  1. the argument that AGS is buyable and so is herblore is definitely somewhat flawed.

an AGS is both a liquid item, and it is risked in the process of PVP

It's not a matter of spending 100 mil to be stronger, rather risking 100 mil to be stronger.

Herblore on the other hand is a sump cost. Once it has been spent, you would be able to PVP like never before at negligible risk and cost AFTER you pay the entrance fee.

Anyways I think extreme potions should have SOME benefit in pvp. Not +6 Attack/Strength/Defense/Ranged and +40% magic as Jagex had set it up.

Maybe +1/+2 would have been reasonable.

I think of it this way, herblore just so happened to get a combat boost. This does not mean future skills will not get combat boosts during their high level updates either.

what if Smithing also gave +6 to all stats

    and Crafting

    and firemaking

    and thieving

    and agility

+6*5 = +30 boost over other players? Eventually this would get pretty ridiculous.

I definitely agree that herblore deserves a bonus

    But not +6

but removing it altogether was kinda BS

  2. So, as long as you time your Sara Brew such that you always drink it a few seconds before the end of a minute, you can pretty much negate the stats reducing effect and remain in godmode for most of the time?

    I just tested that.

Overload potion > Sara brew EXCEPT for magic level. That will still get drained to oblivion if you don't bring some restore potions.

Makes me kinda want to get my hands on a timer to figure out when the next stat restore is coming.

Do you think this was intentional? or do you think this is a bug?

I wouldn't put it past Jagex to overlook something like that.

  3. Good news, I now know how to save the worksheet as a file on my computer. I will then upload this file on my ISP's webspace or maybe even a backup at Megaupload or Rapidshare.

Too bad my time for Runescape is very limited... I've begun entering the Crafting Calc with different methods.

I've actually finished a bunch of efficiency spreadsheets, and I wouldn't mind working with someone else on making more

Add me in game, we can talk

    RSN: Grimy Bunyip

here's my crafting spreadsheet so far if you want to take a look:

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tUM9Nvyv9AGJMqNYV_fjCFg&output=html

  4. Slayer's your best bet. Most people enjoy it.

I would recommend that you farm herbs too. Great money, but not everybody enjoys it.

honestly at your level i would just do quests quests and more quests.

most skills don't have terribly fun ways to train them unfortunately

Great Orb Project trains runecrafting, but you need to reach lvl 50 runecrafting to play that minigame.

Thieving has Sorceress Garden and Pyramid Plunder

That's it really, unless you enjoy doing stuff like chopping wood for the sake of chopping wood.

  5. been playing runescape for 5 years now, and I've been writing guides for as long as I can remember.

I'm not sure if such clans exist but I'm looking for a clan where people put alot of effort into training as efficiently as possible.

A Guide Writing Clan would be Ideal.

My hopes aren't too high but I'm looking for a clan with smart players that understand things like opportunity costs, and aren't afraid of being blunt or egotistical.

My stats are in my signature

Here's a sample of some of the spreadsheet's I've been working on recently

It's a direct copy and paste from the last forum I kept it on so there will probably be some syntax errors

How to Interpret the Training Spreadsheets

The column you want to look at the columns labeled 500k, 750k, 1000k, and 1500k

    Those numbers are your INCOME

Why are there so many N/A's!?!

Sometimes Google Doc's data miner Bugs. It is because alot of people are using google doc at the same time

You'll just have to wait ~ 15 minutes before the bug corrects itself.

    Gilded Altaring

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=trkwrFjw33zFF31jk12ed1A&output=html

    Firemaking

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tJKwKyI7cbIAgmzBiWq8ymw&output=html

I did not factor in flame gloves or rings of fire because they scale the costs proportionally

IE it doesn't matter when deciding which method of training is better than which.

It only Matters if you want to calculate EXACTLY how much the training method will cost you

The difference will only be 5% so it's too trivial to put into the spreadsheet

    Magic

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tzCzQr3V4MNdtluRTKpoOLg&output=html

You may notice there are 2 Columns in this spreadsheet

the second column is for "Bonus Xp"

You can often get experience in other skills while you train magic, like smithing or summoning.

I added a multiplier to account for how much each skill is worth, but it's a very vague estimate.

IE i say Cooking is only 0.5 as valuable as magic

Smithing and Crafting are equally valuable to magic

and Summoning xp is twice as valuable as magic

Unfortunately there isn't an ideal way to account for the bonus xp that you receive, but this spreadsheet should still help you get an idea

did not do SC tools as they are pretty inefficient, i'll add them when there are not so many other spreadsheets to work on

    Smithing

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rJ3GpvuIi-XM0XDK7LOag5g&output=html

I did not list all the smithing methods as it would have taken forever, and probably would have been pointless anyways

the methods listed were chosen to because they were either good or are commonly used methods

    Farming

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tvyX6CDj7qNBx5xIA5ShA-w&output=html

This will be the only spreadsheet to not display "True Cost" due to the complexities of farming

im too busy at college to finish this spreadsheet, but it is functional in its current form

Special Thanks to Greenblood for his time and effort in making like Half of these spreadsheets :P

