  1. Quick question: whats the best way to get the HTML5-NIS beta to load. Should I leave it to load for ages before logging in, or log into the game and leave it to gradually load everything in. Is there any way of finding out how much more you need to load?

    Thanks in advance

  2. I must say I really enjoyed the quest, great light hearted fun. The humour wasnt really lots of puns as i expected, but instead lots of really funny references to poular culture/movies etc, very cleverly done. Eli Bacon is a complete mentalist , would love to see him again in a quest. I liek that it had elements of old quest too as they said, going to talk to people and get stuff occasionally as opposed to the typical new quests where everything is handed to you on a platter.

The voice acting really worked and having the music on for once made me realise how much better the more recently released music is compared to the old stuff. I guess the big difference is that theyre actually using instruments to make the music now ,instead of the old music which was all made on sythesisers, which makes it sound so dated. I really hope we get a good amount of music reworks with RS3.

  3. If this version is so clearly buggy, it deffinitely seems like theyre claiming they have a proper finished product version theyre not letting us see that they intend to release on the 22nd. But in which case why are they wasting the beta testers time if they have a better version available?

Or is it just the option we dont want , that its just not ready

  4. I figured because we only got 1 update and 3 mini updates in June, July would be jam packed. But only 2 updates, as much as Im looking forward to them thats just not good.

Jagex seem to have made the same problem twice now: they made load of content that could only be released after the EoC was out, therefore there was mass dry spells this time last year. Now they have loads that can only come out once RS3 is out, its caused a some very empty past few months again. I just hope firstly that this wednesday announcement is some relaly good news and secondly that once RS3 is out we can start having a few more 'proper' updates each month

  5. This financial report is a perfect example of "Creative Accounting".

Haha, they deffinitely seem to have suddenly started paying tax in the last financial year. :

profit before tax 2012: £9.7m profit before tax 9 months up to 31 December 2011 £9.8m so very similar

total amount of tax pad 2012: £2.5m total amount of tax paid 9 months up to 31 December 2011: £278k

It seems to have magically disappeared under 'expenses not deductable for tax purposes'

I can only assume all the bad press in the last 12 months about the likes of Amazon and Google made them decide to change their act.

  6. I really feel like this week and last weeks updates were only released so they could say they released something instead of having a dead week as there was no new content. It frustrates me more the size of the Squeal updates as well as the shear quantity, its like every week now, Surely it must be usign up a sizeable amount of development/Q and A time for each.

I am however very intrigued about the boost to sinkhole xp, as I do them everyday. Will have to see how much of a boost it is though

    • The Make-x interface now defaults to making 1 piece of Player-Owned Ports armour, and defaults to the superior versions.

However scrimshaws still default to making as many as possible and default to the tradeable versions. Jagex that is just unbelievably lazy. Why change one but not the other!!!

They could have done neither. Count your blessings. ;)

Score, complaining does work sometimes. I posted about it on RSOF and Mod Dean says he'll change this next update

  8. The more I think about it, the more I think they’ve made a right dogs dinner of this dungeon. It seems to me the whole focus of the dungeon is on the new crossbow, as opposed to what it was supposed to be-a ranged slayer dungeon.

Currently the monsters are all just a homogeneous mess, with no reason whatsoever to kill the lvl 150 ones as they all seem to have an identical drop table, with little increase in drop rate of keys either. I just don’t understand why the monsters don’t require an increasing slayer level to kill, say 80 for the level 120’s, up to 90ish for the 150’s and then have a much better drop table for the high level ones, especially as they take so much longer to kill. As others have said they should also have different weaknesses too. I also find it frustrating that the monsters are all over the place, as opposed to grouped into areas with different ones.

The polypore dungeon was a very good example of this that I just simply don’t get why they didn’t follow it at all.

  9. Is there anyone else that the thought of doing a random event each time just makes you want to push your fingers into your eyes. I just cannot face doing them any more, especially as the probability of getting the black marketeer event seems quite a bit higher than barmaids tip (to me anyway). I wish they had developed, would develop a few more random events because the same 2 over and over is just painful.

  11. But the problem with making much harder bosses that drop much better drops is the fundamental way the Runescape economy works. The fact that the best gear is the most expensive, then anything below it is worth fraction of the cost makes it very hard to implement end game gear without making everything else instantly worthless. Sure Jagex backs and forths to try and avoid this happening but it never properly works.

The only ways around it that I can think is that either the top weapons could only be used against the monsters/bosses that drop them. Or that they have such a high degrade cost its only cost efficient to use them on the monster/boss that drops them and not on lower bosses or slayer monsters. That is assuming they have very high value non gear drops however.

    I hope that makes sense

  12. Sir Owen-I've been wondering when we were going to get his quest. Hopefully theres a chance Falador will get a lick of paint when we get a quest rework, itll help with making the map look better for new players, as currently in th HTML 5 beta looking at Falador from afar it stands out like a sore thumb.

  13. The impression I get when people say 'get rid of EOC' is that theyre primarily referring to the ability system, but that the attempted rebalance between combat styles through things like weaknesses and making mage/range actually useable in PvM is what people want to stay from the EOC. But to me currently it isnt the ability mechanism of combat thats broken at the moment, its the attempt at rebalancing which are still all over the place. Thats why the whole 'get rid of it arguement' makes no sense to me.
