  1. I don't think there's any danger of explosion or fire in a microwave, but I couldn't be sure. That aside, all your friend is going to end up with is a cake that tastes terrible. When you cook with alcohol (wines, sherries etc) the alcohol itself evaporates away and just leaves flavour.
  2. I would say Tchaikovsky is worthy of respect. Cappricio Italien is a good piece of music. I also enjoy some Bach. Other than that I agree with your picks. Rachmaninoff, Brahms and especially Chopin are very enjoyable listens.
  3. Just a lighthearted little something I thought up on the bus this morning. Nothing serious, but I like it and thought I'd share it. Snow is like makeup for the world snow is like makeup for the world covers all the spots cracks imperfections takes years off in the right light until a snowplow fingernail scoops through the illusion clumps of rainwater sludge run like mascara down the cheeks of a drunk still could do without snow it's just a pretty inconvenience makeup is not my problem so please girls keep it up
  4. Absolutely agreed. It was like a box of chocolate being forced through my pupils.
  5. I was interested when I first heard that these guys were making an album, but the music is terrible.
  6. One of the all time greats. Masterful songs.
  7. - She was in Gaslight, Casablanca and For Whom the Bell Tolls, and quite a few more... [spoiler=Grace Kelly] - Lots of movies, go see a Hitchcock film A few others like Ava Gardener, Veronica Lake, Lana Turner when she was young... Indy (I think) and I posted a few of the classic dames in the earlier pages of this thread. That's a terrible picture of Bergman though. Now that's the stuff.
  8. I was very lucky this year. Aside from the usual books etc I got a portable typewriter, a King James Bible from 1862 and a very nice bottle of single malt scotch.
  9. The Pet Shop Boys cover of Always On My Mind beat The Pogues' Fairytale of New York to number one at Christmas in 1987. Upsets don't get much bigger than that.
  10. I had my head set on fire thanks to one of those puppies. Not always fun.

Where I come from we don't let games get in the way of our drinking.
  12. Looks like this can happen before death in some cases.

Don't forget: No ladies nights No "ladies first" policy No "don't hit girls" rule No more Women Entertainment Television Women should be expected to pay for their meal at dates Somehow I have the feeling that a lot of women really don't want to be treated like men. If you truly want equality, then you should want equality for both genders instead of just picking and choosing to get rid of the things that negatively effect women and keeping all the things that benefit them. This is exactly what makes feminism annoying. When people victimize themselves over absolutely nothing and point the finger angrily at men. You seem to be forgetting that there are plenty of pro-life women out there. Yes, I do think women should get the same pay for the same work, have the ability to vote, and so on, but making men into monsters is barely the way to do it. I also think it's ridiculous to fight the establishment just for the sake of fighting the establishment. There ought to be a good reason for doing so. Like I said, I understand wanting equal rights and all, but some of the arguments feminists use are just pulled out of their behinds.... I mean purses. Yeah, I went there. Better go get your picket signs, there's a bigot on the loose. This is one of the most disgusting posts I've read. Women aren't making men into monsters, because some men already are. Some men think it's their right to rape and abuse their wife, or force her into having children. Are you saying that it's wrong for women to want to bring this to a stop? This isn't JUST FOR THE SAKE of anything, it's for equality. Of course some of the radical feminists will try and make men to seem worse than they are, but you're basically saying that women are just making a big fuss over nothing and they should just STFU and do what men say. I think you've completely misconstrued Zierro's post. That's alright though, it's to be expected from a woman. (Couldn't resist).
  14. I think we can take this as a statement and leave it at that. I'm all for self loathing, but not like this.
  15. Radiohead - Kid A The Libertines - Up The Bracket The Libertines - The Libertines The Strokes - Is This It The Strokes - Room on Fire Nick Cave - No More Shall We Part Babyshambles - Down in Albion ... Are my favourite efforts of the last decade, I think. I'm sure more will come to mind.

Such an ideology does exist. Masculism. In any case, I think the OP's definition of feminism is unfair or possibly just outdated. I imagine the kind of people you're encountering are fairly young and are impressionable, so ideas take root fiercly and quickly. My understanding of current feminist thinking is that it simply tries to promote choice for women. Be a homemaker or don't; shave your armpits or don't. Seems fair to me. I say this and yet I still go for the more traditional kind of girl, and that's my choice too. Let's none of us oppress each other and things will run along much more smoothly.

They're absolutely insane live. I don't even listen to them these days and I'd still go to see them again. Stockholm Syndrome as an encore is one of my most treasured memories.
  18. No love for Flying Circus? One of the funniest shows ever broadcast. Also I agree with Seinfeld and Curb.
  19. I think any form of afterlife devalues this life. What will be will be, and I'm alright with that.
  20. I'd get a beach house in Mauritius. Absolute paradise.

Black coffee, 2 sugars. I probably wouldn't get out of bed if I didn't have a morning coffee to look forward to.

You must be trying to get a rise out of the men. You have no idea.
  23. Less of the flaming please. Disagreeing is fine, but there's no need for the language. In any case, I don't see the problem with trying this guy. If what he did was necessary then he'll be acquitted, and if not then he deserves to be punished.
  24. Oh man, I haven't listened to The Invisible Band in a long time. There's nothing amazing about it, but it's just good easy listening. Also, looks like Play is the album that's been on the most lists so far.
  25. Mmm. I fell in love with her during (500) Days of Summer. Pretty girl.
