  1. Here are a couple of pics from last year's get together (when less than 400 people had 99 slay):
  2. Hey all ... We're putting together a 99 slayer event: viewtopic.php?f=112&t=750317 What do you think? Good idea? Fun time for high level slayers? An interesting picture opportunity of a screen full of slay capes?
  3. 99 Slayer ... If you've achieved this, you know the hard work and dedication it takes. You didn't get this 99 in a couple of days -- you worked at it. Well, why not get together with many of the other 99 slayers, have some fun, and show off your stuff? On Saturday, July 26th at 4pm EST (1pm PST, 20:00 GMT), there will be a great opportunity to do just that. All 99 slayers are invited to a party at Axe Man Jack's house (located in Yanille) for a chance to hang out, get some photos of a massive gathering of slay capes (and slay emotes), and generally enjoy themselves. If you have not yet achieved 99 slay, we would request that you do not attend this event -- one of these gatherings happen every year, so you have another year to get to 99 slay before attending! 4. I agree with most people here -- in the long run (when they get all the bugs fixed), this will be an improvement to the game. The fight caves will still be beatable -- it will just require new strategies (meaning - you people who have beat the fight caves 25 times need to get in there and help all the rest of us out!)
  5. Thought it would be helpful to get a list of all of the new Wvyern drops. I'm not adding anything that is already in the Bestiary. This is what I have so far. Draconic visage (I haven't gotten this drop, but the Knowledge Base lists it) Soul runes Blood runes Bone bolts Mith bolts (9-23) Addy bolts Rune bolts Unstrung Addy C-bow Snakeskin chaps Mith Sword Marrentill seed Earth B-Staff Addy Hatchet (wc axe)
  6. I've also gotten tired of killing Abbys .. The slayer XP rate isn't very good, I rarely get a whip, and the other Abby drops aren't very good. In contrast, I get a full load of seeds, a decent # of death runes, a couple of rune items, and usually one pair of rune boots from a Nech task. Oh, and the XP rate is a little better (usually about 1k more slayer XP per hour).
  7. Not surprisingly, AMJ's post was right on the money. This is a rare drop (I'm at 1 drop in 12 hours). Even if the drop rate is the same as a whip, you have to take into account that dark beasts are 50% slower to kill (i.e., 220 hp vs 150 for Abbys), meaning that the bows are going to enter the economy much slower than whips. Because of the low drop rate, and rapidly dropping price, the Light Path is clearing out. Very few people are down here (about 1 person for every 2 beasts, compared to the 2 for every beast I was seeing yesterday). This means that bows will not be flooding the market over the next couple of weeks. As I personally like the bows a lot, the next drop I get, I'm keeping. I have no interest in selling this bow for 5M, when it is as powerful as it is. Maybe that means a loss in profit for me. However, I honestly believe the market will come to recognize all the people "claiming" to be selling bows for 100k, or 1m aren't holding anything. When rangers try to buy this bow (because they will want it), they will find there aren't many to be purchased.
  8. Well, unless he got his buddies to post the "buying for 8m" posts.
  9. The problem was that they didn't take into account sequential odds. It's a common mistake. Think about it this way. I have level 67 agility. Perhaps that means I have a 67% chance of making it across each step. For any given step, that's not a big deal. However, as Jagex noted, there were 12 steps. Given that, the odds of me making it across ALL 12 steps was: .67^12 (i.e., .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67 * .67). That would mean that I have a less than 1 / 100 chance of completing the bridge in its entirety. Now imagine that the actual success level was much higher: 85% chance of success. That would still mean it would take me, on average, 7 times to cross the bridge. With a success level set that high, if they didn't take into account sequential odds, they would have assumed everyone would get through very quickly. Obviously, that's just not true.
  10. Well - the new dagger does have some sort of special -- I decided to wander around the new dungeon -- after attacking one of the "riders" with keris, I got this message: "You slip your dagger through a [weakness] in the creature's chitin, landing a vicious blow." It was then dead.
