What does Everclear even taste like? I'd imagine the ridiculously high alcohol concentration would overwhelm whatever flavor it has, but I've been wrong before.

    Today...

I work in retail and almost exclusively old people come in within an hour of us opening (8 AM). In other news, I have a headache and I can't sleep because of it. Staring at my monitor probably isn't helping, but at least I'm not just laying in my bed tossing and turning.
  3. In a good way or a bad way? Like, if I got invited to a party or something, would chugging 6 shots (which I thought was 9 oz (The shot glass I used to measure it was 1.5 oz)) impress people? I've been to a bar a total of two times in my life and both times the people I was with just drank beer, so that's what I did. The other day, one of my friends told me it's normal to drink 8 shots in a day, but it only just occurred to me that people other than myself probably space them out to prevent the coughing fit I have after chugging that much. I know very little about alcohol drinking etiquette, so any information you (or anyone) could provide to me would be cool beans.
  4. I made a quasi-daiquiri just now. I say quasi-daiquiri instead of just daiquiri because I used pineapple rum instead of regular rum, lemon juice instead of lime juice, and sugar instead of simple syrup. It was easier to drink than straight liquor. Usually when I drink liquor, I just pour about 6 shots into a cup, chug it, and get pretty drunk. Alcohol seems to affect me pretty quickly, and honestly, I don't feel much more buzzed than if I had 1 beer, which I guess is to be expected because I only used 2 oz of the pineapple rum.

This is only slightly related, but I remember reading some time ago that there's been this debate going on for centuries about whether math is a science or an art. I don't remember either side's arguments. I guess I'm just posting this to try to show off my knowledge or something.

If you asked me a week ago if I thought it was possible for my homework to inspire a moral dilemma, I would have said "No". If you asked me the same question 10 minutes ago, I would have had an emotional breakdown. I'm only exaggerating a little bit.

You have to consume the liquor AT the liquor store? That sounds incredibly dangerous what with driving and all.

I don't know where else to ask this, so I'll go ahead and ask here. The fall semester is coming to a close for me and I'll have a ton of free time until school starts up again in January. During that time, I want to learn something technical/useful/fun. I'm going to school for mechanical engineering, but I have no clue what I want to specialize in or what kind of job I want, so I figured I'd try exposing myself to a bunch of stuff and see what I like. I've tried learning programming (python), but I never got very far into it (Finished codecademy and learned some pygame) and got bored of it after maybe a month. I've tried getting back into it, but the same thing keeps happening. The same thing happened with the Arduino I ordered. I'd love to hear what you guys have to suggest. Bonus points if it's not super expensive. Double bonus points if it's something I can do on my computer.
  9. It baffles me how people who can't answer a straightforward question manage to pick up on the smallest social cues and have friends and a social life.
  10. If I asked what 2 + 2 equaled and everybody responded with farm animals, yes, you'd be answering the question, but the answer wouldn't be useful. I'll try to make my question clearer: At what age do >90% of straight males who have practically no interaction with women not have any meaningful interactions with women for the rest of their lives? As far as I know, there isn't any formal documentation on this, so I want what you guys think the answer would be. You all have much more social experience than me, so you're all much more qualified to answer than I am.
  11. Me again. In case you forgot, I'm 22 and I've never even held hands with a girl. Realistically, at what point should I give up (or should I have already)?

Don't know about Estonia Saq but he is talking university level math. Therefore I'm presuming a Texas instruments graphing calculator running more in the $100-150 category. It was actually a scientific calculator. I think they run for about $10 - $15. That being said, it's still an extremely important tool to have on you at all times. I do/did have a graphing calculator, but the batteries were dead and honestly, I've used scientific calculators so much more that using a calculator that big feels weird. The only use I have for my TI-84 is... well, honestly, I don't really know what it's capable of that I would need that I can't do on a TI-36X pro. Also, the FE (fundamentals of engineering) exam doesn't allow graphing calculators, but it does allow the TI-36x pro, so there's that too. I'm sure higher-end graphing/CAS calculators have their place in higher-level math, but... actually, if you're at that level, chances are you have a computer that's much more powerful than the calculator and dropping several hundred dollars on a calculator would probably be a waste of money. I'd love to be corrected if I'm wrong. In other news, I received bad news today. A little bit of background information is required first, though. I joined a club at my school with the sole intention of making friends. I thought I was doing a slightly below-average job, as apposed to the ~0 progress I thought I'd make going into it. I've even spent time with people outside of school because of this club. However, today while talking to one of my club-mates, I was informed that, besides him, everyone in the club thought I hated them. This is not true at all. There's only one person in the club I dislike even a little bit, but I don't really associate with him much anyway. The person who told me this didn't tell me why they thought this and I didn't think to ask. I feel pretty bad about it. I knew I was low on the social ladder and that most people didn't like me, but I thought I was at least a friendly person irl. I feel pretty terrible about this whole thing.

Yeah, I just sent him a message and it didn't go catastrophically horrible like I thought it would. In fact, It wasn't bad at all.

    Today...

On Monday I borrowed a calculator from a club-mate I don't know too well. I was planning to give it back to him on Tuesday when I saw him again, but I completely forgot. I was hoping I would see him today so I could give it to him, but no such luck. Would it be weird to message him on facebook even though we're not friends on there? That's the only way I can think of to contact him and I feel really bad.

The buckets went about as well as expected. We had a giggle and that was that. In other news, I saw my favorite middle school teacher at school today. He was tutoring one of my friends. I said hi to him and the conversation was pretty awkward, but that's only because I made it awkward because I'm an awkward person in general. It was cool seeing him again.

I'm starting to have second thoughts about using buckets as a secret Santa gift. Someone suggested getting a big bag of candy, but not everyone likes every candy. Someone else suggested a gift card, but apparently that's too generic or whatever. It's happening on Tuesday so ordering anything online is out of the question. Should I just stick with the buckets since I already bought them or should I get something else in case nobody gets that it's a joke?

Not getting a medical degree, but you were the one with the thyroid problem right? I do have hypothyroidism, but I'm pretty sure I never posted about that here. I did post about a secret Santa I got dragged into and today at work I bought 7 buckets for the person I'm supposed to give a gift to. The dude is a hipster (I'm not the only one who has said so) and hipsters like lol wtf O_o, so I figured it would be appropriate. Edit: Upon further investigation, I did in fact mention my thyroid problem here.

I feel obliged to say before anyone else does that nobody on TIF is a qualified doctor(that I'm aware) and therefore all advice is hypothetical and if you feel it may be an issue you should seek the opinion of a medical professional as soon as possible. Is anyone on TIF a qualified politician or professional booze connoisseur?

MEDICAL MYSTERY CHALLENGE!: Today before work, I felt fine. For the first ~10 minutes of my shift I felt fine. Then all of a sudden I got really lightheaded and was sweating a lot even though I felt cold. I've since taken medication for dizziness and I feel fine again now. I've never experienced this before. What was wrong with me?

    Today...

Today I went to school early, did about 1.5 homework problems, and spent ~3 hours just sitting around. I don't know if this means I need more or less caffeine in my life.
