  2. You know, moronic replies like that I'd expect on the RS forums. I come to the Tip.It forums because for the most part, the level of discussion is a notch higher. Try not to ruin that. This is a place for discussion. I'm discussing the wyverns. If it doesn't interest you, move on to something else instead of making a fool of yourself. ~q
  3. a monster that takes forever to kill, uses a lot of resources, and the same ammount of xp can be received from lower level slayer monsters. I really never liked them, but i understand why previous visage hunters are angry. they don't forever to kill lol.. I have no prob killin em... When were you last there? ~q couple days ago.. gonna go back now actually to take a gander You do that... and you'll find your attitude adjusts in a big hurry. They are much worse now. ~q

  5. Slayer level 36? Come back when you have a clue what you are talking about. ~q
  6. I don't "think with my wallet" -- but I DO try to avoid doing things that are annoying and pointless. And that's what wyverns are -- to a tee. They hit harder than dark beasts and have worse regular drops than any slayer monster probably down to and including banshees. I agree that that should have been fixed. However, they went beyond fixing it -- they INCREASED how often you take mage damage from them. They also refused to fix their horrendous drops. The end result is a monster more difficult than steel dragons and black dragons, with awful drops. Why? LOL. They are HORRIBLE slayer experience. Why? Because the tasks are small: like 15 or so. By the time you get on the special gear you need for them, go to their oddball location, and spend 3 minutes plus a piece killing them, you're better off IN EVERY CASE Burthorping them and getting something else. ~q
  7. A couple of weeks ago wyverns were allegedly improved in terms of their drops. Except they weren't, because the drops still stink as I and everyone else who tried them found out. The ONLY saving grace was that with protection from melee you didn't need the stupid shield, so you could use Veracs and other methods of killing them a bit more effectively. Well, this past week some J mod went to the deliberate trouble of changing the wyverns to remove this possibility. Apparently it was considered a bug, and yes, I can understand that it doesn't make sense for protection from melee to negate the need for the shield. But they have made them now horribly imbalanced. They also appear to have greatly INCREASED the amount of damage done by their magic attack -- I just went there and was getting hit for 50+ mage damage while protecting from melee on EACH wyvern. So, while they were doing this -- while someone was changing the code for this monster -- do you think they improved the drops any? Nope. Of course not. The bones are still inferior, and the drops are garbage like random herbs and 14 water runes. A waste of what could have been a great slayer monster.
  8. Yeah, I did. Did you know that this is an urban legend and is completely false? Did you know that even if it WERE true -- which it is not -- there are millions of gambling addicts who have never set foot in a casino? No, most doctors are not "paid by the hospital". Even if they were, it wouldn't change the fact that they are highly paid for a very good reason. You have NO idea what you are talking about at ALL. Grow up, get a degree, get through medical school and internship and residency and then tell us all about it. ~q
  9. there are always good doctors too, but you're right, most just want the money. When you grow up, maybe you can become a doctor, see how much work, time and money is involved, and then see if YOU want to work for free, hmm? ~q
  10. Video games are NOT addicting because they're not chemically/physically addicting. If your computer is destroyed and you never see a game again, your body will be just as healthy as it was before the incident and you can continue your life without interruption. And yes, doctors are idiots. Uh huh. Doctors are "idiots", yet you think something can't be addicting unless it involves a chemical. What are your credentials, exactly? You speak like a complete ignoramus on this subject. Ever hear of gambling addictions? There are no chemicals involved there. Are you saying those aren't addictions? How about sex addictions? Not real? Free clue for ya: your brain makes its own chemicals in response to certain stimuli. That's what's involved in addictions that don't involve the ingestion of chemicals. And yes, video game addiction is VERY real. I discuss it extensively on my site, and this is far from the first article on it in the media. ~q
  11. I can't understand why people can't accept that it's random. Because it's human nature. People overestimate their chances of being both very lucky AND very unlucky. On the former, why do you think lotteries and casinos are so wildly successful? On the latter, you have folks who worry about planes crashing or being hit by lightning, when they are far more likely to die from something mundane like a car crash or heart attack. Thanks for the nice discussion so far. ~q
