will abide by them.
All that said, I'll get the ball rolling.

It takes me a long time to get to sleep. I read for an hour or two then wait for sleep for about 15 minutes. I get bored lying in bed so I usually listen to philosophy lectures. My bed is broken so most mornings I wake up with my mattress on the floor, having fallen through the bed during the night.

Many of my character traits are seen as flaws by other people, but they're things that I enjoy very much and consider a large part of who I am. I'm extremely hedonistic and argumentative, I drink and smoke far more than is good for me, but these are things I'm fine with and the people who I care about don't seem to mind either.
There's one flaw I recognise in myself that ties everything together and is the root of all other flaws: I just don't care about day to day life that much. I don't have any drive to make money, to have a successful career, or to live within the constraints that I've been born into.

When I was at university I used to go to bed at around 5-6am and get up for lectures at 9, then have a 2 or 3 hour nap when I got back from my last lecture. I don't know what it is, but I've always liked staying up late.

I live in the suburbs with my mother just now, and I absolutely hate it. Where I live is just a huge splat of housing which surrounds a massive area of retail parks and shopping centres. There's no decent bars, restaurants, cinemas or anywhere to enjoy yourself. I just don't feel as if there's any culture or anything happening. Living by myself in the city for two years has only made me despise the suburbs even more. Cities feel alive; suburbs are dead.
