  1. I started playing RS at 15 in 2004, five years on I'm now 20, I can tell you now I was as green as grass when I started RS but I kept my respect towards all folk who gave me their respect. That aside the good old days are something that cannot be objectively put into a place in time, the good old days are your own times on the game, the times you enjoyed and cherished, as well as the ones with drama and discord, taking the good with the bad each day and just enjoying what time you had with your friends. My good old days were with my first proper clan, sure things have changed, the GE has made buying/selling easier, there's more warnings for the younger folk and mayhap for the older folk who forget after a long term of absence? RS has vastly improved from when it was first released and ported from RSC to RS2. Skills being hard and easy shouldn't be dictated by the amount of clicks the system tells you you need to make but the resources you need to get your skills up. To sum up, I would like to say, do not paint all of us veterans with the same brush, not all of us have the same view as the OP, some of us can change and take stride
  2. Quick note, I couldn't decide whether to post this here or in the Debate section so I went with my first choice, if this is not the correct place then could one of the Mods move it to the correct place. If it's been moved the Mod who moved it shall recieve a cookie in thanks ^^ -------------------- Clan events, the bread and butter of many clans, be it Skills, PvP or a mixture or none of these. Having had previous event co-ordinator experience, I'd like to see if the events held by the various clans are innovative or simplistic in creation. By simplistic I mean, is the event a gathering at a minigame, Castle Wars, FOG, Clan Wars or group questing? Something that has already been created in the game for the benefit of group activities. Or is the event innovative? By innovative I mean, has the event been constructed from the ground up, using the elements at hand and not the structures? Example, setting fire to towns, conga lines, fancy dress and inter-clan events that need weeks to months of planning to name but a few. In my experience, the innovative events showed the greater commitment towards the clan, the creation and the moulding of the event so that it could be as fun if not more so than the simplistic events that are based on gatherings of people at minigames, therefore the ones who could show their innovation were of more worth than the ones who relied upon structures already created in the game. Though that's just my opinion, I'd like to know what yours are, what events you use, minigames or your own imagination as well as what you believe is the most effective and most enjoyable means of having memorable events. Simplistic, innovative, or a mixture of both?
  3. Time being forcefully limited for all players would be a bad move, gaming addiction or no, it is the player's own responsibility as well as their carers/parents if they're below adult age. However a sensible move would be to put in a little message that comes up, as an example every 3 hours "You've been playing 3 hours make sure to take regular breaks" something along those lines. Mayhaps with a toggle as well for those of us who don't like needless spam in our chatbox. And yes, gaming addiction does exist, I've been through it on RS, now I'm over it, woo cold turkey xD
  4. A few things that could be implemented might be being able to be in more than one cc at any one time. Example, being in your own clan's cc as well as another clan you're friends with, and switch chat box priority like you do in the IRC channels. An official clan rankings would be somewhat helpful as well as what the clans on the rankings preferred Pking/Skilling/Combined, which would increase awareness of clans and so bring in new blood, though restrictions say top 1000 clans? Rankings based upon monthly tournaments perhaps, much like the Jagex Cup.
  5. My method would be somewhere in the middle, having been an events co-ordinator/leader in a previous clan, that was my method, somewhere in the middle. If an event had been planned and next to no one turned up, I'd tell them what they missed out on. One example of the few of those was a Castle Wars event when I was the only one there, I didn't cancel the event but carried on. At the end of that I told the clan that if they don't want to attend events either sod off or make your own. If I were a clan leader then my method would be along the above. Make them aware and try to entice them, if that does not work then I'd get the trimmer out ^^
  6. Getting any skill to the max of 99 is no slight feat, it is a challenge no matter the method, be it bought or skilled. Perhaps Cooking/Fletching are the easiest to buy and so are considered an easy skill to max. But what if you didn't buy them? Personally I did not buy my 99 Cooking, it was a mere cover to get a friend their D Chain for their birthday, getting the skill to max was a perk. Fletching was a means to an end with Woodcutting also being maxed. Fishing was a slice of hell as I had agreed to race a friend, the most harrowing experience on Runescape and I don't recommend it to anyone lol. Overall easiest to buy? Cooking/Fletching Overall easiest to get? None Overall easiest to skill? Your pick
