  1. Hey Xenolith,

what would be some good items to flip? I don't need to know your "secret" items =P but a starting block would be great.

    Thanks,

  2. That's a good point, but for me, I like to play it safe. The lower trade amount can be sort of a double-edged sword, especially with this sort of flipping - the prices are going to be much more volatile, but in that same breath, you can exploit these volatile prices to make some great gains (or some great losses). The way I look at it is that this method is almost guaranteed profit - consistent profit. Though like you said, most items you're not going to be making a whole bunch of profit on an individual item basis, but you're counting on the fact that you'll be flipping a lot of item to compensate. You do bring up an interesting point though - I'm sure there's quite a niche for anybody looking for good items in the questing scene to merchant. Thanks for the input.
  3. That was more for example than for moneymaking - I don't actually flip coal (Just like every merchanter, I've got my secret list of babies that roll in the moolah.) Thanks though. Glad you guys are benefiting from this - let me know if I should change anything or explain in more detail.
  4. One big change with the implementation of the free-trade was a bit of tweaking with the Grand Exchange. Gone are the days of limited price ranges - but there is one other change: no more buy/sell limit. Before, if you bought an item, you had to wait four hours before you could sell it again. Yes, there are still on limits on how many items you can buy at one time, but you can buy and sell as you please. EXAMPLE: I can only buy 10,000 bars at any one time in a four hour window, but if I sell 500 of those bars through the Grand Exchange, I can immediately buy 500 more. Make sense? This fact is what we're going to take advantage of. Depending on what items you flip, this method can make up to five million gp/hour (or more!) And now here's the meat of the guide: Now, with every item, there's usually a gap between what people are selling for, and what people are buying for. We'll be exploiting this. First, you're going to want to pick an item that is traded a LOT. http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/top100.ws?list=0&scale=0 This list is usually a good place to start. Secondly, hop on over to the Grand Exchange, and put in an offer for ONE of your item, usually at a higher price (I usually just click the +5% button. These items are cheap enough that you're only going to be losing ~500gp at the most on the initial test) Once you've bought your item, note the price that the deal completed at. Sell the item right back, clicking the -5% button, and again, note the price (you might have to add/subtract more to your item, but that's not a big deal.) So you should have something like this: So you bought the coal at 293gp, and it sold back at 288gp. This means that the highest offer for buying coal is 288gp, and the lowest sell offer is at 293gp. Now let's undercut that! Put in a buy offer for however many you want (maybe you should start small), at one or two (maybe even five, depending on the spread) gp above the lower number. Disclaimer: Sometimes, this can take a while, but you will start rolling in the items very soon - granted somebody else isn't undercutting you! EXAMPLE: I'd put in a buy offer for 10,000 coal @ 289gp each Since the highest offer before me was 288gp each, I'll get all the coal. Once I get all my coal (you don't even need to let the offer complete - here's the beauty of this), collect the coal, and immediately put in a sell order for one or two gp below the lowest sell price (as found through the initial test) EXAMPLE: I'd sell the coal for 292gp each, because before I came, the lowest price other people were selling at was 293gp - so my coal will be bought before theirs. Now, let's do some math. 10,000*289 = 2,890,000gp 10,000*292 = 2,920,000gp PROFIT = 30,000gp 30,000gp for doing very little work! Now, usually, this whole process will only take ~5 minutes (maybe a bit more until you get the hang of it). Sometimes the spread will be in your favor, meaning you'll make more profit, and other times, the spread will only be 1gp, meaning that you should move on and find another item. Sometimes, your offers will stop completing. You'll then have to cancel your items, and do another initial test to see where the price margins are at, and then adjust your pricing likewise. Some items will make more money, some less - it all depends on the item, the day, and even the time of the day. Good luck, and let me know if I need to clarify anything. -TIPS- 1. Pick an item that is traded a lot. We're relying on a large amount of recycling of items here, so this will not work with, say, Santa Hats. 2. Check your buy/sell prices often, using one of those initial tests again. This will prevent you from not offering enough for an item (meaning you won't buy an of the item) or selling the item for too high of a price (meaning you won't end up selling any of your item) Sorry that this guide doesn't have many pretty pictures - I don't know what else to put. Examples are sort of redundant I feel, since I already have one. And I don't want to post big screenshots of me standing at the Grand Exchange...

