  1. The kittens seem to be getting more confident and less afraid of their surroundings. They still haven't really done much in regards to meeting Ammo yet though. The more shy one is pretty freaked out and starts hissing when he notices him but the other wants to try and sneak up to him, which actually makes Ammo want to back away. Either way I think both will stand up to him which is all that really matters so that should help with keeping his prey drive in check. I didn't end up naming them with pirate names or naming them Rocksteady and Bebop. I did end up giving one a TMNT related name and the other is named after a Never Ending Story character. It's very hard to take a decent picture of them as they never stop moving!
  2. Hopefully you figure out what's going on and that it's nothing too serious :( For some reason, this post makes me think you're a fantastic person. I mean, in addition to my normally positive opinion. Despite all the bad stuff that happens to you, you still put so much care into the lives of living things. Even if it's a codependent thing, it seems like you're still doing more for your pets than some people do for their children. I probably do more for my pets than I do for myself. My monthly pet budget is actually more than my monthly grocery budget. I've always felt that because a pet doesn't have a choice in where they end up it's the persons responsibility to give them the best life they could have. For all I know they could have been adopted by some crazy billionaire who had nothing better to do than dedicate their lives and money to their pets (although that's a little unlikely :P) so it's not really right for me to take them in and not try to do everything in my power to give them a good life. That 's also why, despite how unbearably painful it is to lose a pet, I don't think I could ever not have any pets because I know I can at least change one animals life and hopefully give them a better life than they had. Also the reason why I normally try and adopt older cats because they tend to not get adopted :/ This time I just felt I wasn't ready for the possibility of losing a pet in only a short time due to age. I actually feel a bit guilty about that and adopting the kittens, since there really is no guarantee they will be in my life any longer than an older cat, and that I'm not being very fair to all the older cats out there :( But besides all that, I am still excited to get the little kittens. I went and met them for the first time yesterday and they are just so tiny and adorable! I'm still debating on what to name them. I would really like to name them Bebop and Rocksteady (because I'm a massive TMNT fan and I think those names would be kind of awesome), but I'm also not sure I should pass on the chance to give them pirate-themed names since this is probably the one and only time I'll have such a perfect opportunity for pirate names with them only have one eye each.
  3. Well I'm definitely getting another cat, actually two of them. I didn't really mean for everything to happen so fast, it's actually a bit overwhelming to be dealing with losing Jasper as well as now taking on two new kittens. I mean, I got Jasper probably within 2 weeks of losing the cat before him, so I know if would have happened sooner rather than later as I don't think I could handle just not have a cat, but I just didn't really intend for it to happen this quickly. I was looking at one of the pages for one of the rescues around here and came across two that I was interested in, but from looking on their site I figured I probably wouldn't even hear back about my application until the end of the week, and on top of that I wasn't entirely confident they would approve me. But I sent off the application today and by 6:30pm I had been approved and the lady had come to interview me and check out where I live. All that's left now is just picking up the actual cats. I don't think I will go pick them up until Thursday though, partly because I don't think I'm just quite ready to have new cats in my house and partly because it's not really fair to them to have me pick them up tomorrow or the next day when I would have to work the next day. At least if I pick them up on Thursday I will have 3 whole days off to spend with them. I also know that they will help keep my mind off of Jasper because they are so young that I will have to keep a constant eye on them and Ammo because Ammo will not be able to be left alone with them for quite a while. Not that I think he'll actually want to try and eat/hurt them, but more so he just isn't always aware of his size when it comes to playing and he would probably get too excited and seriously hurt them while they are so young. The one has had his eye removed and the other will have to have his removed when he is about 8 months old (or sooner if it gets bad).
  4. Thanks guys. And no I don't have any family near by, they are all at least 2 provinces away. I took Jasper in to get cremated and ended up being a lot more involved in the whole process than I had thought I would be. I helped her take a paw print from him and cut off some of his hair to put in this little display keepsake thing. Following that I watched her actually place him into the oven.. I had originally wanted to witness that part at least to ensure he wasn't being communally cremated because I didn't exactly have a lot of time to do research on cremation places. So up to this point it wasn't too bad for what I was seeing. However once the process was finished, I actually watched her take what was left of him out of the oven and sort through it so the bones could be put into the grinder and made into ash. I was somewhat uncomfortable with this but I didn't feel like I could abandon him in the end so I stayed with it. Once the grinder was done she took off the lid and when she went to set it down she accidentally hit the power button and the machine turned on again. Jasper's ashes started shooting out the top. I literally inhaled some of my cat :/ Today was a horrible day :(
  5. This morning my cat, Jasper, was running around going crazy and playing like he normally does. Then I heard him from another room making really strange noises like he was breathing weird. He died in my arms less than a minute later. The vet thinks he had a heart attack. :(
  6. Haha is it because I have all the medical problems of someone getting on in years? :P
  7. If I am it's not by much: I'm 24 in a couple of months. I also get misjudged alot, except it can go either older or younger than I am. So according to others I can be anywhere from 17 to 30. I know I'm horrible at telling the age of others. But it also could do with the fact that I honestly don't care. When I was in high school I was better friends with the parents of kids in my class than the kids in my class. And a couple years ago before I moved provinces I would have considered my best friend to be a kid who was only 8, I could go to their house and hang out with him for hours everyday.
