Poll: Which color theme do you use on the Tip.It Website?
deathdude777 replied to Cowman_133's topic in General Discussion
I didn't know you could switch themes, when I read the poll I switched to dragon, so I voted for dragon. -
Ahh, that explains allot, thanks.

Interesting First article, but there was an incorrect statement. "where a single player experimenting with third party software ended up forever upending the street values of the rarest items in the game." According to the writer, it was due to a glitch with the trade screen. The hacker experimented with "first party" software, not third party.

Is sacred clay worth using? pretty simple question, I know its the equivalent of green d hide.

Tip.It Times: 15 Feb 2009 "Mark Gerhard & Scams Addressed"
deathdude777 replied to n_odie's topic in General Discussion
To RE: the future of runescape, I believe the author was not neutral enough, it seemed like a praise article and not a full review. Also, I would be interested to hear input on the possible loss of loyalty to runescape due to Andrew, the head our characters grew up with, is no longer in command(possibly fired, I don't know). I also don't like how the author said "insulted the vocabulary of middle schoolers". I know a lot of middle schoolers who don't use the newly uncensored words, as well as high schoolers and adults. Now, I drop f bombs all the time, but I Think its prejudice to say that(the aforementioned phrase), because it implies that they use language which is offensive(yes, I know my f bombs are offensive to people) The scam article from necromangus-Very nice, I was very annoyed by catherby's recent article complaining that jagex didn't do enough to remove the "kid gloves"(another stereotype, he assumes that children are the only people who get scammed, while it is the adults who have things on oil cans that say"do not drink") and I feel necro responded to it at the end, but I would of liked more. The third fiction article about vampires-I throughly enjoyed this one, I am fascinated with vampires, especially humanesque, good vampires. I usually don't read the fiction ones, but this time I did. -
I voted no, I've been in about a dozen clans over my rs "career" and all of them didn't go so well, although it might of been because I joined unorganized clans. More successful clans have rules which I don't like, such as "must bump thread every time you get on" or "no multi-clanning" or "must attend all events when able" or "must join clan chat whenever on". I don't want someone halfway accross the country telling me that, instead of playing rome total war, I have to go to a meeting in someones house(which seems pointless, I don't know why we can't just talk in the cc, or a specially made meeting cc). Also, most large clans have many leaders-co-leaders ect. They often abuse their power to win an argument, or to benefit themselves. Whenever somone in a clan has an argument with someone in game, they make their clan members fight their battle. Even if the clan leader is good hearted, they can't possibly watch all of their leaders. Overall, In general, clans require you to not only change your real life schedule to fit their needs, they make you change your runescape play time. I like friends, but If I have to go through this to get them, I'd rather be lonely. I usually just make friends doing whatever i'm doing. Ive gotten pretty good at striking up conversations over my 3 years of runescape. I guess other people don't mind strict clan rules like that, but I just don't like it. Even if I found a clan with a friendly atmosphere they I WANTED to join, I would keep myself from doing it. Clans just don't work out in runescape, in my opinion.

Stealing Creation Rewards
deathdude777 replied to deathdude777's topic in Completed Website Corrections
ahh, I thought it had already been updated. Well, thanks for reading. -
First, the prices are off. I do not know the exact cost of them, but its around 30 points. Second, the equipment doesn't degrade by changing, it degrades by gaining bonus experience. You can change the armor as much as you want, and it won't degrade. You are however right on the transformation, it cannot transform when degraded. Also, according to the knowledge base, Just thought you might want to add that too. Thanks, hope I helped=)

=D Something to read=D. This one was nice and long. PvP does need changing for sure, just like bounty hunter did(although it's still broken). the second one was interesting. On a side note, the "did you know?" is wrong. Your magic menu is only disabled if you are a monkey, if you change back to human form, your magic menu returns.

