For your knowledge, the fact that he is the lead designer doesn't mean he knows anything about runescape, as evidenced by his post. He is just covering his a**, hoping that this will all die down soon.

Lawl gl with that happening. This update is almost on par with the wildy removal in terms of rants.

And we all know how many players they lost back then... and that was actually for the good of the game. This is jagex scoring an own-goal in extra time(just thought a football analogy would work here).

I can't even imagine the thoughts that crossed their mind as they created this update. Any way you look at it it's a terrible idea.

Better solution = Make boots 60k then their alch values extremely low and non sellable to the smith. Problem solved. (except people would have a lot of junk :L)

  2. You know what really bugs me about the climbing boots update? The failure excuses afterwards. Mod MMG (or some mod) tried to justify it by talking about street prices. Heck, even if the street prices WERE 75k, people are spending 75k on climbing boots. Instead, now 75k GP is getting put into the economy. PER BOOTS. Not an exchange, a huge influx of currency. And they don't see this? COUGH tip it times topic COUGH

Heck, anybody want to send an econ book to jagex, with a ruler in the 'inflation' section...

It was Mod Mark. His clan chat title is "Wooters" and he has expressed his like for the update and how there will be no rollback. Tbh his job is like community managing or something and well mod MMG does all that basically.

Considering Rune boots have a high alch price of 8k, D boots are 12k. Where would they get the 45k alch price for climbing boots from? That makes 0 sense. Also this update was leaked to certain people beforehand(I know a mod who it was leaked to). So I think Mod Mark was trying to "help" a few of his friends out because anyone who wasn't a true idiot could have seen this coming. Thats why there were a couple people who stockpiled boots.

There were plenty of fixes to this... You could have changed all current climbing boots to the quest version or just made their alch value and sellback value horribly low. Sure they still would have been used in junk trades then, but thats not a horrible alternative to what it is now. The fact they are triyng to tell us people commonly bought them for 75k is bull.

If you think the Lead Designer of Runescape made an update to help out of a few of his ingame friends then you are truly a 12 year old. Content standards change over the years, and old content must be retrofitted to meet the new standards. This is just one of the changes that impacts the game visibly.

Mod Mark KNOWS that it will impact the economy with short-term inflation. He says this in his post. He also knows that a few hundred people got rich. This has NO long-term effect for the economy. Just 12 year olds getting jealous of lucky people.

No long term effect? We are talking thousands of bils of coins injected into the economy.

    trolololol!

  3. When rangers start risking 8m worth of stuff and a item that takes 30k dungeoneering points, then they can get more power.

Until then. No, magic needs to have their 15 minutes of fame.

Too bad there is nothing range has that can make it that good. Except void... but without a divine thats a terrible idea :L

  4. Lawl ko potential, Magic hits 48's with more accuracy and with more speed than range can hit with a crossbow and their best bolts.

I dont know where your getting 48's from...

Just what crazy gear is this? Or is this going to be a minigame like castle wars?

So you are saying that low end mage gear is worse than low end range gear (which is more often not used than used) while high end mage gear beats high end range gear.

And more often not used? Are you kidding me?

PVP is expensive, most people go welfare, a ranger can spend less than 150k on things like 15 d bolts, d'hide, and rune xbow and still do into the 50's by just random lucky specs, while the actual DPS on the weapon still stays quite high.

The most you can mage welfare is nothing on range welfare. spend 150k on mage gear and you will get a joke coming out the other side.

Sure, in terms of high end gear, when mages risk arcane streams that take upwards of 6-8 hours to get, full ahrims, zuriels, plus KO weapons like claws, etc, they may rip crappy welfare rangers apart, but hey, advanced hybriding > pure range anyday.

Runes can be saved by a SOL and Brobes. Just like range has an accumulator. But bolts break/are left around too.

And SOL? Battlerobes!?! Seriously?! Are you trying to troll me?

That things incredibly expensive, and even then only saves 1/8th of the runes. Battlerobes cost 1.6 million GP on GE, oh thats not too bad... Until you realize that no one sells them, and that they need constant recharging, By comparison an accumulator may as well be free, and saves loads of ammo, and even if it didnt, you can just pick up the damn ammo anyway.

Bolts break rarely, sure, but runes dissapear, period, and without super expensive weaponry/robes, ALL THE TIME.

Lawl with sol + robes you save 65% of runes then tome of frost (if you have that many leftover tokens?)

I guess magic is just for the elite?

  5. In the 'Glory Days' I went on a bot hunt at the willows south of Port Sarim and wrote down all the bots names in a word doccument to copy and paste to Jagex. I found between 150 and 200 bots just in that one location. So assuming 200 bots on the world and 1500 players per world, that gives 13% of online accounts which were bots (very rough number, but I can believe it).

So assuming that the max number of people online this year is 200k (Mil's chart), we can assume that if there was the same ratio of bots, then we would be at 225k players which is very close to the normal high points in 2007. So pretty much, we have nearly the same number of legit players online now as 2007.

That means jamflex isn't doing a good job of recruiting 10 year olds. <_<

  6. be warned about aviansies though. there are some NASTY pkers there (keep in mind its multi combat). once i was there in noob gear with tb scouting while my level 99 str/85 atk friend waited in another world. i find a level 121 and we start talking, it seemed like he had no intention of attacking me. so i tell my friend to come, he logs in exactly below me as planned. immediatly i tb and my friend attempts to barrage then rushes in. the barrage failed so we figured the guy would just run? he switched to full ahrims and some type of spirit shield, turns on soul split and just starts owning us. the armadyl guys started attacking him.. they didn't even stop him. it was all out carnage. i'd recommend a partner before you go to aviansies mainly because everyone you encounter within will have 70+ range (realistically 80+) and will be able to take your health down quite a lot.

Sounds like yeh im tank found you.

  7. requaring ice barrage to take up 25% spec to freeze is rediculous, thats 4 freezes every 5 minutes

there is a godbow, its called a hand cannon Your joking right?

    1. takes 75 range

    2. slow, gs speed i believe

    3. accurate as rune cbow no.

    4. powerfull, hits 60s no.

    5. powerfull spec no.

    6. good for ko/pvp but not for training no.

    7. fairly expensive as far as range weapons go

    Fail.

  8. people with a lot of time on their hands

on the RSOF if you go to the Forum games section, there's a "Bored? Draw #ere" thread, where you can see what people come up with. Basically it's just using keyboard and alt symbols to make an image.

As for warring in f2p, it might be because dieing in 5 second when you get called in P2p isn't fun. P2p is won by money, f2p is won by organizing

F2p is the same thing but whatever.

This thread can be closed now.

  9.

Runes can be saved by a SOL and Brobes. Just like range has an accumulator. But bolts break/are left around too.

They are more expensive (ie: more risk) than the accumulator when you are talking about pking.

They dont tend to save more runes than an elemental staff either unless you treat the magic damage modifier as a value increase

(eg: +10% bonus of .an air surge is = a water surge, the extra runes used by water surge is therefore saved).

I know I was just saying magic saves cash too.

In terms of xp per gp barrage with sol and brobes should be more efficiant than chinning though.

  10. warring in p2p is very very very expensive.

What peregrin said is a large factor, but what's wrong with warring in f2p anyways? In my opinion it's more fun, since it's harder to KO people.

warring in p2p is a k0 fest. with audio organization, or a good ingame caller you should one-hit basically everyone. success is more random, if you're doing safe anyway, and gear is all about who has the most hundreds of millions, and the most people with 99 summoning.

f2p is more balanced as it is simpler.

That is what I got from these posts, sorry if I misunderstood but that is the jist of what these posts say.
