Well, the marquee is made using HMTL and i guess the news is pulled from a database using php

Actually it dosent, you have to undo your settings manually

What browser are you using ?

Try running a scan in safe mode using Avast antivirus

Install antivirus i would suggest Avast - http://www.avast.com Also in stall Ad-aware and Spybot search and destroy which can be found using Google. once these are installed run a virus scan with each of these seperately in safe mode which can be accessed by pressing F8 at the boot menu (the black screen when your computer is starting up) Doing these scans will remove any viruses you may have which could be causing your system lag.

Well when you first load runescape a security warning comes up asking whether to allow it to run or not, maybe someone accidently clicked 'no' which has now caused it not to run. Im not too sure.

Well, what i would reccomend is restarting your system in safe mode which can be done by pressing F8 i think from the boot menu (the black startup screen) and from here run a virus scan. This should hopefully solve your problem.
