Had carpal tunnel release surgery today. My hand is still numb from the freezing, but that seems to slowly be going away and is being replaced with some pain. The surgery itself only took about 20 minutes. It probably would've taken a bit less if it weren't for the picture taking. Not only that but the surgeon also kept lifting up my hand and pulling the opening apart so I could get a better look and she could describe everything to me. It was awesome :D Here are the pictures, although they're nothing compared to seeing the real thing. This is right after the freezing was injected. The bigger white area is where the freezing was. This was probably the most painful part, the needle felt huge. These are at different stages of the surgery, although you can't really see much difference in the pictures. All stitched up: And finally bandaged:

I'm not much of a water person. But I went with my friend and her daughter and I have to say the water isn't too bad when you get to lie on an air mattress and have a kid tow you around the lake :P I also burn easily, and from where we were sitting I managed to burn only the left half of my body :(

As of next month I'll have been living in BC for 3 years and today was the first time I've gone to a beach to actually do "beach things" like swimming.
  5. It's for carpal tunnel release. So it's just a local anesthetic on my wrist while they do the surgery.
  6. Nope, but getting to tell people that I got it from some random dude in his house is fun enough that it'll help to distract from a lack of food :P Surgery is on the 5th, and I'll definitely post when it's done. I tried to talk her into letting me record the whole thing but then she said she might get nervous and didn't think it would be a very good idea. I think it's more that if something were to go wrong, it probably wouldn't be good for her to have it on video.
  7. I've finally gotten internet back after over 2 weeks of not having it. I've missed you harpies! In my time without internet, I spent my grocery money on a tattoo and got booked into surgery and convinced the doctor to let me take pictures during the surgery :D Other than that I've literally done nothing but walk my dog, one of my coworkers dogs, and my bosses parents dog. And had a ridiculous amount of naps :P
  8. I'm now off work for a minimum of 6 weeks, but it'll probably be closer to 2 months :(
  9. Someone once told me that they knew a bunch of girls who played a prank on their little brother who was scared of spiders. They waited until he was asleep one night and covered him with elastic bands. Then without turning on any lights they woke him up screaming that he was covered in spiders. Scared of spiders or not, that would have been a horrible way to wake up.

Well I guess I'll add to the all the unhappy posts. I missed a phone call today and when I checked the voicemail it ended up being a call from the deputy who is in charge of my dads missing person case. She left the message saying she needed a sample of DNA from either myself or my sister since they don't have any of my dads on file. Then they will use that DNA to see if it matches with an unidentified bodies. Basically like saying they've exhausted all of their possible leads as to actually finding him. :(

I went to the annual Pet Expo today. Only cost me $6 to get in and I managed to get a nice haul of free stuff :D And on top of all that I also entered into at least a dozen draws, so maybe I'll win something too! Then tonight when I was taking Ammo for a walk I decided to try some "off-leash" walking. I kept his leash on him but just wrapped it around him instead of holding onto it. He is trained pretty well to never pull to the end of his leash, so I think having the leash still attached to him will be enough to keep him near me for the most part. The only issues will be if he gets spooked, sees a rabbit or something else he wants to eat, or just decides he needs to be a jerk. I took a video of our first try and I thought it went well. Though it's probably not very exciting for anyone else to watch :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR88DvLrbgA

I'm a welder/fabricator. I'm the "head" welder at the shop so I do the majority of the welding, but when it comes to the fabricating part I'm still fairly new at it. So all my [bleep] ups this week involved making mistakes in building different parts of a boat. A lot of them were simple things like cutting a piece too short or putting something in the wrong place. I've had days where things just always seem to go wrong, but a whole week of it was ridiculous. I think the stress of messing up so much just made me mess up even more. :( Yea, his breed definitely showed last night. Though I honestly shouldn't be complaining, since that's the worst he's been in such a long period of time it should be considered a good thing. But just after such a horrible week at work it sucked to have that night be one of his worst nights. I definitely put a lot of time and effort into him, as well as money <_< . I've probably put a minimum of $1000 just into training sessions. And on top of that I try to spend at least a half hour every day doing training with him, either agility or obedience. Though even with all the work that goes into him, the husky part still wins out a lot. He especially loves when he's doing something bad and he knows he is in trouble but happens to be off leash so he knows there's not a lot I can do about it since there is no catching him. Those times are the worst because it's usually in an area where he's more likely to be in danger of things like cars (he loves to walk in the middle of the road like he owns the place). Today was awesome. One of the pet store guys invited me out for drinks this afternoon so I met up with him at a bar for a couple of drinks. Then I ran home to feed the pets and came back into time for some more drinking with the guys. We went back to the same house we went to last week. It was so much fun. And I was less awkward than last weekend so that made it even better. Definitely made up for the shit week. :D

