A temporary solution that doesn't involve a month of mining to 80 is to divide the 7 gem rocks between the two of you. 3 each, the middle is free for both of you.

EXTREMELY bad luck. Mining is based highly on chance timing, which is influenced by your level noticably (beyond the huge difficulty at the beginning) only if you have a good 10-20 levels on the requirement. Otherwise its mostly luck. Now, if you had a level of around 80 he would have no chance. But at 73, though it's close, somehow the chance changes just that much. Just be patient, eventually you will get what you want. No need to get all upset. :evil:

If you wanted only experience, I would say the 9 or so gold rocks on karamja. But seeing as how you want to craft, the crafting guild would be the best spot that I have used. Use the agility shortcut on the south wall of falador to bank your ores.
