Whaaaat, I'm confused here. Combine conquered Earth in 8 hours cause they destroyed America and everyone else just surrendered. Headcrabs are NOT stronger than the combine human soldiers, the headcrab missiles are actually kinda silly, but if used enmasse would probably be quite devastating, and that is what happened at Ravenholm. The only reason the resistance is able to fight again the combine, is cause the combine army that probably conquered Earth has left already and all that is left are a few synths and a combine-human force. Combine-human forces are probably stronger than the rebellion, but we don't know how the rebellion is actually going around the world, only in city 17, and I guess once city 17 fell, the main hub of the combine force on Earth, it was a huge hit that might have tilted the scale.

Erm guys, you're taking this a little too far. The general gist of the argument I am feeling is that Archi thinks there is a plot hole in the story, granted there are. And Mather is saying that the combine are much weaker than they actually are.

I think the point Archi is trying to make is because they're super advanced beings that took over Earth cause of a whim, why do they care so much about Earth, they drain all the resources by the time you're playing, they've doomed the human race and have made a seemingly endless amount of soldiers. If I were them I'd glass the planet.

Erm, it is a teensy bit selfish to ask Ross or Archi to do it, both of whom would probably not be able to. My view on this game is, it's pretty much dead, and only left here as a reminder of how good a game can get.

I thought they bombarded Ravenholm for a few reasons, 1 it was a high resistance area, and 2 to test out their experiments on the headcrabs.

Erm... Race - x was never considered canon, it was just a thing for Adrian to fight, and they died once he killed the thing at the end of opposing force. Xen actually never invaded Earth properlly, and if they did, they stopped right after Gordon killed the Nihilanth, but what did happen was a thing called the portal storms, this led to a lot of Xen wildlife being transported to Earth in the most random of places. Yes Xen wildlife took over most of the Earths ecosystem, but it only led to a bit of panic for Humans. The portal storms are what lead the Combine to Earth, as they used Xen as a sort of boomerang to fling themselves into Earth or something like that. They led an invasion, won really quickly, as you can see, and then plotted to assimilate Earth into their technology to fight for them in other wars. Yes the Combine did know of Earth before the resonance cascade, and that is why they contacted Breen who then said he would help Combine get to Earth, which he did with the resonance cascade. So basically, blame Breen. No that bank was not the barracks of the combine forces on Earth, that's silly, they were the citadels placed all over the Earth. City 17's was the main one though.

I admit that the idea of a scientist able to fire a gun like a marksman is silly, but then again the game does not strive for realisim exactly. Also that bank thing you infiltrate is a very important building if I remember correctly, it was controlling the supression field, that made all of humanity sterile. I think they tried to blow it up cause you were there and they thought it be better to kill you than to just save a device that they could easily get another one of.

Well today is the 31st, and thus it's halloween :D Not many people believe this is a real holiday, but to some it's a nice time to go out and party, and to some it's a nice time to go trick or treatin'. Now to make this thread interesting does anyone have any funny halloween stories? I haven't really got one except that once when I was like 7 I was out trick or treating and I got in the face by people throwing eggs XD. I even found it funny then :P.