Those rates are more than likely with a giant pouch, which, at 66 runecrafting, you won't have. If you're not concerned about profit, use the ZMI. That's always the fastest way to gain runecrafting experience (except maybe at very low levels...) If you want more profit, go with deaths. If you want sort of a mix in-between, graahk natures. I'd guess you'd be getting around 14k to 17k experience per hour using deaths/natures. Somewhere around there. ZMI would be a little higher - I really don't know the rates, since I haven't ZMI'd in a long time.
  6. So I'm looking to become a member again on one of my other accounts - I've been a member before on my main, but not on this account. I used to use SurfPin, back in the day. However, when I go to "Upgrade Your Account" I can't seem to find the PayBySMS option - there's a similar option provided by PayMo, where you input your phone number, you get a text, then respond saying "Y" or whatever, and same result. I was just wondering if they got rid of PayBySMS (the old version) all together, or what the deal is. Any help? Thanks.
  7. So I know that both give +15% magic damage, but my question is, do those bonuses stack? Would I get +30% damage if I had both equipped?
  8. JaGex has reintroduced (I guess that's not the right word... ) permanent bans for macroing. While permanent bans have been there the entire time, the progression went 14 day ban, 21 day ban, then perm. Now I believe it's simply a straight perm. This might deter some botters, but in my opinion, not too many. With good bots, it's just too hard for JaGex to catch them. And they know it. But at least the possibility of a perm will always be in the back of their heads.
  9. I just found three scripts for a chat responder on a botting forum. Took me about two minutes. They were all free - and all had decent feedback. Granted, their responses weren't too complex, but they would fool the majority of players. So... good fight?
  10. Everybody screams at JaGex to fix the botting problem - but the truth is, there is very little they can actually do. Botting programs are ridiculously human-like nowadays - it's not like the old days of level 3 players named "123rkm3" They purposefully misclick, rotate camera angles, even talk. If JaGex were to beef up their bot-detection software, thousands of legitimate players would be banned as well, just because they're sick at home, and have nothing better to do than fish for hours on end (for example). It's like the real world, where everybody wants to be protected by their government, but nobody wants to give up private information to ensure that protection - they just scream and throw tantrums when the government fails them. The only real way to bust botters is to report them - but then again, JaGex's report in-box is flooded by thousands (probably millions) of false reports by kiddies who automatically assume that somebody with public chat off is botting, and/or revenge reports. But like others have said, Runescape without botting would be... frustrating at the least - even more frustrating than it is now. Think of the last time you went to the Grand Exchange and bought any large amount of raw materials - yews, coal, raw lobsters. Now there are a LOT more botters out there than you would imagine - see above for humanlike characteristics. That's a LOT of raw materials that are thrown into GE boxes. Imagine that supply of goods suddenly dried up. Not fun. I know it's frustrating when botters steal your favorite spot to skill - it's happened to me loads of times. There's simply not a whole bunch anybody can do about it - sometimes life is like that (What?! Runescape like real life?!) I know it's annoying seeing somebody with a skill-cape, when you know that they probably botted it, while you actually worked for it. But you know that you did it legitimately and didn't cheat for it, and that's all that should matter.
  11. viewtopic.php?f=103&t=768260 Amazing guide. That's all I can say.
  12. I cook lobster so much better now, all thanks to Runescape. That, and also, if a giant fire-breathing dragon suddenly were to attack my town, I know all I would have to do is calmly sip a dose of my anti-fire potion that I keep in my cabinet, grab my shield, and teach it who's boss. No, uh, Runescape helping... Oxymoron anybody? I guess it sort of teaches you goals, and time management, er, or lack of.
  13. This was a longg time ago, back when I was just a wee little lad. Anyways, I had just bought full adamant armor, and thinking I was the biggest, baddest kid on the block, I decided to go to the Varrock wildy. Except I was too chicken to do anything. So I hid in those trees, just sitting there. And the sad part was, I was like shaking, I was so nervous. You know that weird rushy feeling? Yeah. And that's when a team of mages saw the noob in the adamant, in the trees. I'll let you guess how that ended. There might have been a few tears that day...
  14. Any slayer level over 90 is extremely impressive to me. Especially when you're melee is maxed like that - just slayer xp for the heck of slayer xp. I know a lot of people are going to say 'Get moar munniez!1!', but there's more to Runescape than money, which you seem to have figured out.
  15. I guess I was just a little disappointed in how little we actually had to do in that quest. While the information was more than enlightening, it seemed to me like it was just a story being told to us, with little player-involvement. And especially with all the built-up hype with the Diaries and all, I'd classify this quest as a letdown. What, how long did they spend on this, a month? Granted, JaGex usually doesn't give us this time frame, and they might spend just as much time on all the other quests, but this seemed, well, sad, to put it plainly. Ah well.
