    Today...

Went up to the city centre today to buy some stuff for University. I should be getting some new boots as well by next week hopefully :) (because I'm going to be doing a lot of walking when I'm in University). Also, I got a letter from my school telling my I have been nominated for an award, didn't tell me what the award was for but it's pretty good to be nominated for something. :D Looking on my calendar I found that it my A level results day is in 4 weeks time, scary times are ahead :(
  2. Like I said above, Milton Keynes. I assume you want to rent? If so here ya go, 1 bedroom apartments for rent: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION^940&minBedrooms=0&maxBedrooms=1&displayPropertyType=flats&oldDisplayPropertyType=flats Rightmove is very good at filtering down properties to meet your needs. It also offers properties on the map as well so you can see where the property is located. Milton Keynes is a constantly growing city, indoor Snow dome for Snowboarding/Skiing, bowling, cinema, indoor sky diving simulator and lots of parks to explore. It's very much a "green" city, but it is famous for it's roundabouts which are pretty much everywhere. :P
  3. 1. What are a few samples of common dinner assortments in the UK? What type of foods are most often consumed where you live? The UK generally has everything under the sun. Seriously. Supermarkets have a wide variety and there are hundreds of restaurants around. 2. What is the average cost of a flat/apartment to rent a month/week/day? In London? Lots and lots and lots of money. But it depends on where in London. 3. What are some things that stereotypical Americans should be aware of (item names, slang, etc) that are different from the United States? Tube = London Underground 4. What are some good television shows? Doctor Who, Spooks, Luther. They are pretty good but there are others around. 5. What are the best internet options? I'm with BT at the moment (BT Infinity/Fibre optics) and I have not had any problems with them so far. However, there are probably better deals out there for London. 6. How expensive is it to travel on a daily basis? First off, in London, you will not need a car. Just grab a rail card and that's pretty much all you need. 7. Reccomended sectors of London/surrounding areas to live? I don't live in London but avoid East and South London at all costs. 8. How large are flats? Well, London has all shapes, all sixes. 9. Is there Mountain Dew in London? Try the Food Court at Selfridges. 10. Any suggestions/comments/input/advice from yourself. Do you have to live in London? Living in London is extremely expensive, you can always commute by train to get into London. Milton Keynes is close to London and is cheaper to live than in London.

    E3 2011

Yup, they will be showing off Minecraft Portable on the Xperia play. Hoping we hear a possible release date for it. I'm hoping Microsoft have a better conference this year, I hated their conference last year. Anyone want to predict what they are going to give away this year? :P

    Today...

My A level ICT course work has been marked and moderated and now the examiner has to agree with the marks. I got the results yesterday and they are: (My course was composed of 2 Coursework units and 1 Exam): 20 Hour Exam: B Grade - very pleased with this! I was predicted to get a Grade C. 1st Coursework unit: A Grade - I knew I achieved this grade before hand through feedback before the final deadline. 2nd Coursework Unit: A Grade - very surprised about this! I thought I was at a B grade at this but after the final submission, it was improved to an A grade. My overall grade for the whole A level course is Grade B. :D I'm very happy with this, as I was originally predicted to achieve a Grade D. The best bit about me achieving this grade is that I have secured my University insurance offer (as a Grade B is equivalent to 100 points and my insurance wants 100 points). So I'm definitely going to University this year! I only need 50 more points for my first choice so I'm hoping I can achieve get those last few points in my exams next month. For those who are wondering in regards why the entry requirements are so low for me; my school underestimated me for my predicted grades and I'm expected to at least exceed these predictions by at least a grade. I could achieve 260 points overall which means I will be overqualified for my 1st choice by 110 points
  12. Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! I've made an edit to the first post (regarding about the Graphics card inside the Dell Precision M6600) and I'd like to hear more suggestions and feedback, cheers! (If you've got a URL link of any laptop in particular, link it! But please make sure all currency is in GBP)
  13. Hey everyone. I'm going to University this year studying Computer Science and I'm looking for a laptop with some power behind it (since I'm going to need it for my course) and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a decent laptop? Money isn't an issue but I don't want something which costs 3K+ (in case it gets stolen), I'd prefer it if it had a laptop dock (to connect it to an external monitor, mouse and keyboard) and a bit of gaming power. I have already found 2 possibilities and I'd like your feedback. My first possibility is the Dell Precision M6600. Or more specifically, the M6600 Essential: Processor; Intel® CoreTM i7 2720QM (2.2GHz/6MB cache) Operating System; Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64-Bit Display; 17.3" UltraSharp™ FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee Memory; 8GB6 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz Hard Drive; 500GB7 SATA hard drive (7200RPM) Video Card; 2048MB NVIDIA® QUADRO 3000M Optical Drive; 8X DVD+/-RW Drive Tray Load My second possibility is the Sony Vaio F Series VPCF13Z0E/B (click the link to see the specs, it would take up alot of space on the post and make it a wall of text.) I'd like some feedback on these choices and also post your own suggestions. Thanks! EDIT: Changed the Dell Precision graphics card as it wasn't 1000M, it is in fact 3000M.
  14. That's because it's lunch time for Gabe. Also Omnitec, there are nine people playing Portal 2 on Steam right now.

