11th 200m Skill achieved. :) I started at approx 45m XP in the beginning of January, playing every other week due to work, with tiny bit of XP gained during my work weeks. Approximately 8-9 weeks worth of Thieving overall, happy with that.

Droptab comes to about 320m, however I’m missing the Yew and Magic logs due to doing yews daily and I already had a ton of magics from slayer/pvming, so I didn’t keep a track of those.

Next is either 200m Smithing or 120 Divination, I have yet to decide.

  2. Dimension of Disaster – 200th Quest

RuneScape's 200th quest is here today and yours to play. Venture forth right now, and enter the Dimension of Disaster!

New Varrock is capital of an alternate reality, where heroes are in short supply andZemouregal presides over a nation of the undead.

Cross dimensions and explore this strange new city: the dark heart of a Gielinor that could have been. Build up the cash and gear you need to complete five sub-quests, then finally face the necromancer himself.

Read on for full details of this huge, multi-part quest – and join us in celebrating this epic RuneScape milestone!

How to Start Dimension of Disaster:

Speak to Gypsy Aris in Varrock

    Requirements:

You must be a RuneScape member

    Requirements for the sub-quests:

Shield of Arrav | Shadow of the Storm

Defender of Varrock | The Curse of Arrav

    Helpful:

    Mid-to-high-level Crafting, Smithing and Thieving

Once you've spoken to Gypsy Aris and stepped through the portal, it's time to take a look around.

New Varrock bears many similarities to the city you know so well, but a dearth of heroism has left it looking considerably different.

    New_Varrock.jpg

Your goal is to complete all four of the sub-quests found throughout the city. Check the map for start locations. For three of these, you must have completed its equivalent quest in Gielinor proper. The exception is the New Varrock version of Demon Slayer, which requires Shadow of the Storm.

You can't take any gear through the portal with you, so you'll need to tool up once you're there. Use your skills and combat prowess to make money (a currency called 'zemomarks') and obtain equipment – by making it, or buying it from the shops.

    Activities to consider include:

    • Looting treasure chests (requires lockpick)
    • Completing New Varrock Tasks (Talk to Tiny Zemouregal in New Varrock Square)
    • Killing or pickpocketing New Varrock citizens
    • Killing New Varrock guards
    • Selling items to shops
    • Completing sub-quests (some award zemomarks)
    • Trading with other players (note that there is no Grand Exchange in New Varrock)
Note that your worn inventory and backpack contents are saved if you leave New Varrock – even if you're repeating the quest.

Beyond that, it's down to you. Get stuck in, explore, and have fun discovering New Varrock's secrets for yourselves!

    Rewards and Post-Quest Content

Completing the sub-quests awards you with XP in a wide range of skills. Some also give you zemomarks or other useful items.

The New Varrock Tasks have some sweet rewards too, including increased zemomarks for completing New Varrock's Curse of Arrav, and upgrades at each tier for the Varrock Task Set armour.

Dimensions of Disaster is RuneScape's second replayable quest. Once you finish it by completing the five sub-quests and speaking to Aris back in Varrock, you'll unlock a reward shop and the option to reset the quest. Remember that you'll keep your hard-won New Varrock items, even across quest resets.

Note that you'll only get XP and quest points on your first run through. All other rewards are given each time, though.

The reward shop accepts only silver pennies. You'll obtain some of these for completing Dimension of Disaster the first time, and with each repetition.

First up among the reward on offer is an upgrade to Darklight, increasing its damage, accuracy and special attack bonuses against demons. If you've unlocked the Quicker Killing Blows passive with slayer points, Darklight will also function as a rock hammer.

There are also cosmetic overrides related to the quest – some of which function as useful disguises for future playthroughs. There's also a Tiny Zemouregal bobblehead pet, passives which can speed up future runs through the quest, and a weekly XP lamp (which can be improved with the New Varrock Tasks).

    Enjoy!

Completing the 200th quest is an epic endeavour, and there's plenty to see and do in the city of New Varrock. We recommend taking your time, and soaking up the sights.

Dimension of Disaster is a celebration of RuneScape questing, and it's jam-packed with nostalgic nods, jokes and Easter eggs. We hope you'll have as much fun discovering them as we did making them.

Enjoy, and here's to 200 more quests! Head over to the forums to join in the discussion.

    Solomon's Store – Arrav Outfit

Adopt some New Varrock chic with the Arrav outfit – a gloriously ghoulish tribute to the undead warrior.

This five-piece outfit adds a dash of posthumous panache to any wardrobe.

Note that this outfit allows you to adopt Arrav's appearance, and is different from the various Arrav-related overrides unlockable after completing Dimension for Disaster, which resemble Arrav's gear, as worn by the player.

