  1. Time for a new release of the: >>>Tip.It Times!<<<

I'd like to remind people of the rules pertaining to Times threads:

[hide=Read these rules before posting in this thread]

Rampant flame wars have taken control of virtually every week's times discussion topics. The following guidelines must be followed when posting on this topic. Posts that ignore these guidelines will be removed.

    1. You are invited and welcome to express like or dislike on articles and a particular author's writing style. It is not acceptable, however, to flame or personally insult an author. Posts that aren't anything but an attack will be removed from the topic.

    2. Spelling and grammar errors can be reported to tripsis by PMing her and they will be fixed promptly. It is not necessary to post them on the discussion topic.

    3. Off topic posts that do not discuss the content of that week's articles will be removed. This is not the place to discuss the direction of the times, how much you love or hate the times, etc. Off topic posts will be removed.

By keeping within these guidelines, Times discussion topics will mean more for the Panel and Administration than just a place for flame wars. Flame wars do not provide any useful feedback to the Times, which is mainly what we're aiming for with these topics: feedback.

This policy is effective as of now, November 17, 2010. Any posts prior to the creation of this policy may or may not be removed according to the new guidelines.

When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks!

If you spot any typos or mistakes in the article then please PM them to @tripsis :)

    Enjoy the articles!

  2. I may not be a fan of his products, but there was no denying his genius and vision. He will be missed.

This. As somebody who doesn't even own an iPod (I honestly just don't like them) I do respect what he and his company have accomplished in the industry.

Condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends.

  3. Week 39 - September 16, 2011

    Teaser%2016-Sep-2011-2.jpg[/hide]

Note: These teasers are being posted post-release of the update occurring the week of Sept 19-23. This was due to a communication breakdown between the administrators and they never ended up being posted. They are being posted now for archival purposes (anybody reviewing all past teasers later down the road, etc.).

  4. Quoting the top comment on the video atm

What you guys need to know is: Jagex is now controlled by Big Buisiness Tycoons and Investors. The Gower brothers and the veterans at Jagex no longer control the company.

As a matter of fact, a HUGE majority of Jagex, including Mod MMG himself, hate what Runescape, their once beloved game, has become. ( a big marketing ploy). The sad thing is, if members of Jagex cant even persuade their executives to stop destroying Runescape, What chance to we have?

idk how much truth there is to this, but certainly is something that I will think about...

It is true that Jagex is now controlled by a board of directors. This was in the news earlier this year http://www.jagex.com/corporate/Press/releaseInvestment.ws and elsewhere. I remember reading somewhere that control of the company was signed over to this board of directors by the Gower brothers and seeing copies of those papers. I can't for the life of me remember where I saw those.

Wikipedia does, however, have this line:

In December 2010 The Raine Group and Spectrum Equity Investors invested in Jagex, while Insight Venture Partners increased their investment.[8] Andrew Gower, Paul Gower and Constant Tedder left the board of directors at that time. Though Andrew Gower is currently listed as Jagex's principal architect,[17] it is unclear how involved he, his brother, and Tedder still are in the management of Jagex.

Also I found the following article while trying to find some more news posts about the investment:

    http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/36540/Jagex_Developers_Need_To_Understand_The_DNA_Of_Sociability.php

I was particularly intrigued by this line:

"Until a year ago, everything we'd done was organic, viral growth. We didn't have a marketing team. Our players build the company, our players built the community."

Now why would RuneScape suddenly need a marketing team after so long?

More on topic, school is coming up again for me soon anyways so I canceled my subscription. I wasn't going to but after this crap I can definitely live without it while classes are in session if only to help send a message.

  5. Hey there,

I have not updated it with the "latest" map (this one is still a couple months out of date) but I have updated it with a newer map than we had before and that fixes the problem you mentioned with those particular coords.

I will try to get the most recent one on there if time permits.

Thanks for letting me know. :)
