I've heard of having pride but that's just ridiculous. For street racers, spoilers control the air flow of the vehicle, giving you better steering at high speeds (like 90-100 mph). On local speeds, it doesn't really make a difference. I can't picture a middle aged mother having her grocery getter installed one. They are usually for punk drivers or young naive people thinking spoilers is the "way" for 2 door cars and convertibles. I find it funny when people put spoilers on cars which are front-wheel driven.
