    Dragon Dagger - Lost City

    Dragon Halberd - Regicide

Dragon Square Shield - Legends' Quest

  2. This is NOT a request for skillcapes of any kind for f2p.

News : RSOF thread restarted. Quick Find Code is: 77-78-995-58649862

Short Version: Make skillcapes wearable, not obtainable, in f2p.

My idea is that skillcapes must still be bought in members but are f2p. This means that they can be taken off and worn again in free worlds. This does not mean that free players can buy skill capes. This will benefit former members that own skill capes and members that are taking a break from P2P.

Some members items are available to free players. Colored gloves and some treasure trail items can only be obtained in members worlds. These items are for show. Skill capes are untradable but serve the same purpose.

I'd think of it as a thank you from Jagex to the players that have played long enough to recieve a skill cape. Skill capes wouldn't be annoying and the incentive to join members to get skill capes would still be there.

Reasons of why this would be useful:

-Able to take off cape so you won't get bothered by people asking you to do your skill cape emote

-Able to wear team capes to clan events

-Able to wear any cape for any purpose

-Able to change default clothing from clothes shop (must take off cape to change appearance at the moment)

-Able to ride gnome copter (must take off cape to ride and is required to finish the lumbridge achievement diary)

-Able to switch between multiple skill capes for members and f2p

-Able to wear holiday event capes, such as the Chocotrice cape and the Warlock/Witch cape (credit to Kaida23)

    -Defence bonus (debatable)

-Other will be able to see that you are 99 in a skill and ask for assistance more easily, instead of shouting out "Need level 90+ smither assistance!" (credit to Angat14)

-Be able to re-equip your cape as you may have died to a [monster] or something and was able to pick up your cape from your grave but unable to wear it again (credit to Angat14)

-Convenient for players that go f2p for a month (credit to n00bfiterpk6)

-Would allow players to do Bounty Hunter and PvP worlds and events like the MSSW(credit to Caromon)

    -Please contribute more!

    Good Comments and Suggestions:

It makes little sense for Jagex not to make an exception for this this 1 member's object. After all, if members can perform the emote in F2P its ridiculous that they can't take it on or off as well.

Also, leaving it so that players have to purchase a membership in order to get one means that they will see all that membership has to offer and I'm quite sure a large number of them will continue being P2P.

Come back and correct yourself and I'll be happy to take you off the list :^_^:

    Special Thanks to:

Shadow_Clawe - He's the dude that ran the first thread on the RSOF side.

I will assume that saying nothing bad about this idea means that you support.

    Bumps are appreciated.

  3. Never had this problem before, but maybe you need to spell it /rscache? Or maybe you need to right click the new folder, go down to properties and check the read and write boxes and don't archieve it or something. :wall:

The "/" is placed infront automatically by the computer. Read and write boxes were already checked and it isn't archived. Still not working.

  4. Message I get when I try to load runescape on my new laptop.

[hide=]Error_loader_nocache - Unable to create cache directory.

Runescape was unable to find a suitable place to store its temporary files. To solve this please either:

Login to your computer as an 'administator' user, and then try loading RuneScape again. This should give it sufficient access to create its temporary cache.

Or, create a new directory called c:/rscache or /rscache. If possible, set that directory to have full read+write permissions so that all users can write to it. Runescape should then detect that directory and use it for its files.

If you are unable to do either of the above, then as a last resort you can tell RuneScape not to store any files on the harddisk. When entering the site and choosing between high-detail/low-detail also select 'Unsigned Applet Using Default Java' from the dropdown scroll at the bottom of the detail select page. You will need to do this everytime you load the game. The disadvantage of this is the game will load slower, so if possible use one of the top two solutions instead.

If problems persist then please refer to our technical FAQ which can be found in the FAQ section of our website.[/hide]

I've played rs on it before. I'm already on the admin user. I created a folder in my C: drive called rscache (deleted it now though). And still nothing. And there's no dropdown menu anymore for selecting 'Unsigned Applet Using Default Java'.

  5. RuneScape High Detail is currently only available to members, so you will need to have a subscription to play. RuneScape High Detail will be available to free players once the Beta period is over.

In The HD FAQ on RS main site.

So atleast Runescape HD will be available to f2p. The whole thing about ads probably makes full screen members only.

  6. Or, just use the pin system correctly and keep your valuables in the bank. It isn't too hard to click a few times then deposit it in your bank. I don't see why Jagex needs to take such extreme measures for people's laziness in the first place. <.< Just put your stuff in your bank and your set, long as you have a pin ofcourse.

This idea evolved from the idea that a person's inventory and what he was wearing wasn't protected by the bank pin. A person might have to leave unexpectedly or is training in a secluded area far from a bank.

  7. Half of page 16 and all of page 17 were lost :(

I was able to salvage page 18 through google.