Purchasing this pack and unlocking all of the Arrav quest overrides will grant you an upgraded version of the Solomon's Store outfit: the Cursed Arrav outfit, complete with additional one-handed sword and shield overrides!

  3. But I would never use the ring of wealth while fighting monsters as I get crappier drops that way. I tried.

I'm curious as to how you reached that conclusion. I'm going to assume that you do not care much about efficiency, therefore a damage boosting ring wouldn't make much of a difference to you. And based on the monsters you kill, the increased chance of the Rare Drop Table drops (the 150 raw lobsters, 90 gold ore, 60 Molten glass etc) is surely worth more than the average drop of a Mithril chainbody or 5 Rune Javelins.

I would say on average the Ring of wealth is better for you to wear while killing your standard fire giants and steel dragons and monsters such as those. But of course that's going by the assumption that you do not care for a small damage boost from a Berserker or a Warrior ring.

  4. Boss Practice Mode | Instancing Improvements

Boss fights are exciting, challenging, and the source of some of RuneScape's shiniest loot, but the level of difficulty can make them off-putting to newcomers.

Boss Practice Mode is here to help, offering a safe environment in which to hone your boss battling skills until you're ready to face the real thing.

We've also trimmed down the instancing interface to the essentials, allowed you to return to instances across log-outs or game updates, and introduced three exclusive rewards for those willing to welcome and help out new players.

Read on to find out more!

    Boss Practice Mode

If you want to boss, but don't feel up to the challenge just yet, Practice mode is for you.

You'll have the option of selecting this when {C}creating an instance{C} before entering a boss fight.

A Practice mode instance is different from a regular one in several ways:

    • All deaths within the instance as 'safe' – you won't lose items by being killed.
    • No cost to start or maintain the instance.
    • Hardcore Ironman characters may die in a practice instance without losing their status.
    • Familiars persist through your death.
There are – of course – some limitations in Practice mode:
    • No XP is given.
    • No drops or other rewards are given.
    • Kills do not count towards slayer or soul reaper assignments.
    • Hard mode fights cannot be attempted in Practice mode.
To help you prepare, the Beasts interface has been updated with a 'Learn' button that gives details of each featured boss's attacks and tactics. You can also access a boss's 'Learn' page by clicking their image in the Instance System interface.

A Practice mode instance is the perfect place to break into bossing, or to brush up your skills if you're feeling rusty.

    Boss Instancing Improvements

Along with Practice mode, there are a number of other updates to boss instancing that'll make the experience smoother and simpler all round:

    • The Instance System interface has been streamlined and spruced up, so everything you need is immediately to hand in one pane, including practice and hard mode toggles.
    • The new 'Rejoin' button allows you to re-enter your last instance – even across game updates and log-outs - as long as it's got more than 10 minutes remaining.
    Help New Players, Get Rewards

There's a new set of unique rewards for those who help inexperienced boss battlers hone their skills.

When a non-Practice mode boss goes down, anyone with 10 or more kills on that boss who makes it into the top 15 damagers will receive one point for each person with fewer than 10 kills who also makes it into the top 15.

As you earn points, you'll unlock the following:

    • 50 points: mortar board head override.
    • 250 points: 'the Master' title.
    • 500 points: Cornellius the owl - a follower pet.
For someone learning bossing, there's nothing better than a seasoned pro showing them the ropes. These rewards are a 'thank you' for those of you willing to lend a helping hand.

    Enjoy!

Boss fights can be one of the most rewarding parts of RuneScape – from the gear you can get through to the friends can make – and now it's more accessible than ever.

Have fun, fight hard, and {C}let us know your thoughts{C} over on the forums.

Solomon's Store – Dark Lord Pack - Coming Soon

The Dark Lord may have been defeated during Plague's End, but now you can take on the same sinister style with the Dark Lord Pack – available today in Solomon's Store!

First up, there's a five-piece outfit to enjoy, complete with eerie particle effects. There's a teleport animation override, too, and two skill overrides: one for infusing summoning pouches, and one for altar runecrafting.

  5. Also worth noting that when doing Airuts, make sure it doesn't break down the rune spear, as very often you get a magic log, instead of the runite ore from the spear. Otherwise always break down Rune/addy armor and weapons.

  6. John Wick.

Simply a stunning movie, really surprised me. Easily one of the greatest action movies I've ever seen. Keanu Reeves absolutely kills it, plus the little appearances by Ian McShane and Willem Defoe are really good. Definitely worth watching just for the club scene alone, the cinematography is brilliant. The story itself is fairly cliché, but it just works perfectly due to the fantastic action, stunt work and camera work.

  7. Would definitely recommend making a couple of thousands of Holy and Supreme overloads. Some people also recommend Supreme Salve overload, the one with anti dragon and poison, but I personally don't see much need for it.

