Must be a climate thing for what you are used to. Here I'm much more comfortable at cold temperatures, although I wouldn't consider 15C(60F) that cold for my preference, because I can always either wear more clothes or turn the temperature up with everywhere having heat but not always AC. Yeah, I think 60F is pretty much ideal for me. Sometimes it feels a little chilly, but other times it feels a little warm. It's mid-20s (~-5C) this morning, so I wore my Winter coat instead of just the quarter-zip sweatshirt I've been wearing.

I've done this. Wife was not thrilled at first. Now it's just whatever.

[bleep] kinda name is lorelei anyway When I think of Lorelei, my head turns all around.

I have a car, my wife has a car, and we have an SUV that wouldn't be a great daily driver for infrequently pulling trailers. Her car has a hitch and works for light stuff, but I worry about overdoing it. She has a bike, I have a bike, and we have a spare bike for training new riders. We also have some (4+) uninsured bikes that we should probably fix and sell or something.

Could you not get security clearance? Python is one of the languages suggested to me when I wanted to get into programming. I wound up getting discouraged and giving up for a while. (If that's easy and I struggle with it, why bother with anything else?) It wasn't until I tried learning C that programming actually started making sense.

It's really easy to make fun of the safety crew until you're sliding down the road with ~800 pounds of Goldwing chasing you.

Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time... a long time. I actually just went through with a legal name change of my own, apparently was having flashbacks or something when my wife would use my old name. Not sure what your situation is, but I have nothing bad to say about taking a name you can live with. My first vehicle was a 1983 Nighthawk 650. It was down all last Summer, but I'm hoping to get it running again this year. It doesn't get great mileage (~40mpg), but it's a little better than a car, and way more fun. Of course, now it's not just me, and it's actually a little cheaper to take my car than to take my bike and my wife's. I had considered a scooter while I was in town, but now I live on a 55mph rural road where most traffic seems to run closer to 65mph.

This is what happens when I skim a post instead of reading it properly.

My mother used to mix up a honey, whiskey, and lemon concoction. These days, I skip the honey and lemon.

Why not lose it to your girlfriend then? You know, make it a special occasion. That doesn't seem like a horrible idea. I don't know about doing it because of an upcoming procedure, butt in general.

No arrows to the snowboards either.

My wife is into American Football. "Boring and confusing" just about sums it up from my side. She'll get all worked up and start yelling at the TV, and I'm just off to the side reminding her that television doesn't work that way. Sometimes I'd almost like to learn a little so she didn't have to enjoy it alone, but I really can't muster enough interest to overcome the noise.

It's only down to -6C here. Damned global warming, screwing up my Michigan winters.

You've waited. It hasn't gone away on its own. Roll in the film crew.

If you're not having fun, if you don't look forward to going in, start looking. If there's nothing to redeem it, you should already be gone.

10 days from now? That's a Friday, so you are probably tired of hearing that one song. Way to go on the weight loss!

Not sure whether you're planning on ditching a roommate or dating them.

I'm not proud of myself. I'm very upset with myself that I am in this situation when I could have left months ago. I don't expect you to be. No matter how you got into that situation, you're doing what you need to do to get out now. That's incredible! Nobody gets to tell you it isn't. I knew someone who had something like this printed off and hung conspicuously: [hide] [/hide] This was so she could refer to it while talking with her (then-estranged, now-ex) husband and remind herself that what happened wasn't okay and that she didn't need to make peace with him. Eventually she made it into a game of sorts, picking out where he was on the cycle at any given time. That can't be easy. You have the determination to follow through; I respect and admire that. I never had the courage to report my abusers. Most of the time, even years later, I don't have the courage to refuse go places I know they'll be. I hate that. By filing the report you're helping anyone else he might hurt in the future. But now you see it for what it was. It wasn't a good experience, but it's also not your future. You've gotten out. Yeah, that's a normal human response. It sucks, and I'm sure it feels like you shouldn't care, but you're not wired that way and it's okay that you aren't.

Maddy, I know we're not super close, so maybe this won't mean much to you... but I'm damned proud of you.

I've never understood why some guys are unwilling to have period sex. My wife refused to even talk about it for a while because of her experiences in past relationships. Put down a blanket for easy clean-up, and shower afterward if you feel like you need it. Even without menstruation, you're not all that far from bodily waste exits anyway. Don't shame someone for having natural bodily function; jump in and embrace it. Then again, I like the taste of blood.

I've been using KDE for a while, and Dolphin works pretty well for me. It was good (or maybe familiar) enough to make it onto my netbook when I was running Fluxbox.