And a special thanks to the clan, for helping us collect the data we needed

    Herblore Spreadsheet

    Chinchompa Spreadsheet

    Brawling Gloves Spreadsheet

  6. just get lvl 71

the odds of getting a +6 on spicy stew are miniscule

just get lvl 71 and eat an admiral pie (+5 fishing i believe)

im almost positive bonuses from foods/potions work on all diary achievements

  7. I make alot of spreadsheet guides for my clan

particularly those that specify which training methods are efficient at what income

I'd like to make it so the user can input his income.

however i do not know if it is possible to make so my published spreadsheets have a single cell where the user can edit

i know how to make the entire spreadsheet user editable, but then some troll ends up just deleting the whole thing.

if anybody knows I would appreciate it very much <3:

This is the centre of the fist of guthix cave, could this be where the stone once was? the markings on the ground look like the stones outer shell.

it's safe to speculate that saradomin got his hands on the stone at some point

the walls of FoG have saradominist markings on it

perhaps the FoG was where guthix once hit the stone and where saradomin found it

this is nowhere near the lunar isles so it's definitely not where V------ found it.

  9. FOr instance, when dropping cooked food, you can *eat one* drop one, Rinse repeat, to clear inventory faster,

But for instance, when dropping bowstrings and powercrafing in the gnone village can you drop faster than clicking 28*2 times to drop all your inventory?

    THanks,

    Im new. :P

idk about powercrafting... (tbh i would just bank those bowstrings or train on something else :P)

but some skills like fishing/woodcutting have a timer. Right after you catch a fish or chop a log, you must wait 3 seconds before you can catch another. During that 3 second interval you can drop fish/logs without interrupting your fishing/woodcutting

i suppose you could also summon terrorbirds, deposit 12 items, then dismiss it?

  10. A cutscene near the end of the While Guthix Sleeps quest shows a human discovering the stone embedded in a stalagmite in a cave, with the name "Vanjute". (The name of the human differs for each player, for unknown reasons. Some variations include, Verisad, Vistola, and Vonjuta. The notable pattern is the name starting with "V" and being seven letters long.)

ive been looking around and i finally found the wikia article on V------'s name, and it indeed varies between accounts. Any idea why they might be different between characters?

different quest lines for different names?

maybe our character actually is V------?

it seems odd that jagex would randomize V's name

  11. Is it this guy?

    (RS Wiki)

Vasador was a Fremennik explorer of the late Fourth and early Fifth Ages. Vasador was apparently a seer of the Fremennik tribe who spent many years of his life travelling far afield, well beyond the Fremennik Province. It was Vasador that re-discovered runes and the Stone of Jas, and as a result, allowed humanity to rise to dominance in many regions during the Fifth Age.

Vasador's name and history were kept extremely secret, and only a select few; such as elders of the Moon Clan and the mage Movario ever knew or suspected his identity. Only during a cutscene in the While Guthix Sleeps quest that his identity is revealed.

    yeap, thanks

  12. Radimus Erkle, Ivy Sophista, Thaerisk Cemphier, Reldo, Hunting Expert, Armadyl Guardian, Idria, Sir Tiffy Cashien, Betty, Turael, Hazelmere, Duradel, Mazchna, Ghommal, Sloane, Harrallack, Cyrisus, Silif, Lucien, Movario, Darve

These are all the NPC's from While Guthix Sleeps. Is he amongst them?

no, he is the guy who touches the stone of jas in your vision

you can only see his full name if you right click him during the vision

  13. I guess he was asking for how long do they last.

    My findings:

    - Hammer(smithing): about 64k exp when using adamant bars

    - Hammer(construction): about 50k exp when using oak planks

    - Pickaxe: i think it was about 15k exp per pickaxe, but someone said they have changed it to 21k. Not sure if it's true

    That's all i know :D

there is some deviance in xp rates depending on your level as well (very little i believe)

the pickaxe was 7k xp after the big SC update btw, at least it was for me at lvl 70. It may have been increased?

and no I don't believe there is anywhere you can find this information, at least not as far as i know. If we could get a list up that would be awesome =D>

  14. I believe the "Tumeken's Dream" explains much of the unexplored terrain in the desert

The following quote seems to speak about the conflict between sophanem and menaphos

based on this, there should be an area with alot of monkeys somewhere near sophanem and menaphos, presumably south of it

    [hide=]

On the second day of his dream, Tumeken chose to travel to the west of the desert, where it was known that two encampments of men did dwell, of opposing forces. He travelled over tall dunes and rocky outcrops for some time, passing pyramids erected to honour figures of worship, until eventually he reached the border between the two camps.

There, he saw groups of men, women and children from both camps, facing each other upon their border. They were heatedly arguing, but not a single argument - small groups splintered from the main: gossiping, debating, scrapping and insulting over every issue of contention two peoples can have. Tumeken saddened upon seeing his followers so embittered.

Then, beyond the throng he caught sight of a troupe of apes, preening each other, playing and learning together, sharing food and chittering excitedly. And he did call out to them, and the two tribes held their tongues in awe as one of the apes scampered between them towards Tumeken, whereupon she clambered playfully up onto the god's shoulders. Then, looking back to the troupe, the tribes understood why he had chosen to bless the monkey and not them, and vowed to mend their ways.

