  1. think of a trojan horse like a family tree where there's 1 there's 2 then 4 then ... then you need a new hard drive because its done been fried. leaves more access to worms, bombs and a bunch of stuff that you don't want. my friend did that once. He left a trojan and then his hard drive crashed and we got it up and running scanned it and found over 140 trojans 10 worms and right after I saw him throw that hard drive into the trash.
  2. csrss is a normal process its nothing to worry about I usually have about 38 processes running at same time (xp pro is a hog) I have 2 fire walls running xp one and norton and I have no problems at all. unless I'm using a voice messenger service like Google talk or yahoo voice. I've also been reading up on this where this one guy had 6 entries of the svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] viles in which 1 was spelled svch0st[Caution: ExecutableFile] which was the bad one.
  3. if all else fails ghost your harddrive or use your back up disc but its 5:40 am here and I'm about to crash. oh you can also go to a restore point
  4. US its usually ranges between $150-$200 for xp pro
  5. I'm pretty sure that microsoft and symantec pretty much formed a team to start this. I'm sure they prolly have some sort of allegiance. I still have friends that say that moxilla firefox is the safest. it provides better protection against 3rd party attacks and adware. One never knows the truth unless heard from both sides.
  6. do you know how this virus came about? were you downloading programs from sites like limewire or kazaa? most of the people that I have met on the net have got trojans from downloading junk from sites. 1. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ ~ this site is a good free online scan that will help you get rid of those nasty viruses. alot of viruses can be stopped (if you dl alot of junk) by simply deleting your tempory internet files. also go to tools in your menu and select internet options > delete cookies > delete files check the delete all off line files (for xp users) clear history and hit ok. I also like to use ad-aware since viruses seem to creep up in the most particular places. which I found that program at http://www.majorgeeks.com which is a good site that has pretty much anything that can keep your computer happy. If you have norton anti virus... seems that norton can delete and/or quarntien the virus but for some reason it still leaves that nasty lil hash mark in the registry which nortons web site will tell you how to remove the left overs. I would like to know what trojan it is. I'm an IT student and I get my kicks helping other people out on their stuff.