Page 18 before loss of posts:

    [hide=]

    From page 2...

they already have something like that. Its called a password!!!!! If some one has hacked your computer and found out your password, they would probably know the pin too. or they would just guess a 4 letter combination until they found it.

P.S. This is also the second worst suggestion ever. The holiday item shop comes in first.

Do you have any idea how many possible combinations there are for a 4 number pin? Millions. Good luck guessing that.

The password is the not the same idea as this. It's an extra security barrier, and I'm guessing it would be different than the bank pin, although and extra thing to remember it would definitely help security. It's a simple idea that could definitely help.

Cons... If someone installs Spyware on your computer, it's likely they will find out this Pin number as well.

Really the most effective way to keep your account safe is to stay away from any suspicious Runescape sites, and only use your Runescape password for Runescape.

Actually, it would not be millions of combinations. Ten to the fourth power is 10,000. It is very easy to run through the combinations if someone tried one combination every 10 seconds. For a hacker, 27 hours, 46 minutes, and 40 seconds is not very long. So, your statement about there being millions of combinations is falsified and it would only take a period of two days to hack your account with a keylogger on your computer.

Yes, I support the idea, but I just want to point out to you that it would not take very long for a hacker to try every possible PIN combination.

This would also probably discourage many would-be keyloggers and be a real pain for those that actually did it.

That's what I happened to be telling afatbomba, seeing as a keylogger with constant video recording would bog down a PC, and would effectively alert a user that their PC is not running right. Razz

Glad to have your voice in on it, though. Smile

What I meant was that the large video files would be a pain for the person that does the actual keylogging, as it would also slow the "hacker's" computer down as well, making it even more undesirable to attempt in the first place. Smile

    P.S.

    Thanks for all your support.

If I was a hacker, I wouldn't spend more than a day on a single account. The hacker would still have to break through the password as well. There would also be a 15min limit for 3 pin # inputs similar to the the one Jagex already has set up.

This idea is better than the bank pin.

IF you do get your pass stolen they can't get on your account and drop what your wearing.

And you can bank as usual.

It's like a souped up bank pin, lol.

This is just like the chibi MMO Maple Story, where you're forced to enter a 4-number PIN right after you enter your password.

Except...Maple Story sucks. And with this suggestion, you can turn it off and on. If they're gonna do this, they NEED to do it at the registration page too. (Shouldv'e done that when autoers were around <.< )

    I support this idea 100%.

A few posters have mentioned that there is less of a need for this kind of security since "you can't drop trade", and people have replied "but they can still just drop your stuff and/or kill you if they're mad."

But how about if you log off wearing an amulet of fury, and log back in to find 20K unstrung maple longbows in your inventory, and no fury? Someone can still steal your items, even with trade limits.

Because I would use this option, I support it.

And to all those who don't support it because "it won't work in every case" or "it would be annoying" or "it's not necessary (just don't get a keylogger)", I say; WTF? It's an option. Just support it already, and forget about it if you don't want to use it.

    Hey... what about this...

Someone said that there are keyloggers that take screenshots when you click. Well, what if ALL the PIN numbers would dissappear when you move your mouse on them?

    For example.

    [1][5][2][4]

    [3][0][9]

    [6][7][8]

Now, let's say your PIN number's first number is 0. You see that it is in the middle, and memorise it.

Then, when you move your mouse over any of these buttons, this happens..

    [ ][ ][ ][ ]

    [ ][ ][ ]

    [ ][ ][ ]

So, when you click and the keylogger sends the screenshot to the hacker, it will have absolutely nothing informative on it! Just 10 empty red squares and your mouse!

But why is this better than the one where the numbers dissappear while clicking?

There is a risk that the logger takes the screenshot before the numbers dissappear. Using this there would be no risk at all!

What do you think about this?

Oh, and you can add me as a supporter.

  8. Well, due to the recent (sorta) updates, it doesn't look like we need to protect our items anymore.

No, we will still need this protection added. If any hacker who wishes to do damage breaks past a user's password and logs in, at the moment, the hacker has effectively free access to a user's inventory and equipped gear, to cause damage to as they please, as well as kill the player's character and send them back to the respawn point without all the stuff.

    ~Mr. D. V. Devnull

  9. Solution:

In the Account Management on the Main Menu page:

    accountmanagementna1.jpg

    This should be added...

    accountmanagement2cl5.jpg

    Advantage & Use:

This allows you to choose your preference by checking:

    1. Allow this IP address to ONLY access my account.

    2. Allow random Ip adresses to access my account.

    Conclusion:

This will prevent other people hacking your account, as our respective computers do not have the same IP address. IP addresses varry respectively to the country and location you are in the world.

This will be a strong ground to prevent them, thus, a quick action must be done NOW!

    Thank you for reading.

Don't hijack my thread. Post your own.

This wouldn't work because we might need to use a different computer. Besides, a hacker could just change the ip address once he has your password.