  8. I don't know what phone you have but if it's an android and you're set up on Google Play you can enter into the Android Device Manager and there is an option to make your phone ring, even if your phone is on silent
  9. My account is older than yours And my account is a month older than yours :P
  10. Congrats on the job! I wish it was snowing in my part of Canada :( We've only had it 3 times this winter and each time it wasn't enough to cover the ground and was gone in less than a day. And last winter it snowed once for 5 minutes. I miss the snow :(
  11. That's a bit scary. Glad you're ok!
  12. O hi. My internet has been off and on lately and every time I tried to come on here it would go out or something would come up and take me away from the computer. Glad you're back and ok Cow <3: As for me, I ended up moving after the incident with Ammo and the sheep. I volunteered to move out because I figured it would just end up saving everyone the stress of me staying there when the landlords wife was in such a panic thinking that Ammo was going to attack her children. Then the landlord tried to screw me out of an additional half months rent so I ended up leaving on bad terms, but luckily I haven't heard from him since so I don't think he's going to try to fight me on that extra rent. Last weekend I ended back in the emergency room because my diverticulitis came back :( I'm still not feeling 100% today, but at least most of the pain has subsided and I'm mainly just dealing with being extremely light-headed and just feeling off. Oh and I went and saw a specialist about my hand since that is still messed up as well, and he thinks there might be 3 other things wrong with my hand/wrist. He wants me to get an MRI done so he can get a better look at what's going on inside, which means I have to have an x-ray on my head because I might have metal fragments in my eye. I also forgot that I have pins in my other wrist from when I broke that falling of some hay bales, so I'm not sure if I can do the MRI with that metal in me or not. Either way, I'm off to a good start for the new year :P
  13. Merry Christmas! My stocking is the sad little bacon stocking in the middle that has 2 things in it. The pets each had so many presents from Santa that most didn't even fit in their stockings!
  14. Well he's very anxious and affected strongly by loud noises. We were out in the back yard and there was a loud noise on the highway and he spooked and bolted away. The sheep must have seen him coming and took off. So he was already in a fight or flight mode, a very "instinct" driven thing. And then to notice "prey" running from him, it probably wasn't much of a leap to let that instinct take over. So I think it was really just an extremely unfortunate string of events that led to it happening :/
  15. That'd probably be a bit easier to do if I started buying lottery tickets :P I'm just so rattled by the whole thing. I've never seen Ammo like that. Not even when chasing rabbits/mice. He was completely gone to me. The only thing he saw were those sheep and it was just one of the worst things I've ever felt and ever witnessed. The only reason I even managed to catch him was because one of the sheep came near me and I kind of cornered it along a fence and when Ammo ran at it I bodyslammed him into the fence. That kind of snapped him out of it and he started whining and yelping because he thought he was hurt.
  16. I just had one of the most awful experiences I've ever had. Ammo attacked my landlords sheep :( They think the sheep are going to be fine, but it was dark when they looked so I'm not entirely sure they didn't miss something. Plus the sheep are most likely incredibly stressed out and it is freezing cold outside. So I don't think I can really feel like I avoided a sheep death until at least the morning. The sheep were tripping and falling trying to get away from him and I think it's just some magical [bleep]ing luck that Ammo didn't happen to get a hold of one of their throats and tear it out. And there not even just sheep in a livestock sense. They raised the one from a lamb in the house. Their daughter used to walk it down the street and stuff. And that's the one Ammo focused the most on. My landlords wife told me I'll have to find somewhere new to live and then her father came to talk to me (he lives on the property as well) and basically said that I was lucky he didn't see Ammo doing it otherwise he would have shot him.

Today I bought a mixed boxed of raw food for Ammo. It cost $140 and I should get 40 days worth of raw food out of it. So it ends up being about $60/month less than what I normally buy for him. However because it's an all at once type of thing, it takes up a lot more room in my freezer than the stuff I would buy once a week or every 2 weeks. And by a lot more room, I mean my freezer is literally filled with only his food: Even the hot dogs and ground beef in the door are his food. However the selection of meat contains a lot more lean protein than what I normally feed him. I'm hoping he doesn't lose weight eating these because I really would like an extra $60/month :P
  18. And I feel like I'm years older than I am. All the stress of my hand not recovering like it was supposed to and the fact that my cat no longer wants me to sleep at night is exhausting me. I'm tired to the point of barely keeping my eyes open by 5pm everyday. I've been trying to force myself to stay awake until 9pm at least, and I don't know if I've accomplished that even once this month :P

I lived on my own right after highschool and have basically been ever since. I've had a time here and there where situations arose and I ended up with roommates out of necessity. But for the most part it has basically just been myself and my pets. Given the choice I'd choose living by myself rather than with a roommate. I'm also far enough away from all my relatives that I don't have to go to any holiday events and I never see them unless they were to actually come out to see me (and luckily most won't). It's awesome, I love it :D
  20. My dog can be a bit of a jerk :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_E8cYlarLE&feature=youtu.be
  21. I saw the best pumpkin decoration today that I had to stop and take a picture:
  22. Dressed up with the dog as twins! It was hard to get a good picture since the fireworks had started and he was freaking out. Plus there was a 2 month old kitten trying to walk up to us so that was also a bit of a distraction.
  23. I think it's called a Goblin Shark
