  1. OMG! Read first please! ......... Ok, sorry about that but come on, you can't comment if you're gonna talk about stuff that wasn't even in the previous post. You : "And saying that the only reason to buy membership nowadays is not the tons of content they add (quests, minigames, etc) but these rewards are seems to be...well, very false." I never said this in any of my posts! Me: "thats the point of buying membership monthly nowadays" Me: "I didn't say I buy membership for Loyalty Points, I said thats a good reason to buy membership monthly (which I don't even do all the time anyway)." I never ever said the ONLY reason to buy membership is for Loyalty Points, it is actually a very very small benefit from being a member. What I did say was that it was a good reason to buy membership month by month. I admit, a love of the game is a much better reason to buy monthly, but points towards cool items is a nice reason to subscribe immediately month after month. You: "they are not going to be very significant content. They simply weren't designed to be." False! Please read my previous comment. Please. Me: "I can discount SC's impact on the game, because this game for me is MY game, what effects me is more important then what doesn't and SC does not impact me at all as apposed to Hunter which affects lots of people. I could care less if it helps some level up faster (SC effect) as apposed to fluctuating prices on farming items (Hunter impact). I like Farming and I am impacted there so that is important, as apposed to SC which just impacts highscores. SC might be more impacting on the game as a whole, but not on my game which is what I care about (not to say I don't care about good updates for others and the welfare of the community)." Loyalty Rewards (Reverence Aura in this case) helped me a lot. SC will never help me. So yes, it is significant content, even if it is just significant to me. Because if you read the above post (which I hope you will this time) I never ever said Loyalty rewards are more significant to everybody then SC, I'm just saying they are more significant to ME. As much as this Year of the Clans supports team gameplay, the game has its roots in individual gaming.
  2. First Article: WOOOOT! Farming is the best!!! (My Fav. Skill) Second Article: Jiblix seams to be a fairly normal and reasonable human being, which is nice as I thought he might be an anti-Jagex crazy. Inception is boss, although Batman Begins is better then The Dark Night. Chris Nolan FTW!!! Third Article: I really need to stop reading this guys work late at night when it is storming. Not as scary as the first, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess I'll get less sleep then usual tonight. Great articles this week! Excellent authors and awesome interview!
  3. Jeez, what more could you want? It's not a matter of greed, like you're painting it to be. It's just not the norm. Compare it to the content released in November 2008, the month when WGS was released. We got the following: Stealing Creation WGS Holiday event This month we're getting New herb and prayer restore potion Ritual of the Majarrat BXP weekend loyalty rewards More on a list, but in terms of replay value, not as substantive. BXPW isn't really content, and the loyalty rewards list have no significant impact on gameplay. And for the vast majority of players, this new herb and pot will be useless. So it's not really a bad thing, but it's just not what we're used to seeing. No harm in saying that--I agree with him in fact. But I'm still completely excited for ROTM :) [/hide] Before we dive into my point, let's clear some stuff up. Loyalty Rewards will have lots of impact on gameplay, thats the point of buying membership monthly nowadays.... Also, I find Stealing Creation completely useless and if the prayer pot, herb, and loyalty rewards tag team, they are a great match for the mini-game you refer to, (which I dislike by the way). To business Don't paint over my painting please, had nothing to do with greed and I wasn't saying it was. I just think people need to start lowering their expectations. I doubt there will be many more November 2008's (which wasn't even a very good example because in both their is an epic quest, some content people might not use/not be interested in or use/be interested in [stealing Creation vs. loyalty items and pray pot], and finally some not really content content [i love Santa and the Easter Bunny a lot, but doing easy tasks for them for items with only looks isn't content]). Jagex is giving us a pretty darn good month, to expect more is naiveté. Stealing Creation, I warrant, has had a lot more impact on gameplay than the Loyalty rewards at this stage will. Consider collecting a bonus XP tool every 12 minutes (Fast SC), compared to the Jack of All Trades aura, a Tier 2 aura which gives out genie lamp XP boosts. Judging by the powering of the JOAT aura, I can tell straight off that the other Tier 2 auras coming out this month