  12. They are based on a random number simulation, not numbers I just made up myself, if that's what you mean.
  13. A lot of people are quite annoyed about their bad luck trying to get a dragon visage, so I thought I'd shed some light on why it seems that some get rare drops easily while others take forever. I think part of the problem with the new draconic visage is that people don't realize that even if something has a particular drop rate, it can take MUCH longer for the 'unlucky' people to get it. I created a simulation of a rare drop to illustrate this. It computes how many tries it take to get a drop of a particular rarity -- in this case, I chose 1 in 2,000, which may be about right for the visage. I ran the simulation 200 times to represent 200 Runescapers trying to get this drop. Naturally, most people took roughly 2,000 tries to get the drop; 82 (41%) of them were between 1,000 and 3,000. On the other hand, here's the best five figures, that is, how many tries it took the 'luckiest' 5 of the 200: 9 14 20 23 38 To these people, this rare drop would seem like it was really *easy*. They just got lucky. On the other hand, here's what the 'unluckiest' 5 look like: 7,208 7,534 8,022 8,591 10,798 Now, to *these* people, the drop would seem 'impossible'. Consider if you were one of these five -- it would seem like everyone around had gotten this drop but you. But it's all just the nature of randomness. If you increase the sample size to 1,000 players, the numbers of course spread out more. The luckiest 5: 1 1 (yes, two of them) 3 6 9 And the unluckiest 5: 10,438 10,730 10,798 11,553 12,647 Overall, there were 60 players who got the drop in under 100 kills; but a whopping 111 players who took more than double the average (over 4,000 kills).
  14. If you decide to be nice.. you are doing it for yourself as much as the other person. Don't expect thank you.. just be happy that you are doing what you can to make the world a better place. IME, most people WILL be appreciative, so don't be upset by the few who are not. ~q
  15. There's a couple of things that people who compare this to whips are not taking into account. 1. Unless I'm mistaken, whips were released at the start of the Slayer skill. That means that when the first whips entered the market, there were only a tiny number of them, obtained by the very few people who power-leveled up to 85. In contrast, the day these dark bows are released there will be several THOUSAND players already able to get them. Big difference. 2. Wild pies. These will enable people with levels 85 to 89 to also go after these bows, adding several thousand more players to the hunt. I agree that they will start out in the millions, but they'll drop a lot faster than whips did. ~q
  16. Apparently the genuises complaining about this don't realize that it has always been possible to get dogs as SLAYER ASSIGNMENTS. ~q
  17. Then start doing it. And to get back on topic: if you really think Jagex had nothing to do with the writing and marketing of that book, you know absolutely nothing about publishing. ~q
  18. A bit oversimplified, but pretty close, yeah. Jagex has already said that they were intimately involved in the project. Again, complete nonsense that only someone who knows nothing about book publishing would write. ~q
  19. Why is it people complain about "cruelty" to pretend dogs but not to stuff like "your slayer assignment is to murder 134 elves"? Get real. Honestly. ~q
  20. How dare you contribute to the horrible community attitudes by suggesting that crime is okay if the victims are unwise? ~q
  21. Barrows is probably the best answer. There aren't many monsters that drop them in large quantities. ~q
  22. Scammers aren't "roleplaying" being thieves and frauds. They ARE thieves and frauds. What if someone wanted to "roleplay" being a bug abuser? ~q
  23. So, someone resurrected this thread I see. That's total and complete nonsense. Apparently some people will go to any length to protect Jagex. Jagex was directly involved in the production of the book. If Jagex didn't want that book aimed at those under 13, it wouldn't be aimed at them. Period. I'm a published author. I know how the system works. My guess is that you do not. The facts have already been laid out for anyone with a lick of decency, common sense and honesty. ~q
  24. Scamming involves tricking and deceiving the real people who are playing the game. So it IS effectively something that impacts "real life". ~q
  25. The fact that people may be "stupid" doesn't justify the behavior of scammers and con artists. Do you have the same attitude in the real world? If Granny falls for a guy who lies to her about an investment and is left penniless, then who cares about Granny because she was stupid? I'll also remind you that Jagex is deliberately targeting this game at children, and children -- shock of shocks -- sometimes lack in judgment. I'd rather be on a world with 100 naive but kind and considerate people than one "smart" jerk trying to rip people off. Grow a heart, it will serve you will later. ~q
