Jagex have messed up...
Don't be fooled by Jagex's disclaimers, which are there because of their lawyers. This game is targeted squarely at pre-teens. ~q

"It's Better to be Lucky Than Good"
Chess. But that's neither here nor there. I am not asking for all luck to be taken out of the game, just for a bit of reasonable balance. For example, there could be a way that if you don't get a d large drop after killing 1,000 mith dragons, Otto makes you perform a task for him, then awards you one as a thank-you from the Barbarians. Or whatever. There are many ways to do this. ~q

Safe-ing
I can't imagine why anyone would PK with public chat on anyway. Easiest/best way to avoid being annoyed by idiots is to "mute" them. ~q

Most PKers are immature morons, that's why. ~q

"It's Better to be Lucky Than Good"
You've totally missed the point. The current system makes getting a draconic visage far more about luck than skill. ~q

"It's Better to be Lucky Than Good"
The issue is that it isn't only in the short run that it's a problem. There are people who spend dozens of hours trying to get an item and can't -- not because they are lacking in skill or patience, but because they are just unlucky. Other people get the item in less than an hour. Sure, that's life to some extent. But Jagex has the ability to make updates where luck is not the PRIMARY determining factor of whether or not you get an item. Getting a draconic visage as a drop removes, for me, much of the sense of accomplishment. Even if I had gotten it on my first dragon kill, would I be able to tell myself I had really accomplished anything other than being lucky? ~q

"It's Better to be Lucky Than Good"
(With a tip of the hat to a RS friend of mine, who pointed out this issue in another discussion on the Runescape forums.) It's a bit of an old saw that it's better to be lucky than good, but unfortunately, Jagex seems to have taken this to heart as a design principle for its latest and greatest new items. Skill, experience and levels no longer seem to matter, only one's ability to "roll the virtual dice". Consider: 1. The Dark Bow. Player A hit 85 and stopped leveling because there was "no incentive". The dark bow comes out, so he buys some wild pies, kills a dozen dark beasts and gets a bow, which he sells for millions. Meanwhile Player B, who kept training slayer to level 92, has to spend a week there just trying to get one for himself. 2. Dragon Arrows. Oh, you want some ammo for that bow? Well you first have to be lucky enough to find a dragon impling. Then you have to loot it and hope it isn't garbage like a death tally or 6 dragonstone bolt tips. Gee, it could take you a while. 3. Dragonfire Shield. Well, the blacks and irons and steels and wyverns drop them, but we won't tell you anything about how long it takes or how frequent. Some level 77 guy with a rune hally could plink away at black dragons for an hour and score one, while a level 126 could melee hundreds of steels and mith dragons for weeks and never get a drop. 4. Dragon Full Helm. Lather, rinse, repeat. Has Jagex NO creativity at all in putting new items into the game? I mean... couldn't they come up with SOME method of allowing these interesting new items to be obtained other than a lucky drop? Is luck all they want to encourage in this game? Just as one example... Could they not have had the mithril dragons drop a special untradeable item like a "mithril scale", and you turn in say 500 of them to the barbarian dude to get a dragon full helm? Why is it always better to be lucky than good? ~q