aren't going to be something to rave about either. Anything else cosmetic under the Loyalty Programme is simply not gamechanging. Furthermore, you may not like Stealing Creation, but that does not allow you to discount the impact it has had on this game. I may hate Hunter, but I can't wish away the impact it's had on my gameplay (Juju pots, torstol seed prices etc). So, if you're buying membership just for Loyalty Points, I'd have to call that very shallow gaming. By the way, to clear up this point, November 2008 did not introduce Stealing Creation - I released an update to the Stealing Creation reward mechanic, which changed the pricing of Sacred Clay items and made it possible to buy more than 1 morphic tool per game played. Compared to that update to Stealing Creation, everything else expected this month (short of ROTM) really pales in comparison already. We don't really know a ton about the Loyalty updates, so we can't really assume their impact, but based on the previous stuff and how much Reverence helped my slaying, I'd say the new items will benefit me more then SC ever will. I can discount SC's impact on the game, because this game for me is MY game, what effects me is more important then what doesn't and SC does not impact me at all as apposed to Hunter which affects lots of people. I could care less if it helps some level up faster (SC effect) as apposed to fluctuating prices on farming items (Hunter impact). I like Farming and I am impacted there so that is important, as apposed to SC which just impacts highscores. SC might be more impacting on the game as a whole, but not on my game which is what I care about (not to say I don't care about good updates for others and the welfare of the community). Please don't call my gaming shallow with an invalid point that seems to just be meant as a thorn. I didn't say I buy membership for Loyalty Points, I said thats a good reason to buy membership monthly (which I don't even do all the time anyway).

  5. Thanks guys, for sure doing crafting and smithing first (I didn't realize they were such bothers!). Summoning at the end and something like agility or mine in between. Thanks again!
  6. Hey guys, so in preparation for the bonus weekend I need to decide what skills to train/ in what order to train them. Most of these skills are requirements for the quest cape so that's that, here we go. I need: 2 Slayer Lvs. 65-67 3 Range Lvs. 72-75 3 Smithing Lvs. 71-74 4 Thieving Lvs. 70-74 5 Crafting Lvs. 71-76 5 Summoning Lvs. 60-65 5 Hunter Lvs. 62-67 7 Prayer Lvs. 63-70 7 Mining Lvs. 69-76 12 Agility Lvs. 65-77 Thanks!
  7. Lol, this made me laugh. "Switch focus from money making updates." Really not their focus, one money making update a month is perfectly acceptable for any company and Jagex releases lots of new and fun game content all the time. Bots are not just a "flip a switch and make em go away" problem. Complicated and adaptable nuisances are bots. There are really not that many things Jagex could do that would not be drastic, and drastic moves upset people. I dislike bots, but don't act like this is a simple problem Jagex is just ignoring.
  8. Main Tip page is still not working... for me at least.
  9. Boycotting: you're doing it extremely wrong Boycotting is an extreme measure that should be reserved for meaningful things, done in meaningful ways. A bunch of members who have already paid this month's fees failing to take part in an event that has absolutely no impact on the business whatsoever if you choose not to participate in will do nothing to get your point across. The only person losing out, in that case, is you. A movement like this isn't inspiring or motivating. It's just...depressingly pointless. Masterfully said.
  10. Mod edit: removed quote of a bad post. I appreciate the insult to my intelligence.... very constructive thought there. But honestly, I still think they should have did what they did, although perhaps a bit more secretly as yes, there was a lot of publicity. I guarantee the video would have gotten as popular as it is now if Jagex hadn't done anything, yes it would have taken weeks instead of days, but it would have happened. I'm guessing Jagex knew this and figured it would be more of a victory for them if they got rid of the guy.
  11. That is one classic monster. Thanks for the link, enjoyed looking at how things used to be.
  12. You guys are saying that's the fastest way to make a company hated and they should of dealt with it internally but I'm sorry, that's a load of garbage. If something is threatening you, especially in business, and you have the power to get rid of it, you get rid of it. Unless you want to make your company look like the victim, which is a while another issues, you eliminate threats. Jagex had every right to get rid of this guy and their move is a correct one and something I probably would also do. Get rid of the guy, and make sure everyone knows less people stand up to you. Dictation 101 right there people.
