  1. What is the best monster to kill to make gold? Still frost dragons?
  2. If you have enough detailed data, can you post it and I'll add it to the top post. It'd be interesting (though hated by many) if that data can then be used as a skill calculator on Tip.It's main page. However, instead of giving number of lamps to reach a level it can list average number of spins. Given that a person playing everyday can have 60+ spins (D&D, quests and drops being additional), it's bound to be nice to know that 60 spins average 20 XP lamps (12 small, 8 medium) though about 10 lamps will be for any skill. Depending on your skill level, that can be very significant. About SoF funds being used for R&D, well, I'll wait for next year's corporate earnings report. This still feels like a simple cash grab with money just going for profits and not to improve the game. My data is just a raw log of drops in Excel, not sure how useful that would be. The statistics I get from it I get on the spot using Excel formulas when I need to, but they're not comprehensive in any sense. Also, half of it is data from the "old" SoF, before they buffed the prizes. The only thing that is important about spins is lamp frequency anyway (since the cash/resource prizes are negligible and the super-rare prizes basically don't contribute when their value is spread out); anything around 15% for medium lamp frequency is pretty valid, and the same for small lamps around 20-22% (your percentage in any given data set will depend both on how many lamps you get, and how many double spin tickets you get which is why it's so variable, but the "true" value is in those regions). This should be enough for most people to get a rough idea of how much xp they will be getting. Most of my predictions for xp gain before purchasing are accurate within 10%, which is good enough for me.
  3. The game is fun when you can go where you want and do what you want; this requires money. Good luck having fun sitting in lumbridge with a bronze hatchet.
  4. I've got about ~2k spins recorded myself, and only ever got one huge lamp as a super-rare. My belief is that items like spirit shields and godswords must have drop rates something on the order of 1/10,000. My personal percentage for med lamps is 13.22% so these numbers from the OP sound about right. As a side note, to the people complaining about spending money "power leveling" and ruining the game - LOL, get a job. I live in a society with a free market system, I'll spend my money how I want thanks. I've been playing since 2001, you're hardly going to find more of a purist towards this game - if you think complete strangers spending money on SoF for their personal enjoyment negatively affects you or the game in any way you are delusional. The only tangible result from spending money on SoF is Jagex getting more money to develop content for everyone. QQ.
  5. Do you have to have completed/started the related quest for a boss to appear?
  6. People still making a big deal about SoF? It takes like $1,000 to level a skill from 90-99, let alone from lvl 1 to any sort of level. Yeah, people spending that kind of money to level a pure that might be marginally better than existing pures is definitely a realistic situation.
  7. Just curious as to where that was stated? I know that Jagex wants to expand onto other platforms but I always thought they liked the Java platform. They like that it's easily accessible to everyone. I apologize for not being able to find a direct link at the moment, but I believe I read it a while ago; they're looking into making an independent client for RS like WoW or Guild Wars (and most other MMOs). Expanding onto other platforms like consoles would also necessitate a more portable coding language, and Java in a general industry sense is quite outdated.
  8. I'd just like to say that although I don't approve of this update, the real harm is probably minimal. To level a skill from 80-99 using squeal costs ~$2,000 USD. The super-rare items are also untradeable, and well, super-rare (probably something like 1/1000 if not rarer). Unless someone has thousands of dollars lying around to spend on Runescape (which I somehow doubt), there will be no noticeable "unfair" inflation in either hiscore ranks or wealth from anyone. At most, people will buy some spins just to try it out, and once they find out the reward/$ ratio isn't what they hoped to be, it will just be business as usual. Besides, knowing Jagex they will probably put the money to good use. The CEO mentioned that they wanted to get off the outdated Java platform, onto something more efficient, powerful and portable, and the money could very well be going towards that.
  9. Their justification really is laughable. It's like saying casinos aren't gambling institutions if each machine/table awarded you a small sticker on each try.
  10. For anyone that's interested: Bought 225 spins; spun 263 times in total after opening all the double spin tickets. Double spin tickets = (263-225)/2 =19; 7.22% Small lamps (skill) = 29; 11.02% Small lamps (choice) = 29; 11.02% Medium lamps (skill) = 16; 6.08% Medium lamps (choice) = 16; 6.08% 50g = 76; 28.90% Not a terribly large sample of course, but from the preliminary numbers it seems that the number of skill and choice xp lamps you get have the same probability. In a given set of 75 spins then, you'll get about 87-88 total spins, with 19-20 small lamps and 10-11 medium lamps, with about half of them allowing you to choose the skill.
  11. For what it's worth, here's what I got from 75 spins ($20) - to account for their value, double spin tickets were consumed immediately. 50g Small Lamp 50g Small Lamp Green D'Hide Body 5 Tuna Small Lamp (Magic) 50g 50g Rune Battleaxe 50g Medium Lamp Double Spin Ticket Medium Lamp (Constitution) 5 Tuna Small Lamp (Defense) 50g Small Lamp 50g Double Spin Ticket Double Spin Ticket Medium Lamp (Hunter) Uncut Sapphire 50g 40x Steel Arrow 50g 50g 5x Silver ore Small Lamp (Defense) 50g 50g 50g 3x Gold ore 1x Uncut Sapphire 50g 3x Logs Double Spin Ticket Yew Shortbow Anchovy Pizza Small Xp Lamp 40x Steel Arrow 50g Medium Xp Lamp 2x Logs 50g 3x Iron Ore 50g Small xp lamp (craftging) Small xp lamp Green d'hide body Rune Scimitar 3x Logs Green d'hide body Small xp lamp (defense) Small xp lamp 3x Law rune 50g Rune Pickaxe 3x Coal 50g 40x Steel Arrow Small Lamp (firemaking) Double spin ticket Small xp lamp 50g Small xp (defense) Small xp lamp 50g 50g Rune Pickaxe 3x Coal 50g 50g 50g Double Spin Ticket Small xp Lamp (attack) Small xp Lamp (ranged) Small xp Lamp 50g 50g Small xp Lamp Medium xp Lamp (defense) 1x Cut Emerald 3x Iron Ore Small xp Lamp (cooking) 50g 50g ~25-30 mins to spin ~90 times Money made: ~150-200k (just a handful or rune items) 50k summoning xp Misc xp in other skills Considering that items like divine are still very, very rare, and the super-rare item you get isn't necessarily one that you want anyway, I wouldn't say Squeal is a great way of making RS Money or xp even assuming you have infinite real life money. You're basically paying $40/hr to get the same gp/hr or xp/hr you would be able to get by playing as you normally would.
  12. Just wondering to what extent we can use this program. I've seen lots of people recommend it on these forums, can we use all of its functions (like auto key pressing) or only some of them? Which ones?
  13. I would chin, but I'm thinking of ranging waterfiends after I hit 99 strength.
  14. With cost generally not a concern, what is the best way to train ranged the old fashioned way? Magic longbow (sighted) + rune arrows? Rune crossbow + enchanted diamond/dragonstone/onyx bolts? Something else?
  15. Is it the last batch of auras, at least in terms of the skill-based ones (i.e. 10% bonus auras)?
  16. If I have a magic secateurs in my inventory, and a regular secateurs in my toolbelt, do my magic secateurs get priority? It's hard to tell now that they've changed the animation. Also does this go for all other related tools? Or do you have to be wielding the item in order for it to take priority?
  17. If I get 2 spins per day and don't spin for one day, do I have 4 spins the next day (and 6 after that)? If they do save up, is there a limit?