I've had a horrible week. Work sucked every day. I swear at half of the week was pointless because I kept [bleep]ing up. Sometimes just the simplest things that I should not be messing up. It was so stressful and it just got worse throughout the week. And then tonight Ammo had his agility grad for his level 4 class and it was probably our worst class in the 4.5 months we've been training at this place. He kept blowing me off and did not want to listen. At one point the trainer tried to scare him off from going into the one area and that just set Ammo off. He got so excited and went into his puppy play mode and took off around the arena. I'm so glad the week is over with. I just want to lay in bed all weekend and pretend like this week never happened

Yesterday I was invited to go hang out with the pet store guys after work and have some drinks. It was awesome. I stopped by the store just as they were closing and we hung out there for a bit and had a drink and then went to one of the guys houses. He lives in the basement suite and one of the owners of the store lives in the suite above. So we spent the evening on the patio having some drinks with a few other people I didn't know. I had so much fun. It's been so long since I've felt like that, that I actually cried on my way home, which probably makes it sound like it wasn't great. But I honestly can't remember the last time I got to hang out and have drinks and just want to have a good time with a bunch of friends. I hang out with my boss and her boyfriend (who also works with us) a lot after work, but that's different because they're a couple and they usually have their kids there and I sometimes feel like I'm just intruding on their home life. So it just felt so great to do something fun and not be worried about bills, pets, work, etc. It's been almost 3 years since I've moved out here and I've known I've missed my friends and what not, but last night it really hit me just how much I've missed being a part of a group of friends like that. I've got to admit, it's weird to feel so happy that it actually makes me sad that I've forgotten what it's like. I'm not even sure if that entirely makes sense, but I needed some way to get it off my chest :P

I went and saw Jurassic Park in 3D today. Kept me out well past my bedtime. Definitely worth it though :)

Yesterday my landlords and their kids were in the front yard doing some yard work so I took Ammo up to see them. While I was visiting with the landlords their 5 year old girl was running around the yard with Ammo while holding onto his leash. Next thing I know he's not listening to her and has his head shoved into the ground. He had found a burrow and the young rabbit that was in it! Once he had it out of the whole there was a lot of squeaking and he had it swallowed in only a matter of seconds. It was pretty funny, I just couldn't believe how fast he got it down. He's swallowed mice whole before, but the rabbit was a fair bit bigger than a mouse!

Yea, I've always thought people dressing up their dogs was stupid. But I have to admit, it is a lot of fun! I want to get him ok with sitting in a computer chair so I can have a picture of him dressed like that sitting at a desk :P

The tie was no problem. He has two different collars so he's used to me having to put things around his neck. The glasses were a little more tricky. He wanted to paw them off so I started by putting them on his face and quickly saying "Yes! Good boy!", taking them off and giving him a treat. I did that a couple times then he would sit still long enough to keep the glasses on while I gave him a treat. Then it was just a matter of timing to get a decent picture |^_^|

Took Ammo on two hikes today. Probably about 4 hours in total, one was in a new area I hadn't been too and I really enjoyed that one, minus the fact that the one trail was ridiculously steep and I felt like I was dying by the time I got to the top. But apparently there are vast amounts of trails in the park so I'll definitely be going back to check them all out. Oh and I stopped to visit the guys at the pet store and somehow ended up buying Ammo a tie. Which in turn led to me spending the rest of my evening doing this:
  20. All tucked in and ready for bed! And I think he might possibly like getting muddy...? :P
