Not to be *that* guy, but the slaves were freed by a republic president amongst heavy objection from much of the democratic party...To say the Democratic and Republican parties even remotely reflect what they stand for now compared to 200 years ago is extremely misguided. "Liberal" is not a party, it's a mindset.

Without liberals we'do probably be ruled by land owning whites that still enjoyed slavery so I like me some progressive thinking. Today I was told that of my team of temps that I was the most obvious choice to on-board forever so now I work in government and have 0 desire to change where I work for basically the rest of my life and it is so relieving that I'll basically never have to look for another job in my future. What a pleasant morning surprise :)

Despite quoting me Ring, I think you missed the parenthetical part of my post, so long as you're telling people they aren't listening, but I digress. My thing is that you should take every opportunity to spread tolerance and sympathy as well as empathy and knowledge. Compromise is fine by me

TIL that Ring is a racist bigoted butt head (I jest, I actually respect political opinion because it's your freedom to feel whatever the hell you want even if I disagree) Thank you Obfuscator for your posts they've been great, despite me usually disagreeing with you (as far as I remember anyway) And yes this all feels so very reminiscent of the 2004 election when I was horrified to see Bush win again, because that went so well. 2nd edit: I've also told myself that enough Republicans might hate trump enough to keep him in check but God damn it does that seem unlikely at this point

Obama's "liberal agenda" was mostly halted by a limp dick congress. All three branches are currently majority Republican which is as terrifying as it would be if all 3 were majority Democrat. And while I'm personally generally a little left, I understand the concept of checks and balances is supposed to prevent rampant radical ideology which is less likely to be the case now. I would have settled for a Democratic senate with Trump as head executive, but full on Republican makes me uneasy. Its just baffling how some of these republican candidates think. Some of their ideology in economics is valid, and they're patriotic as all get out but ffs the religious values have to go.

Pence literally supports shocking the gay out of people. Fear is valid. If it's of any consolation, America has always been run by racist bigoted butt heads and it's managed to be pretty ok. Shame well likely halt if not back peddle all the cool progressive legislature we had going for the past 4-8 years though. Trump hasn't won quite yet, but I have to get SOME sleep so I'll wake up to see the fate of my country. And it's looking pretty [bleep]ing bleak.

I'm self teaching myself SQL so maybe I can finally understand all you code monkeys when you start jabbering about programs. Maybe. I was hanging with my buddy yesterday and I hadn't seen him in a while so I asked him the latest stupid thing he did (he notoriously does the dumbest stuff) and starts off with "so I got into a car accident" Of course he was fine I was looking at him so I asked how his truck was (accurately, his dad's truck) and he says "I hit a fire truck" To which I said "how the [bleep] did you hit a fire truck" He goes "it was parked" Obviously I exclaim how stupid he is so loudly I almost missed the part when he said "For a funeral" Like dude. How the [bleep] do you hit a parked fire truck in a funeral