But yeah, definitely Holy and Supreme overloads.

  8. Ninja Update – Return of the Wildywyrm

The Wildywyrm is back! Lured by the deaths of her new lava strykewyrm cousins or summoned from the depths by JMods, the Wildywyrm is a hard target for level 94 Slayers.
Wyrm slaying can yield all-new weapon modifications, used in the creation of level 85 weapons with unique mechanics and special attacks. There are high-level ashes and food items to be looted, too.
    Read on for more information.

    Conquer a Wyrm
Lava strykewyrms now roam the Wilderness, south of the Lava Maze.
These beasts are assigned as Slayer targets by Kuradal or Movran, but can be fought off-assignment too – just make sure you've the 94 Slayer needed to kill them!
They're formidable foes, fighting with all three combat styles and deadly AoE attacks, so come packing the best gear you can afford to risk.
Each time a lava strykewyrm dies, there's a small chance that the legendaryWildywyrm herself will emerge. Larger and far more deadly than her kin, you'll need a team to take her down. Look out for global announcements to find out when the Wildywyrm spawns, then head over and help out.
Note that JMods have the ability to spawn the Wildywyrm, should they wish – watch out for her at JMod-led events!

    Rewards
Lava strykewyrms and the Wildywyrm can drop some highly lucrative loot.
Note that while the Wildywyrm doesn't drop anything that the lava strykewyrms don't, she has a better chance to drop rarer rewards, and everyone who participates in her demise gets their own drops.
Three new weapons modifications are the big draw here. These items can be used to upgrade commonly used weapons into mighty level 85 weapons with unique special attacks:

    • Lava whip: this searing scourge is made by combining a wyrm spike with anabyssal whip (or vine whip/whip vine). It special attack drags your target toward you – across any obstacle that doesn't block range. We're looking forward to the wicked tactics you devise for this!
    • Staff of darkness: combine a wyrm heart with a staff of light and get this malign magical weapon. It has all the benefits of a staff of light with level 85 stats, plus a special attack that absorbs and reflects 25% of incoming damage for 20 seconds.
    • Strykebow: the result of a wyrm scalp and dark bow combined, the strykebow is a real master's weapon. It has a passive ability to store up damage received and release it in an extra attack with every 5 auto-attacks or 15 abilities you fire off. Plus, there's a special attack which increases and unleashes the bow's stored damage as a quick damage-over-time effect.

These three weapons have a new degrade mechanic, too. Each lasts for 10 hours of combat, and is destroyed when it degrades fully, returning the spike, heart or scalp to you. You can repair one of these weapons by using its base item on it (which repairs it by 20% for the whip and bow, and 50% for the staff). Alternatively, create a new one when it is destroyed, using the returned modification item on another weapon.
As well as the weapon modifications, the wyrms can also drop the following:

    • Searing ashes give the best Prayer XP of any ashes in-game – only a little less than burying frost dragon bones. These are a guaranteed drop, so Wildywyrm hunting should always be a profitable endeavour.
    • Fury sharks heal up to 2475 life points in combat and up to 2800 out, and will protect an additional item on death for 1 minute (although not more than the five-item maximum).

    Enjoy!
Have fun wyrm hunting in the Wilderness. Let us know how you get on over on the forums!

  9. Ninja Update – Responsive Combat

Today's update brings a change that'll make RuneScape combat faster, more frantic and more fluid: improved combat responsiveness from the deadly and talented Ninja Team. Get into game, gear up and seek out an enemy - you'll notice the difference right away.
As determined in a Player Power poll last year, we've also made a whole load of Gielinor's deadliest beasts aggressive, as they once were.
    Read on for further details!

    Combat Responsiveness
First, we removed the short delays between cooldowns ending and abilities triggering, and between clicking an ability and that ability activating. This means combat now feels more immediate and dynamic – your actions translating crisply to those of your character in-game.
Note that we've increased cooldown times slightly to compensate for the quicker combat, so combat balance is unaffected.
As well as that, we've also improved target switching, so you can charge into battle with lethal efficiency.
Finally, if you're a Revolution fan, you'll find that your favourite combat mode kicks in and deactivates in a much smoother fashion.
There's no substitute for trying today's improvements first-hand. Log in and give it a go!
    The RuneScape Ninja Team

    Monster Aggression
Following last year's Player Power poll to bring back aggressive monsters, these beasts will now come straight at you when you enter their lairs:

    • Lesser demons
    • Greater demons

You'll be able to initiate combat with as many monsters as you can handle, but only one enemy will attack you at a time if you make no aggressive move of your own.
    Monsters will remain aggressive unless:

    • Your combat level is more than double theirs.
    • You've stayed in the area for longer than five minutes.

Stay alert on your travels - and make good use of those new, sharper combat skills!