Weekly Poll: Tip.It Times? (Special Discussion)
deathdude777 replied to n_odie's topic in General Discussion
I like the ones that tackle community issues, like the one about how younger players have a bad rap in runescape(most recent I can think of). I read all on them, but I especially like the ones that make runescape a better place. I do wish that they could be longer though, even if it's just added verbs. I mainly read them for entertainment. -
The article was mediocre(which I consider a good thing, it means its up to par) but it has certainly gotten people to log in and post their thoughts. I am considering liquidating, bgs is 23m right now and still dropping. Dfs has hit 16m and will probably be in the 7 digit mark in a month or so. Dragon chain is 7m now, fury has dropped and all of the barrows(suprisingly, including ahrims). I will probably liquidate alot of my items soon, except for essentials like whip. Soon, I will be able to afford a dragonfireshield if it keeps plummiting(I don't know why, its a great shield). fury is dropping steadily(still not as bad as dfs). I have always liked runecrafting, and Hopefully natures will become better profit than double cosmics. (I <3 my graak, but 9k per trip is hard to ignore). During economic change, runescape becomes stressfull. I will probably liquidate most of my items and go on runecrafting or fishing.

Tip.It Times Presents: Guest Article and Letters #18
deathdude777 replied to Headnazgul's topic in General Discussion
I highly disagree with this statement. True, mistakes and injuries that result from those mistakes are inevitible in life. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to lower the chance of mistakes and not try to minimize the injuries sustained from the mistakes. Over my whole runescape career, I have probably lost 2m+(more like 2.5, or 3m, but I am sure it was at least 2m). I read the manual(the knowledge base didn't exist), the anti scam guides on fansites and was extremly cautious when trading or risking wealth in any way(paranoid is really the word for it) and yet I still got suprised sometimes. When new scams came out I had never heard of, or when a lot of pressure was put into a trade, or when they "missclicked" at the second trade window and rushed through the second trade(so that you don't check the second window). Thats just the tip of the iceberg-how many people fell victim to willow-magic trade swaps? What about the "have some poisonous karambwan" scam or "trade me your candle for a sec" scams? True, jagex may be encouraging younger players to play the game who don't need to be playing(thats an entirely different argument), but thats a horrible excuse to try to prevent inocent people from suffering. Knowledge should be free, it shouldn't cost me 2,000,000 gold pieces just to avoid getting scammed, with a new tax coming out all the time from someone with nothing else to do but think of a new ways to hurt people. Also, It seems everyone thinks that its just the young kids that get hacked I want to prove you wrong. Watch your local news for a week-you will almost always see a scam warning, whether it be a scam e-mail asking you for your pin number to ensure you are the owner of your bank account, a letter asking you to pay a tax or have your house re-possesed or an illigitimate buissness trying to take your hard earned dollars. For those of you who have seen the life lock commercials on tv, heres the quote from it"every thirty seconds an idenity is stolen"-lifelock television commercial. Thats much more to lose than a runescape account, so surely those people arn't being reckless. See? your never too old(actually, elderly players like grandparents who play with their grandchilren would be more prone to scams, because they tend to trust people more often) to be scammed. Its true, there are some people who are gullible and naive, who trust everyone or who arn't used to mmos and figure it has cheat-codes just like any other game.-does that mean they deserve to be scammed? I am pretty large in real life(don't let the picture below fool you) and I am physically capable of taking money from people who maybe arn't so strong or don't know how to properly defend themselves. Does that mean that they should give me what I want because they are lesser human beings than I am? Thats the principle that started both world wars, the requonsista(sp?) and many of the medieval and roman period wars. Is it really a good principle to go by? -
It was a good read, I always look forward to the times. I can relate to the author in someways, however it seems that they had a resentment towards the new updates and didn't really take the time to think about the pros of the updates and focused on the cons. It seemed like the author was talking to themself, rather than to the reader; the article left a feeling of being excluded. It was however, interesting as the writer reflected on the history of runescape and brought new meaning to the term "boss monster". I think the article was fair.

I think they should have lanterns that would take up the shield slot(similar to bug lanterns). They could have gems put in them(like the tears of guthix lantern) with different lantern frames made of different metals(finaly a unique use for smithing :D ) and would have to be enchanted similar to crossbow bolts. When enchanted they would have an effect similar to enchanted bolts, with each gem having a specific effect. The lit lanterns would be untradeable and would require various levels to light, with onxy dragonstone requiring 99 firemaking to light. Anyways, I think everyone aggrees there should be a use for firemaking, a real practical use. -
Big mistake in barrows guide
deathdude777 replied to deathdude777's topic in Completed Website Corrections
Ok, thats fine I understand. You still might want to fix the part that says that the cannon cannot be used in the tunnels.
