Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
But because of anti-gun laws, very few people have guns, including the burglars. Its similar to the cold war, I suppose. The burglar gets a pistol, the homeowner gets a pistol. So the burglar brings a shotgun, so the homeowner also gets a shotgun. So the burglar brings a tank, and the homwowner follows suit. See what I mean? With our system, apart from the gangs and whatnot, no one has guns. And so a burglar will rarely even take a weapon, and the homeowner will have something like a cricket bat. A LOT safer, don't you agree?

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
You're missing my entire point, Of course you won't stop gang members, and people who really need or want a gun. What you will stop however, are these impulsive teens, being given one too many wedgies, noticing their dad's 'protection' pistol, and taking it to school, and wreaking havoc, as this protection pistol wouldn't have existed.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
I don't think anyone is denying that if you remove the readiness of a tool it becomes harder to get. There are implications of doing so, such implication may outweigh the cost of having guns avaliable. It's all about what price the individual puts onto liberty and freedom. @ Bold- Its what shadow seems to be doing... But what is this obsession with freedom and liberty? Americans don't have the right to masterbate whilst riding a hippo in the middle of New york, and people are cool with that. Some freedoms are just not worth the trouble they would cause, and I feel guns are one of these. Self defence is not an issue. Use a golf club, or a baseball bat instead.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
It might not be the government's fault, but in Britain, a teen certainely just can't go into their shed and take their father's gun. Lets not get into how readily avaliable guns are in Britain, my point is, if America made it a lot harder to get guns, then less households would have them, therefore less teen have access to them, therefore less killings.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
It is obvious. But like I already said, it's not just one plus one when you're dealing with the diversity of 300 million compared to a fifth of that that barely has the conflict of interest of the 300 million. Agreed, like what Parabola said too.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
I'm pretty sure the US age limit is something like 15. Besides, thats also not the point. The point is, because of this right to bear arms, a lot of households have these guns, giving the teenagers the means of these massacres, when normally they wouldn't be able to get hold of anything nearly as harmful.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
You underestimate people's imagination. A car can easily kill multiple people, a homemade molotov cocktail, etc. But we're talking about bullied, sad teenagers. Not professional assassins. The gun is the only really harmful device anyone can use.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
That's funny, he didn't mention anything about that. I guess you know more about what he says than himself. Because they have the ability to use the gun. Take out the guns, and you'll have those in its place. But that's the point. With a baseball bat, or a knife, you simply can't kill in a crowded place. You would have people diving on the killer, throwing projectiles, with nor fear of anything firing at them. Guns are the only weapons which leave the killer in COMPLETE control against multiple people.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
Trouble is, these people are rational and sane. If you gave everyone in Britain a gun, there would be civil war. The muslim extremist minorities would go crazy, the black teenage gangs in london would also go crazy, as would traffickers, and the general lowlifes. It wouldn't work.

Guns: will a ban reduce crime?
Do you think the sight of gun makes them 'snap'? That's weird. If they have the ability to kill someone, they won't hesitate using another lethal weapon. So why do you never hear of crazed knife-massacres? Or baseball-bat massacres? Sure these people might have the will, but the guns provide them the means.

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl *release*
You've lost your DS? I cherish mine. If it wasn't so filled with gaming excellence, I'd drill a hole in it and wear it on a necklace, close to my heart...

You don't need a gun to become a serial killer. A serial killer will kill no matter what happens. But what about these bullied teens who do this most often? With no gun in the garden shed, or on the mantlepiece, or whereevr you people hide them, the kid can't simply snap, and then take the gun to school to kill his tormentors.

Are you ready to die?
There are very few people I would die for. A few close friends, and a certain girl, and that's probably it. Am I selfish? Possibly. There's so much more I want to do in life however; drive, pull someone whilst sober, finish Twilight Princess, and then have a family. Am I selfish for not wanting to die for someone else when I want all of these things yet?

That was a serious comment? Bubsa's comment didn't even make sense as I said, "If you ban guns, the only people who will have guns are criminals." How does that relate to "people are born criminals"? Unless of course, people are born with guns to begin with. In that case, answer me.

Maybe it would be best to keep guns in the gangs, and not let any more bullied teens becoming serial killers though eh?

Thanks for the prompt, but i'm far too busy drowning my sorrows and playing online poker to actually 'learn' about something i'm talking about. Hah! What an absurd notion! :D Wasn't he the guy who thinks we all lust after our mothers?

Very very few of the killers in these school shootings are criminals before they do it. One day, they will snap, and impulsively go to their shed, grab the gun their dad keeps for hunting, then go crazy. If dad wasnt't allowed a gun in the first place, the kid might just punch someone instead, or maybe just top themselves, which i s a lot better than then taking several lives with them.

A shooter is definetly dead, and a man is in custody. Police don't know yet whether this arrested man is another shooter, or whether there is still another shooter around the campus.