Got my results from my AS re-takes today. I did MUCH better than I expected! I increased my grade in each subject so I'm very happy with the outcome. Also, I got my 20 Hour ICT exam results back as well. I got a grade B and was 5 marks away from an A grade. :D So overall, an excellent day.
  17. Getting good grades is a near impossible task for me. I suffer from communication difficulties and this makes it really hard to get certain exam techniques down on the exam paper and I end up not doing so well. Which makes this most unfortunate is that I put hundreds of hours worth of effort into all of my subjects and yet I can't break the "C" barrier. It's a shame, all my teachers have given me the highest score for effort in my school but I can't get the grade I deserve. It's sad; I can't apply to the Universities which appeal to me and I'm worried that I won't be going to University at all (Since I'm living in the UK, I need to get in this year - the fees increase dramatically next year).
  18. Can anyone connect to Minecraft.net through the client? I can't, no matter how many times I try :( Anyway, as I wiped my PC last night, I lost my Minecraft world, so I'm starting again. Epic tree house in the making people.

Today, my hoody which I ordered last Friday has arrived! The good news is that it fits very nicely! On the other hand however, this means I'm a Large for most of my clothes. :(
  20. Hey everyone, I've got an update for you. Thanks for all the advice, I used Malwarebytes, Avast and Super Anti Spyware (along with my normal anti-virus Kaspersky 2010) and found nothing. However, after giving it another round of defragging the hard drive, it appears to have fixed itself. UNTIL today where Windows is now telling me I should backup my files and repair my hard drive. I saved the instructions to a memory stick so I know I need to backup and replace my drive but I ask you this: Is Windows on it's last legs now? What should I do after I replace the hard drive? Start over with a new OS? Please help TIF!
  21. Hey everyone, I've been having a reoccurring problem on my PC. I believe now that it's on its last legs and something needs to be done before the problem gets worse. My machine is running Windows Vista and since November last year (I think) it's been struggling to cope with official updates from Microsoft. Whenever I download an update and I turn off my machine, it will say it's installing (which is fine, this isn't a problem) the updates and will safely shut down. The problem appears when I turn my machine back on, it can't log onto Windows itself and I have to perform a system rollback. This is now standard procedure for every windows update I get and believe me it's really annoying. My next problem is Vista can no longer use the search function on the start menu - saying that "Windows Search Index has stopped and needs to close" or "Windows explorer has stopped working" and then it will restart. Also, Vista in general is now very slow. I've performed Virus checks (after updating the anti-virus database) and I've defragged my hard drive. There are no viruses present and defragging has achieved nothing. Here are the specs of my machine which I'm using: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. (64 Bit version) Processor Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series Primary hard disk 450GB What should I do TIF?

    Today...

I have a terrible cold. :( But I managed to survive through the day. I don't know if I'm going tomorrow, I've gotten worse throughout the day and I'm not feeling too great. Anyway, other than that I've had an okay day.

    Today...

I'm from England  Today, I've had a sore throat which sucks as I think I'm getting a cold. But to be honest though, the last time I was ill was when I had Swine Flu and that was back in 2009. Apart from that, my new wireless keyboard and mouse arrived! So far, it's great. Much better than my previous keyboard and mouse (when I'm typing, the keys don't make a lot of noise).

Just another day at School. Myself and a few others in my form were sent to a room to fill out a questionnaire from a University. It was pretty boring, 84 questions all about our experience at school  Anyway, I deposited a cheque into my bank account the other day. When I checked my account online, turns out the system credited my account twice but realized the mistake and changed it back. It was cool being rich for a few minutes :P
