  1. If City don't win any remaining games (one loss, two draws) we can get 4th with better goal difference. It's a long shot but it just goes to show how our season has turned around.
  2. Why? I hate the feeling of not having any form of structure in life. What good is being broke and bored? I was broke but I was never bored.
  3. Viva Suarez. What a player.
  4. I want to wrap this moment up so I can preserve it and look at it when I'm feeling down. King Kenny for the job.
  5. Kenny must be one of the nicest men who has ever lived. It's a joy to have him back in the game.
  6. Well, Torres has proved that he is completely without class, so a move to Chelsea makes sense. Everyone knows that's where arseholes belong.
  7. It'll be unforgivable for Torres to go to Chelsea, though it looks as if that will be the way of things. It's a real shame. I can understand his desire to win trophies but his timing seems odd and to leave us so close to the end of the window is not very classy at all. I really thought he was a red through and through. Football is a funny old thing. Some guy you never met decides to play for another team and it feels as though you've been stabbed in the back by a friend.
  8. I don't think other sports do have beautiful moments to the same extent that football does.
  9. Blame Game is as good a new song as I've heard in a long time.
  10. He's the greatest (however barely) living journalist.

  11. I feel the same way about all writing. It's no fun when it's forced, and I hate feeling like the things I write will be judged and analyzed. Writers force themselves to write. The whole notion of 'writing when inspired' is the naive dream of a novice. Writing pages and pages of crap is essential.
  12. People should never want or try to forget 9/11. Shame on anyone who thinks so.

    Jobs

I'm a bartender. It's probably the best job I've ever had. The pay is terrible, but I get to meet interesting people and drunk women. Very rarely do I meet an interesting drunk woman.
  14. A man after my own heart. Though I do notice a lack of For Whom The Bell Tolls, which is my favourite Hemingway novel after The Sun Also Rises. Demons is very close to Dostoevsky's best (second only to The Brothers Karamazov and perhaps The Idiot), and is supplemented nicely by The Myth of Sisyphus.
  15. Advertise your thing here. Thanks.

    Parents

My dad was an alcoholic who left when I was 8. He's sorted himself out now and I meet him for lunch occasionally. My mother is an angel. Everyone's parents mess them up on at least some level. Phillip Larkin puts it well in 'This Be The Verse'. They [bleep] you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you. But they were [bleep]ed up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another's throats. Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don't have any kids yourself.

    Shoes

Considering purchasing these bad boys. I love them (as I do most Chelsea boots), but the heel is bigger than I'm used to. Decisions decisions.
  18. People who write well are almost always voracious readers.
  19. I can't think of a flaw that I have that isn't deeply tied to something that I consider a strength.
  20. Agreed. Stekelenburg might not be the most reputable goalkeeper but he's had a damn good tournament. Forlan's goal was certainly down to bad goal keeping, but when you look at the save Stekelenburg made from Kaka's attempt in the Brazil game you can't deny his talent.
  21. What the hell happened with Huntelaar and Cesar at the end? Cesar looked as if he was purposefully leaving his goal wide open and Huntelaar still didn't want to shoot. I predicted this result in any case.
  22. Germany were a different class. Individually the English team look fantastic, but anyone who has watched the two teams throughout the cup so far should have seen this coming.
  23. I'm Scottish, but I don't have any problem with the English or the England squad (Gerrard is probably my favourite footballer), it's just the damned media getting me wound up. I can hardly listen to the pundits on the BBC.
  24. Man, I can't wait to see England come up against some real opposition. They should get slaughtered.
