The long wait is over..!
Reading Red Country by Joe Abercrombie. So excited!! I messed up and thought it was being published on October 26, but of course that was the UK release date... have been anxiously counting down the days until it was released in the USA - today! I'm only 51 pages into it, but it's only getting better and better with each page. Reminds me why I love Joe Abercrombie's work.
On an unrelated note, I'm also in a bit of a predicament. A week or two ago, I posted that I was reading Ben Bova's Mars Life. I saw it on the shelf at a used book store, it looked interesting so I bought it and started reading it. I'm about 20% of the way through (100 pages in) and today at Barnes and Noble... I noticed that Bova actually has a book called Mars that is the PREQUEL to this book. I'm not sure if I should finish reading the second book... or stop, buy and read the first book, and then continue reading the second.
I've never accidentally started reading the second book in a series before and it's quite troublesome. :|

Hope anyone who is interested takes the time to apply. It is a lot of work and commitment but you make friends that transcend your time on staff. You learn skills that you can use outside of Tip.It. Overall, it’s a great experience! Put your app in if you feel you can handle the commitment. :)
^^^^^^
My time on Tip.It Crew has been my most memorable RuneScape experience yet! I got to meet and work with a lot of amazing people, and it was fun every step of the way (even when Dungeoneering was released and Pokemama and I wanted to claw our eyes out at all the work that had to be done.)
It's better to apply and not get the position, than it is to WANT it and not bother applying.
Good luck to everyone! :)

Mars Life by Ben Bova. Liking it a lot so far. :-) Been a while since I've read some good sci-fi.

Author hasn't caught the reader's attention by page 30? Abandon ship!!

I'm also finishing up "Ready Player One" for the second time. I saw it in a bookstore the other day and grabbed it because it's a decent story. It's amusing and softly cyberpunk. It's not as amazing as everyone says it is because it's really just a nostalgia circljerk with a little story thrown in. But I've read worse.
You know, I bought this book and was really really looking forward to reading it, but now... :/

I have tattoos all over my bottom, will I get in trouble with the moderators for uploading a picture of my bum?
Crop it so you can't tell it's a bum? :D

No more randoms... <3:
That should have been the main announcement, and the holiday event could have gone in "In Other News..."

Well, it would be worth noting that no flowers help protect your herbs from disease; they only affect allotment patches (onions, tomatoes and potatoes for Marigold specifically.)
-
Edit: I'll try to post some of my data when I get home
Total of 1,365 patches.

Worked all day, as per usual. Did a few audits and now I'm home preparing for Extra Life on Saturday.
Don't you work at a restaraunt? Did I miss something?
Today I got finished with an exhausting 47+ hour work week. Tomorrow is my only day off (at the beginning of my next 45+ hour week, yay!) and I'm not yet sure if I want to sleep all day, or be semi-productive.
I work with a bunch of idiots and am tired of picking up everyone's slack, but hey, my paychecks are going to be nice I guess! I also found out that I might start to be paid salary, rather than hourly. :D yay!

Derp; ignore what I said about the absolute max.
(Although I think you'd be hardpressed to actually get 51 herbs.)
Edit: I'll try to post some of my data when I get home, as far as averages go anyway.
-
The max I've got from a single patch has been 23 herbs. That was with Supercompost, Magic secateurs, Juju farming potion and Supreme greenfingers aura.
I believe 23 is the absolute max.
(And it's just bad luck. There's always a 10% chance that your crop may die. If you haven't already, you should invest in the Scroll of life reward from Dungeoneering. It grants you a permanent 10% chance of getting a seed back when harvesting a patch, whether it's dead or alive.)

Just got my hands on (and finished in one day...) Five Patients. I...... am now officially out of Michael Crichton books to both purchase and read. My life is over.
[hide][/hide]
A very interesting (although just slightly dated) non-fiction book dealing with the United States hospital system. Crichton recounts 5 patients that were treated at Massachusetts General Hospital when he was a medical student there, details some specifics of their cases, and then goes in-depth about what is important (historically, medically) about their case and how things could change in the future. It's interesting to see how the hospital system has changed (or not changed) since he wrote the book.
Would probably be a bit boring for someone not interested in medicine, as there is a lot (a lot) of medical jargon thrown around.

Lol'd when I saw it on your Facebook. Came here to see if you had posted it in OT. Lol'd some more.

It isn't for me, but other people can knock themselves out!
I'm approaching 25 and I'm obsessed with Harry Potter and play RuneScape... don't think I can judge people for liking MLP.

Grats, Xena! I know you'll do a great job!
All these little Crewbie newbies, all grown up. <3:
And I do have to say, great job during your time as leader, WMX.

I think there has always been a more "serious" side to RuneScape, but in my opinion, people seemed to start caring more and more about efficiency after Dungeoneering was released. I think it really caused people to reevaluate and change their gameplay styles.
Whether that's a good or bad thing, I won't get into. RuneScape has always been more of a solo thing for me, and I've never really focused or worried about how other people play the game.
Solo as in you skill alone or solo as in you don't talk to people?
To each their own but I can't imagine enjoying RS myself without meeting other, social, players.
Solo as in I never really do group activities, other than Evil Trees or Shooting Stars. On a day-to-day basis, when I'm running around skilling, I hardly ever talk to people I see, unless they're an acquaintance or they say "Hello" to me. I've also never really been concerned about other people's levels, wealth, etc. I'm happy for friends when they reach certain goals, but I've been very good about not letting it impact how I view my character - your skills/wealth are yours, and have nothing to do with mine. Perhaps "solo" wasn't the best term.
I run HYT, Tip.It's "Official Unofficial" Friend Chat, so I'm very social in that regard. I'm also very active in the Clan I'm in, as far as talking in the chat goes. :-P

What book are you currently reading?

Red Country turned out to be as amazing as I'd hoped it would be! Kind of sad that I read it so quickly... now the long wait for whenever his next book comes out. :/
Started reading Mars by Ben Bova... realized that I was actually reading the THIRD book (Mars Life) in his Mars "series," so I abandoned it to read this one!
