in the 3-4 years ive been playing, ive barrowed, GWD, dragon (normal and metal) hunted, i even tried pking way back, castle wars was fun for awhile, duel arena is just bleh, same with bounty hunter and clan wars, ive quested and tried my hand at every skill..... what more is there to do?

For many years i have played runescape on one account or another (before settling on my current one). I remember my early days on this account, struggling along to get my levels, pushing alot of the money i earned doing this, to raise that skill this much, and i enjoyed it. my mate (not gonna name) had higher levels then me, and we had a nice little game to see if i could catch up or surpass him... anyway, once the trade limit came out, a fair few of my mates and i were annoyed as we used to help each other, giving each other this or that, or carrying things to help them with their tasks, only to find that we could no longer do so. so as my mates drifted into the mists, i continued on, doing slayer and other bits and bobs, and as time has gone on, i find myself logging in less and less. what happened to the fun? what happened to the thrill of killing that monster? has the fire gone out?

No no no, you're not going to make me out to be the stupid one here. Even if you were a billionare, and you wipe your nose with 200k (I don't know why you would, they're hard metal coins, but meh), what you did was still phenomenally stupid. You say you did it to understand the way the scam works, but anyone with half a brain can see immediately what the guy is planning to do, and how he plans to do it. Sorry, sorry ... I'm not meaning to call you stupid. I understand why you did it, I just can't understand why you did it. If that makes any sense at all. It's ok, looking back now i honestly dont know what possessed me to do it. I think I'm going to call it a learning experience and leave it at that. (And yes, it WAS stupid, but as i said, i honestly dont know what possessed me today)

I did this for a few reasons, one to try and understand what they hope to acheive, two, to see how they go about it etc.... first and only time i will ever be scammed (was i actually being scammed if i was fully aware of what was going on?)

so very true. personnally, i just cant work it out, ive worked hard on my character, gotten my stats to (IMO) a respectable level, earned my items and gp and MOST IMPORTANTLY! have a sense of satisfaction from doing that. BTW, replaced the items already :lol:

Ahh.. today has been interesting so far... Decided to sell my H1 rune kite in world 1 (its been sat in my bank collecting dust) anyway, I see this guy [No Naming Names ~Kill Life] shouting out "win my stuff", yep, a scammer, normally i dont take any notice of this sort of thing, but today i decided to see how they do it (by using myself as bait) so i follow him past the anvils (along with two other people) to stand by the cages (varrock) he goes on to describe how to "Win" his stuff, you trade a item to him, he trades it back (trust etc...), he trades other person, whoever has highest value wins. so, knowing i was going to get scammed (and not caring) i put a rune plate down as my first "bid", anyway, i hold highest bid for a minute or so and then other player (wont name) comes along with a "better" bid (i'm guessing this is a freind of the scammers) so i up my bid to rune plate, legs and 100k (trade over and *surprise* he trades it back) continues on like this for a bit and eventully i decide to leg it before i lose my stuff, so i sell my h1 kite plus a green dhide (g) when he suddenly PMs me and tells me i've won. Okay. Riiighhttt.... so i go back to the cages and again the "trust" part... so i put up what i did before, to see where it would go, when... ..he tells me the other player bid 1mil! (yeah right...)so now im expected to outbid him (note, he has my "bid", see where this is going?) so he tries to convince me to put up more then one mill, telling me to sell my stuff etc... when this fails he tries to password scam me! telling me if i give him my pass, he'll get me 5 monthes members! (2 seconds later a report abuse was sent to jagex) I lost about 200k worth of armour, (woopee, my 8th set.. im not going to miss it) but i learned the way the scammer works etc... Now, heres the question : Why? Why do these "People" do this? money gain? some sort of perverse satisfaction? or do they just find it funny? (sorry for the long post) Discuss - Shades Elfen