  13. You know, I'm not really surprised that Jagex silenced him. I mean, if I had someone working for me and they showed everyone my flaws, I would get rid of them like that, as I'm sure many of you would do also.
  14. Restating the advice mentioned above, just keep rolling the way you want to roll. If people annoy you about this, just tell them it is your decision to train wherever you want and if they don't agree with you, ask them to at least respect your freedom of choice.
  15. Dude, (may I call you dude?) I don't care whether the articles makes me happy or not, heck it could make me down right mad, and least that would be more of an active emotion opposed to the passive yuck of the depressed feeling I get when I read Jagex = fail issues. Perhaps Jagex still makes you frequently, as I'm sure they do to many others, but I'm tired of being angry at Jagex. When I hear abut their "mistakes" it just makes me sigh sadly. I'd much rather be angry at something I disagree with then angry at Jagex. Make me happy, scare me, impress me, inspire me, but don't tell me more about Jagex. Let's face it, Jagex bashing has become an official sport. I guess I personally have just decided to retire. Authors tend to write about what is on their mind, and it is rather hard to keep finding topics that are hardly discussed and eternally happy. It's not as easy as flipping a switch turning inspiration on, so if you have some suggestions I'm sure any author would be more than happy and work on it. :) As far as this week's articles are concerned, I agree with the below. Personally, I was slightly disappointed to read the new articles this week as well. However, isn't it telling when there is little else to talk about? That these problems with the game are so at the forefront of our minds that finding something to talk about that doesn't bring up those things is difficult?
  16. WOW, really disappointing articles this week. Yes, thank you, we know Jagex is messed up and bots are rampant and the game is dying and etc. etc. I used to like reading the Tip.it Times because it talked about exciting happy things, or at least debated some interesting issues. Now every week I get to try and decide which of the articles was most depressing. The only positive thing about this Times was the trip down memory lawn in the first article. The rest of it just made me unhappy.
  17. Well bots being annoying is already a good reason to post in the rant section? People pay like 7$ a monthto enjoy the game in every single aspect. I do find pk'ers annoying too, but I don't rant about it since it's perfectly allowed to play the game that way. I don't mind L138bully me by taking over my slayer spot, since they're higher than me and have worked hard to get L138. But bots are just cheap tools that should not be around. It's against the game rules and no matter whether you feel they are bothering or annoying: the game would be better off without them. I wouldn't mind if coal prices or D bones went up suddenly coz all bots were removed. Then I could finally enjoy my dung level by hunting frosts myself. Or I could just enter the LRC without 1.8k bots making me lag like hell... One: Didn't say there was anything wrong with posting rants about bots, perfectly acceptable and makes sense that they cause rants. Two: I did say I realized bots were a problem that is destroying RS and I realize that the game would be better off without them, but when people say "I quit RS cuz of bots, they ruin everything" I'm bothered because they don't and the game is playable with bots. Bots = bad is a given, but if you quit RS, saying bots made it to hard for me to do stuff is kinda a dumb reason. I mean suck it up and work around it, you're a battle hardened hero in a mythical land for goodness sake!
  18. I realize that botting is a legitimate problem and I see bots everywhere, but I don't know if it is just me or what but I don't seem to have a problem avoiding the bots and they rarely cause me a lot of trouble. I find that the bots are often easy to outsmart and small adjustments can be made that make it like there are no bots there. Now I also realize that I don't have super high levels and I don't use places like frost dragons etc., but is it at all possible that maybe the Runescape community can just suck it up a little?. I mean I know botting is a problem and it effects certain aspects of the game, like the economy, a lot at times and it very well might be the destruction of RS, but I don't really find bots bothering. A better word for them would be annoying, but certainly not bothering when it comes to skilling and interrupting my gameplay. Maybe this is just me.
  19. Dear Powerfrog: In all of the posts/responses I have ever read on this forum, yours are the most ridiculous and illogical of them all. I am so baffled at your ability to talk nonsense that I am having a hard time typing. Public chat off does not equal a bot and no one should ever be reported for not talking. I recommend you reread this topic so you can see your silliness and I hope that in the future you can talk sensibly. Thank You
