God I loved reading this!!! I miss the old rs1 days. It was the real RS to me. Back when being a miner and a smither actually added up to something and mattered, now it seems to be nothing more than bragging rights. I started in 2000, played off and on for 9 years, and have recently gotten back into it. My favorite part of rs1 was by far, the sleeping bag!!! it might have been a pain in the [wagon] at times, but now that i think about it, it's the most missed part of runescape for me. I also enjoyed making pures and giving the wildy a chance. 3 rounds 2 lumb :)

So I'm in the guild with a lvl 83 miner who has a d pick and me a rune pick, we faced off several times, and i beat him 7 times out of 10 on average. Im lvl 86 mining... i dont think it's worth 15 mil... think of all the coal you can buy with that....

the mort myre swamp area east of varrock is a pain in the butt and it sucks always having to run from varrock to that area... my suggestion to you once you gain access to the area, is definitely do ghost ahoy quest. Not only do you get a teleportation device for the area (ectophial), but you also get access to an awesome bank/furnace for all your smelting needs :D

Alright, I've been gone for over a year and have noticed that a lot has changed... I've done a little research, and have seen that a good method to raising your smithing at these levels seems to be addy arrowtips till 88 and then addy platebodies to 99 all using the sacred clay hammers. So now that the basics have been discovered, i need tips on acquiring the goods... Sure, I can mine addy, but with the addition of the relevants (i think thats what they are) in the wildy, I got discouraged very easily... So, do I buy the addy ores, go to mining guild and mine coal with superheat? Or buy the bars directly? I just burned about 10 mil on gold ores, and am thinking about waiting till they go over 400 again before i sell, but in the meantime, i have another 7 mil i can burn plus tons of items i can sell if I'd like... So basically, I'm just wondering, since I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, do you think I could get by with just buying the addy ores? Next, SC hammers... How many do I need? I've never used them before, so I'd really like to know about how many bars i can get out of them doing arrow tips, then platebodies. Any tips are welcomed, and I thank you for posting. :)
