  1. I don't understand how exactly this is "ruining runecrafting". It was always power-trainable before -- just only for the rich people. Was that really better? I don't see how. ~q
  2. Dueling rings can be easily bought for under 2k each. I have more than I'll ever use just from enchanting the ones I get from the giant mole and Miscellania anyway. Giving up that one slot seems unnecessary to me, but obviously everyone has different priorities and values. :)
  3. daigotsu, instead of wasting runes on the bank (and a slot to carry them) why not use dueling rings? Cheaper and easier. ~q
  4. Wasn't that half the purpose of random events though ? The other half being macro catching. Randoms are part of it too. And it's not just macroers who AFK, I've even seen people openly talking about doing it on various forums.
  5. It happens with all monsters, and I believe is done to prevent AFK training.
  6. Thanks for all the replies. A few responses to some specific comments... First, regarding my time and profit figures. I deliberately use conservative numbers that take into account things like wasted time, the need to occasionally go to the Abyss to repair pouches and so forth. Most people can get better XP or $ figures for short periods of time, but there will be interruptions, randoms, mistakes and so forth, and that's in part why my numbers are lower. pokstair: My rune valuation -- air:15, mind:15, water:20, earth:15, fire:10, body:10, cosmic:150, chaos:125, astral:150, nature:280, law:300, death:280, blood:450 and soul:400. flowerboy: No. QueenValerie: Thanks, hope to do more in future. :) SwordKill11: You found a mistake that I'll correct (about W36 being slower.) And you're right about the triple fires, I'll correct that as well, thanks! Dharokslayer: Not sure what you are asking me there...
  7. Thanks for the kind words. :) Sorry I couldn't post the whole thing here, but it's like 8,000 words and the formatting on a forum is limited, I can't really do indexes easily, and it was a bunch of extra work. The full article tells you the best way of using the altar (IMO) and so forth. ~q
  8. Perhaps because they're not ready? Or they want to save something for later? The ZMI altar seems to have been carefully designed by Jagex to resolve several long-standing issues for higher level Runecrafters: slow XP, the need to use runners, and the lack of reward as you increase your RC level. You can finally trade off gold in favor of experience without being forced to buy the services of other players to bring you essence. It is an excellent choice for those who want to make their own runes, don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t care about maximizing profits, and don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t want to spend their time standing around trading runners. It may put the W66 law business OUT of business. ~q
  9. Reserved for future use. (Just the one.)
  10. {Note to mods: I consulted with a Tip.It forum mod before posting, and she said it would be okay to post parts of my articles here, where I hope many Tip.It readers will find them useful. My hope is that this can stay in General as it is about a new update and should be of general interest. Thanks. --q} Why the ZMI Ourania Altar Will Change How You Runecraft Note to readers: I have written a full report on the new Ourania altar, which is published on my site as TruthScape Special Reports - Why the ZMI Ourania Altar Will Change How You Runecraft. It is too long to reformat for the forums and repost in its entirety, so I am excerpting the core results information and comparison to other methods, which I think people will find the most important. Those who want more details can reference the full writeup, including an introduction and overview, discussion of issues in using the altar, description of my recommended method and my final assessment and recommendations by level. Lots more screenshots, too! :) The ZMI Ourania Altar - Runecrafting Results and Analysis Runecrafters are primarily in this to get experience points, runes (for their own use or for money), or both. Thus, the value of the Ourania altar can largely be judged based on what runes you get, how much time it takes to get them, and what the costs are associated with getting them. Let̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s take a look at some numbers! Analysis of Crafted Runes First and foremost, Jagex has done a great disservice to this update by saying that the runes you get from the Ourania altar are ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åcompletely random̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  11. Thanks for the replies. Might have to do a few tests myself. :) ~q
  12. Does anyone know how long, roughly it takes for RC pouches to degrade? Thanks.
  13. "What is the community coming to now where a group of people cant talk without being interupted by an immiture kid." It's coming to be exactly what it has been for a very long time. And most of the "immature kids" in the game are over 13 -- some of them far over 13. ~q

Fire bolt with chaos gauntlets works fine below 55 slayer. It's about 20% slower but a lot cheaper.
  15. Maples are still the best. It doesn't matter what the logs sell for, that was never the point. You get approximately 1 bird's nest and therefore 1 tree seed per day per point you invest. I have 10 points in maples and so get 10 nests per day. That's 15k just for the nests, plus at least 100k average on the seeds. The rest goes in herbs. ~q
  16. qeltar replied to Max765's topic in Help and Advice
Barrows can be easily done at that level if you have the appropriate equipment and know the technique. And it can make money if done right. ~q
  17. Can anyone who is a higher level RC (say 70+) give us some idea of how many of what runes you get after say, 5 or 10 runs? Thanks. :) ~q
  18. Oops, missed that date. Well, the subject does still come up regularly and the points are still valid. :)
  19. The fact that someone abused your trust is NOT a good reason to not help people. Just explain that you helped him but that doesn't mean you will continue to do things for him indefinitely, or put him on ignore. ~q

"Another way to approach Barrows is to basically kill only Ahrim and Karil in the crypts, then use the safe spots within the tunnels for the remaining melee brothers. Now is this faster? " No, it's incredibly slow, actually. I used to do this when I was lower level. It saves p pots but you will take like 20+ minutes to do a run. ~q
  21. Nature implings will give you a few seeds but not much. Farming is expensive if you want to do it fast. Otherwise it's not fast. Pretty much that simple. You can get low level tree seeds cheap and they give decent XP. Be sure you do that. For herbs, you can plant kwuarms and snapdragons (use garden pie). These are expensive seeds but good XP and the herbs sell for a lot so you will make money. Be sure to use a nature ammy on the snapdragon seed plot, or that new disease-free patch. The best place to get watermelon seeds is.. nowhere. It's really slow to get them from any source other than buying off other players for big $. In fact, the best luck I've had in getting them has been the giant mole, ironically. ~q
  22. qeltar replied to drainege's topic in Help and Advice
It's easy to do Barrows without p pots, if you want to use food and spend tons of time teleporting and running around. Remember that time and money are tradeoffs, and you are usually better off finding a way to do 2, 4 or more chests per trip rather than spending your day running through the swamp. ~q
  23. This whole concept strikes me as spurious. RuneScape is a game. Are you having fun playing it? Then you "own". Are you spending your energy worrying about getting rich or how many skill capes you have compared to your friends or whatever? Then you lose. ~q
  24. We're still around, but we're getting harder and harder to find. It seems whenever I do something nice to people these days they are not just grateful, but surprised. That's a sad commentary on the state of the RS community. ~q
  25. I think it's utter nonsense. There are thousands and thousands of cool ideas that Jagex doesn't even have the time to consider implementing. They will never run out of ideas and concepts. ~q