Tumeken stroked the monkey's chin and said: "You are, indeed, the most sociable of creatures, bringing joy and happiness to all around. I shall give unto you a piece of myself, so that you may help me rule this desert realm, an example to my people to take pleasure in the joys of society, so that they too can be blessed by Tumeken." And so, the lesser god Apmeken was born, and Tumeken, happy with his day's work, returned to his camp at the centre of the desert to prepare for tomorrow's journey.

    [/hide]

this quote is about the far southern desert. According to this excerpt, the far sou thern desert was more or less empty. However there may be a large number of insects in this region, perhaps various insectoid followers of scabaras

    [hide=]

on the fourth day of his dream, Tumeken chose to travel to the south of the desert. Not much was to be found in that region, but it was the last place unexplored by him, and so he set out. The heat was particularly fierce that day, but regardless, Tumeken pressed on through endless dunes.

Hours passed without event. Not a single soul crossed the god's path; not one lone settlement. Yet the sun still bore down on the god, sweltering and desiccating him. Tumeken reached for his skin, for Elid's life-blood, but found it empty - he had drained it on his previous travels, forgetting to refill it each day. Knowing his predicament, he knew he had to seek shelter from the heat and wait out the day, lest he himself succumb to the desert.

As he was nearing his limits, his grateful eyes fell upon a lone tunnel entrance, which delved deep below the desert, providing him a cool place in which to recuperate. Many more hours passed within this cave, providing the god with ample time in which to reflect forlornly. During this time, he saw a small beetle burrow his way into the chamber, but noticing Tumeken, the creature burrowed away. An hour later, the beetle emerged out of another tunnel, but seeing the god still there, disappeared once again.

Yet another hour passed and the beetle returned, but Tumeken was ready this time, snatching up the cautious little thing and said: "You are, indeed, the most unusual being, digging your tunnels in isolation, avoiding contact even with me, your god. I shall give unto you a piece of myself, so that you may help me rule this desert realm, an example to my people of what can become of them, should they stray too far into solitude." And so, the lesser god Scabaras was forcibly born, the last of the lesser gods.

And Tumeken longed again to see his wife and children, and was impassioned by Scabaras to end his dream. For, despite their flaws, they were no more flawed than he. Night had now fallen, so, after emerging from the cave, Tumeken returned to his camp at the centre of the desert, not to rest for another day's journey, but to awaken from his dream.

  15. I just know they are going to update mining to be more in line with fishing and woodcutting. I refuse to touch that skill untill they update it. I feel bad for the current 99 miners because thats the cape i have the most respect for. You have to hate yourself to max mining in its current state.

I hope they do something with agility, add a few good shortcuts, anything, something please.

They need more options to take stuff out of the game. Maby if you have high smithing you can upgrade armour but it has a chance to break the better it gets.

I would love to see a real slayer monster, you know a really killer one. Level 95 required, hits like a truck, need a team. Drops something cool, maby a one hand sword with a sick graphic same stats as a whip.

Instanced group dungons would be wicked. Not sure if the current code for the game can handel it, i dont work at jagax. But some instanced content, need a team with a big boss at the end, have to clear to it, type of dungon.

And for the love of god an ingame mail system would rock. Will never happen though, the chat filter in this game already makes me want to bite the head off a kitten.

I love the idea of a dungeon, but runescape REALLY isnt team oriented >_<

  16. don't forget that you can loan these items

my SGS has allowed me to convert millions of gp in junk items back into cash

Don't forget, zamorak brews and mixes are a Very good alternative to prayer potions

around half the price per prayer point, granted you need to drink more often. So timing when you drink actually becomes pretty important

Useful for tasks like spiritual mages, aberrant spectres, black demons, metal dragons. Basically anywhere you need to pray but won't be taking damage from anything besides the brews/mixes

  17. Ya definately need a new one for the reasons already mentioned in topic. Its kinda sad that nearly 60% of the journey to 99 Slayer you wont unlock anything new

what about farming? herblore? mining? agility? tons of skills cut out at lvl 85. Slayers still get something at lvl 90

also, remember the best reward of slayer debatably the slayer helmet, and that lasts through the entire journey

slayer always continues to reward you with good combat xp

sure, a slayer update would be good, and even players that arent high slayers would probably enjoy the new toys the higher lvls would sell off. But I just think we have more pressing skills at the moment.

If you're a slayer and you're getting bored, go try some new skills or quests.

  18. I like what Jagex did with the run button/meter

flipping between tabs to toggle run on and off is a bit of a hassle

I'd like to see the same thing done for special attacks,

there is still some space under the compass after all

also I would like to see a special attack (sidearm) item slot

    example:

say i had a whip equipped in my weapon slot

and a dragon dagger equipped in my sidearm slot

i use the whip when i attack something, however if i click the special attack button, i do a dragon dagger special attack, with the dragon dagger instead of a whip special attack

that would save me a lot of hassle of having to switch out weapons when attacking things
