  1. Hiyo! :D I agree, long time no see. I'll send a PM with contact info.

  2. Thanks Superheat! I understand what you are saying, however, when you run through the garden, you convert beer glasses into Summer Sq'irk Juice. Each beer glass weighs 0.5kg, and each juice weights 1.0kg, according the the wikia. Therefore, with a full inventory of juice, you would be carrying around 28kg+, so the most negative weight possible is definately a plus. Of course, your point was duly noted and I shall add it to the section you mentioned and credit your name. :) Indeed. ^^ Thanks so much, Dirk. :)
  3. Argue within his parameters for the sake of the discussion. Logically, he should win the argument because his argument is correct according to a worldview based on absolute morality assigned by authority, which is the worldview he is holding. And he wins the argument. So what? He is limiting it to his own absolutist definition of morality. It's an argument he has been predispositioned to win. However, his argument does not stand much ground in a scenario in which relativistic morals are applied. Since he has won his argument, present your new terms, move on to the next tangent of this discussion, and see if he will argue with you then. Until you can get him to agree to debate on relativistic (or non-absolute-morals-decided-by-authority) terms, you guys will go in more circles than the 100+ page long Creation vs. Evolution threads between creationists and athiests who just don't get how to debate. What is more interesting (but not relevant to Runescape) is discussing the effects of authority superseding other authorities in a contradictary motion, according to an absolute morality decided by authority worldview. Also, if morality is absolute according to authority, and the authority is replaced with a newer authority that eradicates the old law, by which morality should we uphold to? If we obey the old law, we are immoral according to the new law. If we obey the new law, the old law's morality was not absolute. This scenario, when thought through, provokes the idea that an absolutist morality governed by authority is only reliant if authority is either constant, or changing authority holds constant morality. - I probably should have posted this in Off Topic, and at a time other than 12:51AM. - Honestly, stop calling him a troll. Whether he is or is not does not matter. If he is trying to be troublesome and cause misdirection and communication, argue on his terms. Let him win. Then move on, and see if he actually wants to participate in a relativistic discussion. While they may be funny, the amount of red herrings, strawmen, and extrapolations on this thread is sickening. Debate in a legitimate way. Establish what is being debated Understand each other's worldviews and stick to a single definition at a time Debate Acknowledge good points, bad points and topic wins or losses in a respectful and logical manner - Eh, this post seems a little harsh, and it wasn't directed only at you, Obt. Your post just gave a good opportunity to make this reply. This post is directed at everyone in this thread. I've enjoyed reading (and contributing in my head) so far, however the circular, back-and-forth arguments of this thread are provoking me to try and get everyone on the same terms. - And don't call out his logical fallacies if you guys are commiting the same ones. Moreover, don't commit a logical fallacy (mainly, a red herring) while calling out his logical fallacies.
  4. Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, I'm not sure on the experience rates over at the Thieves' Guild, but I do prefer the consistant freerunning at the garden. It's kind of relaxing to me. :P Also, on farming experience - according to wikia, picking the fruit in the Summer Garden yields 60 farming exp/fruit and 50 farming exp/herb. The difference is whether you want experience in herblore or thieving - and I'm pretty sure there are better ways to train herblore. Although this may be comparable to Chaos Druids.. I do believe the herb percentage rates are the same. It may also be more relaxing, or, one may be a skiller and unable to engage Chaos Druids in combat. Hey vader, thanks for the tip! I added it as an alternative to the 'Method 1' section and credited you in the 'Credits' section. :D Thanks for stopping by and enjoying it! :) --- It seems that spambots are targetting this thread again.. I'm not sure what rugs have to do with the topic, however... xD
  5. Hey Flodder - not sure if you were aware of this, but your WTC build made it to Reddit's gaming frontpage. Congrats! <--- This link for the exact topic. http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming <-- That link for the overview of topics.
  6. To those who missed it, or want to watch it - The 1 hour and 26 minute long video with Notch was recorded and is available to watch here. Cheers xD Edit: Oh yeah. The commercials can be blocked via Adblock Plus on Firefox or Chrome.
