Runescape Exposed - Article
firstly, Qeltar, I'm quite surprised to see you posting on these ego-driven kid-infested boards - It's nice to see someone who actually cares about the game and its community around here. Maybe it might be worth a few minutes of my time to post some thoughts as well? Hi ekim.. do I know you? Anyway, thanks for the reply (and those of others). I have a confession to make: I'm the author of the article. I hadn't planned to "come out of the closet" until part 2 of the article was published (coincident with the launch of my new site, hopefully). But since I did post in this thread I realized I would only be completely honest by "fessing up". So yes, I wrote it. And part 2 (already written) will go into a lot more detail about how Jagex refuses to clean up its messes. It will also contain details of the deliberate effort they have made to legalize luring and then cover it up... as they are covering up other things. BTW I am in contact with the web masters about the problems with accessing the site from Europe. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. ~q

Runescape Exposed - Article
That's why you have to be 13 to play this game... Uh, no, you don't. A huge percentage of RS players are under 13. And if that's Jagex's official line, why are they deliberately marketing the game to kids under 13? Educating children about the dangers of internet and letting them mature more first is better than blaming online games for being not safe for children. Then why does Jagex refuse to educate the children they are trying to get to play Runescape about its dangers? ~q

Cheapest spell for barrows...
You can tank mage just fine with fire bolt, I've done it dozens of times. As for p pots, it depends on how many you use. I only use 2 sips per run, and I use prayer only for one brother that I mage, so it makes no difference for me. The savings in runes is substantial -- far more than the cost of an extra sip of p pot. For example, it takes me about 40 casts of slayer dart, which costs about 14k in runes, compared to 50 casts of fire bolt, worth around 8.5k. ~q

Cheapest spell for barrows...
Umm, what logic is that? THEY ARE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! As in you don't have to buy them! It doesn't matter that they are using up what you would usually get. Its irrelavent. If you don't have to buy them, then they are free. Also, time is money! Those lower spells are so slow that they take forever to kill all brothers! I despair for the state of education in our society these days. *sigh* They are "free" but you USE THEM UP. You lose the money you WOULD get selling them, which is the exact same as buying them in the first place. Or... If you are using them on Barrows but need deaths for say, using Ancients at CW, you then have to go buy deaths for that. Same difference. The prayer pots is a valid point, but the typical difference is only 2 or 3 casts per brother. ~q

Cheapest spell for barrows...
strictly speaking 'magic dart' is the cheapest as its technically free. your getting all the runes form the chest therefore your not spending a dime on the runes. Sorry, but as some others have already said, this is not true at all. Magic dart is not free because it wastes the minds and deaths you get from the chest. I usually do 9 runs per trip and leave with anywhere from 400 to 600 deaths and 2-3000 minds. Do you? I bet not. I analyzed the two spells over several dozen brother kills. Fire bolt (with gloves) takes about 25% more casts than slayer dart (my max is 19), but the spell costs less than half. Fire bolt costs about 170 per cast, slayer dart around 360. I usually use fire bolt so I can save my deaths for something more useful. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
Thanks for the reply. It's your forum and obviously you can run it as you see fit. If I could suggest, however, it would be a very valuable service to members if you had a thread in a more visible location to warn people about issues like this one. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
I'm disappointed that this thread was moved without a redirect. I had to search on my own posts to even find it. I can't even figure out who moved it or why. After mods in the Runescape forums decided to bury this issue I came here and posted it in General P2P because it's an issue that affects everyone and I wanted to warn people. That's all. Over here very few people will find out about this serious problem. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
This is really simple. Jagex says they are safe. They aren't. They need to either make them safe, or remove the claim and warn people that they aren't safe. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
I am new to these forums and don't want to break any rules. I am just warning people NOT to take expensive items into the houses of people they don't know, because there are problems that are not resolved that can cause you to lose them. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
Many people do not know about this. I tried warning people on the Runescape forums, but once again it is being covered up. ~q

Player Owned Houses - Not Safe
I'm not going to get into details here, but in case anyone is not already aware, POHs are NOT safe. Do NOT bring valuable items into houses of people you do not know, especially if you plan to engage in combat. ~q

Is luring an acceptable practice?
If someone is stupid enough to fall for a lure they deserve to lose their stuff... Okay, well that applies to all scams. I guess Jagex should legalize them all?

Is luring an acceptable practice?
The whole point of much of law is to defend the weak, the infirm, and yes, the stupid. There is no such thing as "this is legal because you're a moron if you fall for it." Tell that to the conmen and scammers in white-collar prisons. Sure, the one being scammed shares part of the blame, but it doesn't absolve the scammer of moral responsibility. I'm somewhat shocked that this attitude is so prevalent on this thread. I expect that you would be somewhat ticked if you got mugged and the cops said "It's your fault for being in this part of town, so we're not going to press charges." In my personal opinion, luring as defined above is item scamming, pure and simple. It's lying to another player for your own personal gain - so rule two directly applies. Can't really put it much better than that. I'm one of the people who tried in vain, for many hours, to make this point with a few other die-hards, on the Runescape forums. The Jagex mods engaged in a deliberate campaign of stonewalling and trying to hide the discussion. They simply don't want to address the issue.