Any use for the new potions?
After some experimentation, I now use these potions to fight mith dragons. Used properly they can be helpful. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
Ooooooooooh, you're such a stud... I'm getting all weak in the knees. Please allow me to bend down and kiss your rune boots! Ahem, now then.. back to the subject. I don't really care if you're so manly that you can kill black dragons with prayer off using bronze armor and a rubber chicken. There are thousands upon thousands of players who can easily kill blacks who could never do much of anything against brutal greens. I don't believe it is reasonable that easier monsters drop something that is supposed to be from "powerful" dragons while more difficult ones do not. Simple as that. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
Perhaps you are going to leave it because you are totally talking smack? Black dragons don't hit AT ALL. You either hide in a safespot or you use prayer. NO damage. Brutal greens have no safespots. You have to pray AND range or pray AND take damage with melee. Go and range or hally three black dragons from a safespot, and then hally three green brutals. Tell me which does more damage. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
Duh. That's what they currently are. I am saying that the brutal greens are omitted if you use logical means of assessing what a powerful dragon is. Someday you'll take a logic class and learn how to understand a simpe syllogism. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
So what? Where is it written that the color of the dragon has anything to do with it? Here's the announcement from Jagex when the dfire shield was released: "Oziach has recently found a way for members to upgrade this shield using a draconic visage - a powerful artefact from a forgotten age that is only occasionally dropped by powerful dragons." See the last four words? "Dropped by powerful dragons". Brutal greens are more powerful than black dragons. They hit harder and they are harder and more expensive to kill. Period. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
That's the whole point of the thread. Is there some reason I shouldn't be, just because a few individuals are too dense to understand or stay on the topic? No, it's not like that at all. It would be like Jagex deciding to make red dragons drop the visage and not blacks. In other words: illogical and stupid. No it's not, in any way, shape or form. Don't make analogies if you don't understand how to construct them properly. I never said that. This thread is pointing out Jagex's illogical stance. If you don't like the thread, then by all means stop coming here and think of some other thread to post on. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
I never said anything about wanting to be rich. I said that the brutal greens are more difficult than the blacks, and since the MAIN criterion Jagex used for the visage drop was difficulty, they should drop it as well. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
The shield half was never portrayed as something that was only dropped by the strongest monsters. The visage WAS. ~q still, what people are trying to achieve is getting brutals to drop visages. why? because brutals have alot less def and hp then blacks, so you can kill them alot faster if you dont take the hides up. Brutals arent strong enaugh to drop visages, and jagex was right to not make them drop it. Poppycock. They are NOT a lot faster to kill. More to the point, there are far fewer people who can kill them and it costs MONEY to kill them. I just hallied some brutal greens for fun. Try it, then go see how many people are doing that with blacks. Try camping at the greens ranging without prayer or food like people do at the blacks. ~q

Autobuyers: The Goldfarming Community's Secret Weapon
There are whole categories of autoers they could eliminate easily through code changes. Simply restrict the number of items any character can buy from a shop in a certain period of time. Problem solved. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
LOL I've ranged HUNDREDS of black dragons. I was using emerald, addy, ruby and hunter bolts before this update, when nobody even knew what they were. I literally used over 10,000 kebbit bolts at the black dragons. They are trivially simple. Poison with emerald, switch to addy or kebbit bolts, finish them off. No prayer required, don't even need the dragonfire shield! I use my unholy book for a big +8 ranged bonus. You can camp there ALL DAY never needing ANY food or anything. The brutal green dragons are immune to poison. And they REQUIRE PRAYER to kill. Anyone who can't see the difference in cost and difficulty between black dragons and brutal greens simply has no clue at all about this issue whatsoever. PS. I've seen level 90's hallying black dragons. Ever seen anyone doing that at brutal greens? Right. Think about it. ~q

Jagex considering runescape for a console release.
This is a great idea! It will improve the RS community as much as advertising on Miniclip did. Way to go, Jagex! ~q

Any use for the new potions?
If I make an effort, I can find uses for the new potions. But really, they are NOT that great. Think about it. They combine potions with food. The only time you really need that is fighting something where you need to maximize inventory -- but you can't do that here because the potions are 2 dose. So you get a tiny benefit of a few HP for a LOT of time spent getting caviar. ~q

Autobuyers: The Goldfarming Community's Secret Weapon
Autobuying is the EASIEST thing for Jagex to fix. They simply do not care. ~q

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
Amazing how many people have completely, totally missed the point. I'll try to spell it out more simply. 1. Draconic visages are supposed to be dropped by the most difficult dragons. 2. Black dragons drop draconic visages. 3. Brutal green dragons are more difficult to kill than black dragons. Ergo, brutal green dragons should -- if Jagex employed any sort of reasonable logic -- also drop visages. ~q

Wyverns are now a complete joke lol
Sorry, thought I was pretty clear. Before the shield fix they were too difficult/expensive to bother fighting based on their drops. Jagex went in and changed them, making Veracs impossible AND increasing the damage done by their mage attack -- but didn't improve the drops. As a result, nobody will fight them at all now. It's illogical and a waste. ~q