  7. Ah, no problem. :) Yeah, I'm not that big a fan of it either. I tried out Play4Free and Heroes and I like Heroes a lot better, even though it's 3rd person. It's a pretty good game since it doesn't take itself too seriously, and it's more developed (for now) than Play4Free. But yeah, if my computer could run BC2, I'd be playing that. xD
  8. Notch has been doing a Q&A and relaxing on the Coe's Quest livestream. Come join and add to the 2500+ viewers at http://www.livestream.com/coesquest . We normally only have 75 viewers xD
  9. I believe I saw you while I was playing some Battlefield Play4Free, PoorLepRecon. Just confirming that this is you. :P [hide=Semi-large image] [/hide] And on BFBC2 + BFBC2:V, I bought both of them but my computer can't run them. Oh well. I bought BC2 for $6.79 during the steam sale, and got V for $5.00 with a free $10 discount from the EA store.
  10. I don't suppose you've seen the Ironforge replica on the discovr.us server? You should check it out sometime. :^_^: Is there a video? Link: HD Video 1080p Optional: Youtube HD Video - This video will cause high CPU usage, to view the video in a lower quality, please click . Not sure how accurate it is to the actual WoW model, since I have never played it - but it still impressed me greatly.
  11. I don't suppose you've seen the Ironforge replica on the discovr.us server? You should check it out sometime. :^_^:
  12. What type of crash was this? Did your computer suddenly shut down, or was it just Minecraft? (Also - did you make any backups?) I'm pretty sure you can retrive the world's seed, but I believe you can only restore your constructions if you have a backup. But yeah, it sucks that we have to play with these types of bugs, even though the game is in beta. Once the game moves out of beta we'll probably have a less buggy experience. Hopefully. :P --- As for setting up the server, a good place to start would be at the following link. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server However, you'll probably want to be running Bukkit on your server, once it comes out, as it fixes a bunch of the bugs that exist on the vanilla server build at the moment. Bukkit is the successor to the hey0 plugin, apparently hey0 isn't going to be updated anymore and had some deeply rooted programming mishaps that were starting to make things difficult.
  13. These two tutorials/videos helped me understand water a bit more. Hope they help! http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=99048 Note that the link is a different explaination from the video. And nice job, there, Napalm. Looks pretty good. :^_^:
  14. I don't always install mods, but when I do... I install lighting mods. So far I'm running vanilla minecraft + BetterLight + TorchLight, and I alternate between default texture packs and Quandary textures. I'm liking this game more and more.
  15. You know what's really bad? When you build a desert home, and they start running across the one-wide entrance to your base that you made. They can't fall down, yet their bodies frantically push against each others as they try to drop in beside your unexpecting, tasty body. UGH. You're not the only one who hates spiders. Coincidentally, I have a spider spawner right next to my mineshaft. Every freakin' time I go down there they start shrieking at me. UUUUUGHHH. (I do, on the otherhand, have ~900 string because of that.)
  16. Found more diamond today in a SMP roleplay server than I have in all of my single player worlds combined, in less than a two hour span. Argh. No game mods effected the diamond ore rate, either. Argh.
  17. Watching Minecraft video's are like playing it. It's addicting, fun and simple. Just downloaded it illegally and it really isn't as much fun as watching coestar or someone. Do any of you perchance watch Coe's livestream? Coe is hardly ever on, but Absconditus, Narc0tiq, Mhykol, and McGamer stream on that channel VERY often, and people like Funnyman3595, EzTarget_UK, and Dewtroid do great jobs as co-commentators. Recently the Coe's Quest Livestream team has been opening up worlds for the public to play with them on livestream, although I'm not sure in what method or how long that will be continuing. Oh, and by the way, since it can be confusing - you can tell whether or not the stream is currently live or playing a prerecorded stream if there is a red box that says 'live' in the lower left corner of the screen, over by the volume and number of viewers. My username over there is Ampere_Sand, the same as my Minecraft username. You might see me chat over there, although I may not be around that often until Tuesday due to finals. Also, speaking of Coestar, he's having a Coes Quest 100th Episode Extravaganzagasm! It would be pretty awesome to see some TIFers there. You can find details at http://coesquest.com/2010/12/11/coes-quest-100th-episode-extravaganzagasm/. [/advertising Coe]
  18. Until Notch adds acceleration tracks... (The best idea I've heard for when Notch removes boosters) There are three versions in the video, skip to 3:20 for a quick and simple demonstration of one being built and tested. As for my minecraft adventures, I've been harvesting a cave that is under my house. It isn't too big, so I am extremely pleased, unlike the cave in my other save that went on for ages.. Might post some pics when I'm done. :D @Skull, I also would set up a server but I'd probably have just the same amount of luck as you. :P If anyone is more technical about these things than myself (It wouldn't take much knowledge, trust me), it would be interesting to hear about multi-user hosted servers, if they exist. Setting up one of those might be more convenient as I doubt we can leave our personal computers on all the time.
