  5. Code of Ethics Being a globally oriented media service, Al Jazeera has adopted the following code of ethics in pursuance of the vision and mission it has set for itself: 1. Adhere to the journalistic values of honesty, courage, fairness, balance, independence, credibility and diversity, giving no priority to commercial or political considerations over professional ones. 2. Endeavour to get to the truth and declare it in our dispatches, programmes and news bulletins unequivocally in a manner which leaves no doubt about its validity and accuracy. 3. Treat our audiences with due respect and address every issue or story with due attention to present a clear, factual and accurate picture while giving full consideration to the feelings of victims of crime, war, persecution and disaster, their relatives and our viewers, and to individual privacy and public decorum. 4. Welcome fair and honest media competition without allowing it to affect adversely our standards of performance so that getting a "scoop" will not become an end in itself. 5. Present diverse points of view and opinions without bias or partiality. 6. Recognise diversity in human societies with all their races, cultures and beliefs and their values and intrinsic individualities in order to present unbiased and faithful reflection of them. 7. Acknowledge a mistake when it occurs, promptly correct it and ensure it does not recur. 8. Observe transparency in dealing with news and news sources while adhering to internationally established practices concerning the rights of these sources. 9. Distinguish between news material, opinion and analysis to avoid the pitfalls of speculation and propaganda. 10. 6. I'm certain that I'm closer to washington than you are. ________________________________________________ The Bush Administration's Public Statements on Iraq President George W. Bush on Nuclear Capabilities: "I strongly believe he was trying to reconstitute his nuclear weapons program." Source: President Bush, Prime Minister Blair Discuss War on Terrorism, White House (7/17/2003). Explanation This statement was misleading because it failed to acknowledge the intelligence community's deep division on the issue of whether Iraq was actively pursuing its nuclear program. The statement also failed to mention weeks of intensive inspections conducted directly before the war in which United Nations inspectors found no sign whatsoever of any effort by Iraq to resume its nuclear program. The Bush Administration's Public Statements on Iraq President George W. Bush on Chemical and Biological Weapons: "We recently found two mobile biological weapons facilities which were capable of producing biological agents." Source: President Talks to Troops in Qatar, White House (6/5/2003). Explanation This statement was misleading because it claimed the purpose of the trailers was to produce biological weapons without disclosing that engineers from the Defense Intelligence Agency who examined the trailers concluded that they were most likely used to produce hydrogen for artillery weather balloons. The Bush Administration's Public Statements on Iraq President George W. Bush on Chemical and Biological Weapons: "Here's what -- we've discovered a weapons system, biological labs, that Iraq denied she had, and labs that were prohibited under the U.N. resolutions." Source: President Bush, Russian President Putin Sign Treaty of Moscow, White House (6/1/2003). The Bush Administration's Public Statements on Iraq President George W. Bush on Chemical and Biological Weapons: "We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. You remember when Colin Powell stood up in front of the world, and he said, Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons. They're illegal. They're against the United Nations resolutions, and we've so far discovered two. And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them." Source: Interview of the President by TVP, Poland, White House (5/29/2003). Bush on Al-Qaeda: "The battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on September the 11, 2001 -- and still goes on. That terrible morning, 19 evil men -- the shock troops of a hateful ideology -- gave America and the civilized world a glimpse of their ambitions. They imagined, in the words of one terrorist, that September the 11th would be the 'beginning of the end of America.' By seeking to turn our cities into killing fields, terrorists and their allies believed that they could destroy this nation's resolve, and force our retreat from the world. They have failed." Source: President Bush Announces Major Combat Operations in Iraq Have Ended, White House (5/1/2003). Explanation This statement was misleading because by referencing the September 11 attacks in conjunction with discussion of the war on terror in Iraq, it left the impression that Iraq was connected to September 11. In fact, President Bush himself in September 2003 acknowledged that "We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th." 11 more pages same as above can be found here: Analysis of Public Statements made by President George Bush http://www.bushoniraq.com/bush1.html The bush administration misled 50% of U.S citizens into believing that Iraq was responsible for 9-11...

[semi Debate/Clips]
  9. I'm sorry, but if I'm just stating the fact that this is the man 53~54 Million people voted for...He better do something good! and please, if you truly believe how he's a good president, give me a list that opposes that..and come on, how can someone that did that much damage is liked? For example: If Someone has a great personality, and is known to be a good person, but then shoots his neighbor in the head...because he was drunk..would you remember him for being the "great personality" or the fact that he shot a freaking bullet on a person's head. (sorry, the only thing I can come up in these few seconds)
  10. That last quote is commented by David Boylan, No one is doing anything about this..this is EVERYTHING. If things go on, the world would all be corrupt, full of lies, deception and illusions.
