biggest college shooting in history
Bah screw it, I can't help but double post An interesting point Channel 4 news just made is that why is American public opinion about guns still not changed by these fairly common shootings. There was one in Britain, and that was it, gun ownership was completely regulated and now very few people do own a gun, and this is because of one shooting. Do you think the US should get tighter with gun distribution?

biggest college shooting in history
They think now it might have been an execution, by which I mean they lined students up against a wall, then shot them. edit - holy crap, just seen a video recorded by a student on his phone, and all you can hear are some shots, but it is bloody scary all the same.. :-k

Your Conscious
I remember reading somewhere that all decisions are made sub-consciously, and that your brain simply tries to rationalise afterwards why it 'made' that decision...

biggest college shooting in history
I think it's doubly horrific, because it seems to be the only school shooting that actually been effective. All the other times, the gumen had taken one or two lives, then topped themselves, but it really seems as though the killers here knew what they were doing...

Would be interesting to see these out-out-religion's-influence peoples' reactions to the dark then...

Darkness
What do you think religion has to do with it? Toddlers who have never even had religion mentioned to them are afraid of the dark. I'd wager that the age group with the highest percentage afraid of the dark has never even considered religion, nor anything outside the four walls of their home for that matter. Yes, but don't you agree most 10 year olds + have discredited their irrational childhood fears of the dark? Religion ALWAYS associates darkness with evil, and I think because we live in a society heavily influenced by the Church, this association is taken in by everyone, religious or not.

Darkness
Haha no, but I would LOVE one of those for my room..then I could use it for breaking and entering, then murder some old lady with it whilst wearing a funny nose. That makes perfect sense Parabola, do you think it is the ONLY reason, bar the instillment religion has put into us?

Darkness
Now, I just went downstairs to get myself a Coke Zero to keep me awake whilst watching A Clockwork Orange (very violent, isn't it?), and unfortunetly for me, it was pitch black downstairs. It's midnight here, and my parents went to bed a little while ago, turning off everything downstairs. And as I walked down the stairs into the darkness, I felt a lot of tension, and thought to myself, 'hey up, this could spark up the lately fairly boring Off Topic board!' [/ramble] What is it about darkness that makes it so feared by our culture? I am not a religious boy, nor am I superstitious, and yet I have my apprehensions about darkness, and this seems absurd to me, what am I (almost) afraid of? I think to myself, ghosts? Hah! The devil? Hah! Zombies? Hah!, I live in a safe neighbourhood, so crime isn't a worry, and despite all this I still reach for the light switch as soon as I can. Is it simply because I have been brought up in a country where religion is widespread? I bring this up, because I can't see where else this fear of the dark has come from. Or is it something deeper? Is there something about humans, or just me, that makes us fear what we cannot see?

What are the odds.. O_o
Haha no, it's because Tom made the same mistake the other dude made, by mixing up the numbers. If the chances of meeting some from Estonia are 100000 out of 1, then its a MASSIVE certainty, (although, isn't 1 the maximum certainty?), and so I figured he MUST live in Estonia :P

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl *release*
Well, the first 151 (and at a stretch, most of the Gold/Silver lot) were the best pokemon, but the last few hundred have been TERRIBLE. Poochyena? For gods sake, its just a freaking dog! You might as well have 3 year olds designing the pokemon in the new games...

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl *release*
I'll probably get it, because despite the fact it'll be crap compared to the original few games, it's still a Pok̮̩̉̉mon game, which means a hell of lot to do, which means I can do something when I get bored of CoD2, Zelda TP, Command and Conquer, revising for the ol' GCSE's, etc.

What are the odds.. O_o
How the hell did you calculate that? There's no possible way to ever calculate the chance of meeting someone from this forum. EVER. Sides, you mean 1/426, because 426 times to every 1 time is a pretty big chance... So you live in Estonia eh?

Playing games at work/school
We ain't so bad at the oral, its just that our teacher's prefered method of teaching is to give us a giant pack of vocab, and tell us to learn it by 3 years later... -.- And so, the entire class isn't fabulous at it.

Playing games at work/school
Ooh speaking of computers, just before we broke up for half term, my and my friend were looking for a way to get the printer to work on a non-administrator computer (ie, the ones we use). And during that, we discovered how to actually get into the school's main servers, with access to everything, stuff like CCTV footage, and people's records. So much fun to be had with a schools CCTV footage around the girls' boarding house...

Playing games at work/school
Well, in school, we have a few games. For example, in Spanish, when our teacher takes us out the room one at a time for oral practice *stop s[racist term]ing at the back*, she tells us if she see ANYONE talking, we have to have the practice in front of the class (which no one wants because we all suck, and it would be embarrassing). And so, we make orchestral versions of good songs by whistling, and general making noise without moving our mouths... Oh, and in history, we play 'History Cricket' (imaginative, I know). Me and my mate, versus another pair of friends who sit opposite us always, the second the teacher turns his back, get out the scrumpled ball of paper, and our homework diaries, and bowl and bat away...