  19. As of client 1.2.4_01, leaves do not dissapear. :c
  20. At the whole cheating discussion fiasco above; Currently in single player, cheating is not really condoned because it does not effect anyone. However, Notch is working on adding 'hiscores' to Minecraft, at least for the hardest difficulty. If Notch is smart he'll allow a cheat toggle on/off, along with built in cheats and make a script that removes those instances from the hiscores. But it is no secret that Notch is working against hacking, however I am not sure whether he is talking about client hacking or user account hacking. :3
  21. Yeah, I watched X's adventures, thankfully the series is on hiatus otherwise my free time would be nil. About the idea - everyone would blame it on Herobrine. :P But it would be pretty awesome to symmetrize/colonize some obscure part of the world and leave no mention that you did it on a SMP server, thus increasing the sanity and blood pressure of the server's regulars. And @the HD minecraft concept - as long as they don't do the organic 3d models that Zilla was showing for mobs, I'd love it xD
  22. So last night I was watching Coe's live stream and a hundred other viewers, myself, and Coe ended up hopping onto the Discovr.Us server that was holding 23 people at the time, so.. there were around 130 people on the server in a pretty small area. Then we built some sort of.. castle-esque thing. Then we played a few games of spleef. And even though I was at around 9fps the entire time, and 3fps when those crazy admins flooded the spleef arena with lava, I had a great time. The server did pretty well too. Only crashed once, and that was around 45 minutes in if I remember correctly.
  23. Haven't been playing Minecraft too much lately due to college, but I read a few suggestions on the official forums and I thought that the Aether & Kyther realms (Heaven/Sky & Ocean, respectively) would be not only amazing expansions, but also complementary to the Nether realm and in namesakes. I can't find any logic behind the name given to the Ocean Realm, though. But if Notch adds any realm, I'd want him to add the Aether, as it is a more direct opposite of the nether (Above vs Below), and just add ocean biomes instead of the Kyther. Speaking of ocean biomes, natural rivers would be nice too...
  24. Peregrine_95 --> (Peregrine)? --> Ampere_Sand --> Peregrine Chose Peregrine_95 because my favorite animal at my young age was the peregrine falcon, and 95 was my favorite number for some reason. Most people assumed I was born in 95, which was false. Not sure why it was my favorite number; nowadays I can't enjoy most numbers unless they are prime, which must be some odd habit I've developed over the years. Later, I didn't even want a number in my name. When Carl Dublin provided an early leak about namechanges, I noticed that 'Peregrine' wasn't available, even though it wasn't ranked. So I decided I would wait to change my name until a 'second batch of names' were freed up. Added Peregrine to my friend's list, and as soon as the asterisk came up indicating the account didn't exist, I changed my name to it. (Either during the time I was waiting, which I doubt, or afterwards,) I decided to change my name to something more... interesting, I guess? Anyway, lots of people were fed up with people changing their names and losing track of friendships and such. So I decided I should have my nick "Pere" in my name somewhere. Words like "Perennial" didn't do it for me, so I looked through a dictionary with words containing 'Pere', and I found Ampere very close to Ampersand. For some reason, those words clicked in my heart and I ended up creating 'Ampere Sand'. Ampere refers to the SI unit of electrical current, and Sand is.. sand. I thought a username that meant 'electrical sand' was pretty neat. That sums up my RSN's history. ;o
  25. I used to have those sound problems too. I found that pressing SHIFT-F3 ingame resets (something, the sound engine perhaps?) and you should be good. It wasn't a permanent fix; I kept having the problem - although I haven't had it since the Hallowe'en update. However, it is pretty easy to use the SHIFT-F3, and you don't even have to reload your world. Press SHIFT-F3 a few times just to make sure it works, I guess. If it doesn't, then I'd suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the Minecraft .jar files. You might have something corrupted up there, or who knows what. Make sure you backup/copy your save files to a separate location first, though.
